joins us from the newsroom. now, sterling has kind of made an apology about this, but we don't know if it's sterling in these tapes yet. >> that's right, scott. everyone involved with the clippers organization, at least on the management side they're trying to sort of apologize without fulling admitting that it was, in fact, sterling on those tapes. nbc news has not yet been able to verify it was sterling. many people it was him in a conversation with his then girlfriend and apparently sterling makes some pretty serious racial remarks against african-americans. now in response last night the clippers were here in the bay area. you see them near center court at oracle arena taking off their jackets and revealing their warm-up jerseys were turned inside out. the team has showed a unified front since the allegations surfaced on friday and it appears many teams were affected. their play on the court was not as sharp as it once was. they, of course, lost to the warriors last night.
5:36 am
there is a call for sterling to no longer own this nba franchise, which he has owned for more than three decades because of these remarks. magic johnson calling for that. magic johnson called in these tapes and plenty of other people speaking out, as well. everyone from the president of the players association to the president of the united states. >> we believe that this is a defining moment for the league. this is a defining moment for the commissioner and it's a defining moment for all the players in this league. >> people want to advertise their ignorance, you don't do anything. >> the nba will move quickly into their investigation of the audio recordings but not say what kind of punishment sterling could face if the tapes are found legit. the attorney who represents sterling's ex-girlfriend the attorney says the tapes are real and they represent about a 15 minutes of an hour-long conversation. but, again, we have the nba doing their own investigation to

faith the commissioner will do the right thing." any time we're not on air, you can also head to our website, nbcbayarea.com for more on this controversy. 5:37. let's talk weather and meteorologist christina loren with what i find to be unacceptable numbers. >> i know. because, you know, it's the kind of weather that you will likely have to use your ac if you're in one of the regions where you have an ac in your home even in san francisco a sleepless night wednesday into thursday. the temperatures only dipped into the mid-60s. so, it's going to be kind of warm out there. talking about 80s in san francisco in just a couple of days. want to make sure you're ready for that. 48 degrees in livermore to start the day and today is looking good and i'll take that and put that on the table right now. today looks good. tomorrow, 20 degrees warmer and then as we head through wednesday and thursday. warmest days of the week. but just a fabulous sunrise coming in as that offshore flow starts to develop. we don't have a lot of fog out there.
5:39 am
not a lot of low cloud cover right now but we'll see some develop between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. this is what we're expecting the golden gate bridge to look like. then that bridge clears from top to bottom and complete sunshine on the way and then we stay nice and clear. that warming kicks in all the way through thursday. going to be a nice sunset tonight. gets the reds and oranges and this is because the particulate matter starts and offshore flow building in and for us that means we could see the air quality. the next couple days not as good and showers on friday and that is the reason it's so nice out there. that is the one caveat we'll get very nice and our pollen levels will also go up. after all, we are still in the heart of springtime. 66 degrees is the forecast and tod today mild conditions and then even warmer as we head into wednesday, thursday. we just want to give you an idea of where we are headed from spring to summertime here in the south bay. so, for today, 73 degrees.
5:40 am
we jump to 87 tomorrow. we're in the mid-90s by wednesday. low 90s holding on to that heat for thursday. and then friday into saturday, starting to see that heat break. back to average by saturday but, overall, hot days to get through. the hottest air of the year so far, mike. what are you tracking on a monday morning. >> i am worried about this but i'm worried about the temperatures. looking over to the bay bridge. no concern just warning folks for those cash lanes especially the lanes off to the left. look at that the left approach unusually heavy and sort out earlier but, again, as we look at the maps, you know, the spring breaks have finished up around the bay and we'll see a restoration of traffic flow e. the east shore freeway moves very smoothly as does the rest of the maze and the greater east bay, no problem. and across the bay area, remember the giants play this evening against the padres, so there will be post-work traffic around at&t park and little slowing for the tri-valley starts to kick in and north bay, big commutes, but not a big

problem. just more traffic on 101. new developments overnight, the president issuing new sanks to russia as tensions increase in ukraine. live update coming up next. the next round between apple and samsung could wrap this week. what is different this time around.

"today in the bay" tracie potts is live on capitol hill with who
5:44 am
the president is targeted and how it could hurt the russian economy. tracie? >> hi, the administration said it's already hurting the russian economy and will probably throw them into negative growth, even with these added sanctions that we weren't expecting. remember the president said they were teed up and he has announced more details on what is included in that from washington later today. but we're told they are going to target high-tech exports going to defense companies that are run by people in president putin's inner circle. president obama himself has been trying to gather the european allies behind this facing some reg luckitance because they, obviously, have economic ties to russia. the eu has authorized more sanctions, but critics say we need even broader ones. meantime, in ukraine today, pro-russia militants have seized yet another headquarters and the mayor was shot this morning.
5:45 am
we're waiting to get more information about that. back to you. >> tracie potts in washington, thank you. divers off the coast of south korea went back into the water this morning to continue their search for more than 100 people still trapped inside a sunken ferry. so far the bodies of 188 people have been pulled from the water. search efforts over the weekend were called off due to bad weather and strong currents making it difficult for divers to maneuver inside the ship's small room. in australia, the country's prime minister says an underwater search for the missing plane will expand. he also says it could take up for eight months to thoroughly search the bottom of the indian ocean for the wreckage of malaysian airlines flight 370. today the bluefin-21 on its 16th mission scanning the ocean floor for debris. so far, it's turned up nothing. stronger sonar equipment is expected to arrive in the coming days. 5:44. meteorologist christina loren
