out of the south bay this morning where crews had to break through the roof of a home to put out that fire there. is that fire out just yet, bob? >> it is. san jose firefighters are putting away their gear and will be packing up soon. that is where the fire did take place. the firefighters having to cut into the roof of that house because there was something burning in the attic. the firefighters were mentally preparing themselves for a bigger battle. this fire started in the basement. they had the potential to work their way up fast and firefighters found easy access to the basement to the stairs. they made quick entry an

extinguished it keeping damage to a minimum, saving the house. the homeowner and his roommates were out of the house at the time. his napes saw the soak and called 911. they say it was accidental, started in the basement, which the homeowner uses for storage. they did not have gas hooked up to the house just electrical and thecross is going to be out here as well. reporting live here. >> we have new details on a light name chemical explosion. investigators looking into the cause this morning. two people were taken into the

hospital with critical burns. hazmat crews were called to the area but it is unclear what they found. it happened at spring lake drive near 238 and the 880 interchange. they have since reopened. friends and family members left flowers and candled overnight where near a mother of three was left near 680. investigators have spent the majority of the night specificing through the clues. they were called to the scene at 3:00 yesterday in the afternoon and say she had young twin girls. >> high sons were at school and

they aren't thinking about something happening to mom. i was worried. >> this is the 13th murder of the year. that is the same number of killings as there were this time last year. >> a livermoore golf instructor is though accused of trying to hire somebody to kill his victims. he is accused of sexually abusing boys he used to coach. he is now accused of trying to have those boys killed. it is unclear how they met. the officer said he promised to pay up front for hits on the boys and suggested the officer steal the boy's cell phones. now he is being charged with solicitation of murder. >> the man accused of setting

fires in san so say will be back in court today. he has not entered a plea for his ten counts or arson. brennan is already a registered arsonist and sex offender. >> the teen that stowed away in the wheel well of a plane has been reuned with his father. the teen hid in a wheel well of a plane bound for hawaii. investigators say the teen was trying to go to africa to reunite with his biological mother but picked the wrong plane to go into. >> at least one person died after the same storm that spawned the tornados in the

south bumped more than 14 inches of rain in hours. in mobile, alabama, a man was rescued from a flooded creek. he did that for more than a half an hour before crews arrived. >> a firefighter swam to the man, and put a life jacket on him before they were able to pull him to safety. >> 35 people died from the same storm system. among them a 21 year old university of alabama student who died saving his girlfriend. the tornado hit the house they were in. he held up a concrete slab long enough for her to get out from under hit before it fell on him. although forecasters say the

from this. getting a little bit of a light show on the water this morning. that will give you inspiration this morning. that is unusual for us to see the colors on the bay. as you know, we have a lot of fog and cloud cover as a result the hot sunshine on the day. the after rain 73 degrees, we are going to hit 94 today. for the peninsula that is going to impact a lot of people out there. if you suffer from heat exhaustion, drink a lot of water. people were complaining about p temperatures yesterday. 88 degrees in oakland for today. 92 degrees for north bay. that is my word of caution don't over do it.

a lot of people are expecting the temperatures to come on so soon. christina said wear shorts to school. looking here toward the north bay where southbound 101 was move i moving slowly. we are looking at the maps. on this map farther north there is power lines draped over. far north we are looking at the east bay and the same for highway 24 and the like. as you would expect as you saw through highway 101 clearing, must have been a slow moving vehicle. not a lot going on, i see slowing coming into and out to the pass. all the way over to 580. there was construction

morning. >> he cut his finger making a sandwich in the clubhouse. he tried to catch it slicing a half inch cut in his fingertip. tmi when he tried to throw before the game. it started in play and the giants got into a run and he went onto pitch six shut out innings. i think the only logical sandwich you could make in the clubhouse is a club sandwich. i was thinking that. good result as far as the final score.
