from nbc news, this is "today" with kathie lee gifford and hoda kotb live from studio 1a in rockefeller plaza. >> i know. i just got a nudge. hello, everybody. it's tuesday for hoda. it is may 27th for the rest of us. hope you had a great holiday this weekend. >> we have a huge show. it is humongous. howie mandel is here. "the blacklist" is back with a guitar and singing for us. >> terrific new movie. he is with toni collette and wrote the movies in the play. just adorable. >> that's what he said. also, teen sensation. gather around, gather your kids around. austin is with us. lovely weekend, my hoda? >> gorgeous. family. sun splashed. everyone worried about the rain, whatever. we did a saturday morning selfie. >> i like that one. >> we woke up and went click click and ate at the place that we love called go fish. there they are in the sand. and this is someone won the bear
2:09 am
and we didn't so i just asked the people to get out of the way so i could get a picture of them but i confessed that we didn't win it, okay? and this is something weird. i was in college and one of my roommates, her husband asked me, look, it's her 50th birthday, can we do a meeting? she's going to be in cape may right nearby. this is marge and i before in college. >> whoa. >> hey. >> here we are -- we just took a picture there. she came and we met at the coffee mill. >> may i say that kind has been kind to you ladies. kinder to one than the other. no, you look adorable. was she surprises? >> she was. she saw my dog first. look at the cute dog. look who is holding the leash. i'm right here. >> we had a lovely weekend. any weekend you can stay home and enjoy your own home and your own blessings is awesome. had dinner with regis and joy over the weekend. saturday night we just -- every single time i scream, we just so funny. and then memorial day yesterday. i took this picture. and -- because i just wanted everybody to remind, you know, of why -- people think memorial day is about going to the beach and picnic. that's lovely but we have to remember our fallen heroes and
2:10 am
those who are still serving. my dad who i lost many years ago was a veteran of world war ii and he lost his father, stepfather and brother and his other brother was wounded. so you know what, thank you. thank you. >> beautiful shot, by the way. >> thank you, hoda. >> beautiful. be doing, but at the last minute i decided not to. >> there were tons of pictures. i felt like every time i looked at instagram there was another picture. >> didn't that seem to you to be an exhausting three days? it's bad enough when you stay in one spot. >> go on a plane and flying them around. here's what everybody is waiting for. that's not the wedding picture. that was the tuxedo plunging neckline pre-wedding shot. here is the "people" magazine photo of kim wearing white. "people" got the exclusive photos of that.
2:11 am
and there they are. >> and they look happy. and we hope they stay that way. >> they look happy. they rode off in a carriage. it looked like king and queen. >> apparently they are on their honeymoon now in ireland. that's all i'm thinking. even if you're going on a private plane, that's a lot of packing up and getting to a place. >> yeah. there were lots of coverage. >> there was. next to brad and angelina, the biggest celebrity couples in the world. . >> a couple of hiccups. rob kardashian didn't want to be photographed or didn't fit into his outfit. he gained weight and he felt terrible and it. he left before the wedding, according to credible sources. he flew home before the wedding even started. >> he deleted twitter. that's sort of telling. before that, on memorialay, blessed is the nation whose god is the lord, psalm 33:12.
2:12 am
hasn't said why he skipped the wedding. he's been battling this for a long time. so many people do. people use a wedding or some event as a goal to lose the weight by sometimes people buy the outfit in three sizes -- we just did that on how to give your dress size. >> the dress i'm in right now i can't even breathe. >> me neither. but we're going to fight the bloat later. >> a lot of people were not at the wedding. beyonce and jay-z were not there. >> right. >> and anna was supposed to be there but she wasn't there. "the new york post" ran an article. >> yes. hoda is going to read some of it because i said no. >> here's the thing. it's a very small article. a lot of people run articles that are big and splashy. "the new york post" ran a teeny bitty article that we xeroxed. and it says, alert, yawn, kimye weds. then it says to -- how would you describe them? horses patooties got married

saturday. sex tape star kim kardashian, 33, wed egotisk kanye west. >> i don't want to take on the "the post" because he's done a lot of good stuff. whatever you think about it, but you don't have to be mean. why be mean? >> one more mean thing. kanye gave a 20-minute speech apparently at the wedding. he called his wife the ideal celebrity. he called the kardashian family among the most remarkable people of our time who can make the world a better place. he complained about snl making fun of them saying we're not like that, we're not stupid. >> they make fun of us. we are stupid. >> different. >> of course we reached out to kanye. he's on his honeymoon. do you think he's going to call back? >> he didn't return our call. >> we do wish them a lot of happiness. i don't think i would want to be
2:14 am
married to the ideal celebrity. i would want to be married to a really -- i would want to say to one of the finest human beings. what do you say? >> i know. >> do you want to wake up the ideal celebrity. >> i don't know. >> what does that mean? >> i don't know. i don't know. >> all right. let's talk about other wedding news. >> thank you, hoda. we don't want to know the odds of their wedding lasting. >> we don't want to know. but if you want to know, you can go to our website. patrick swayze's wife got married. >> good. yeah, she and patrick had -- had a beautiful, beautiful marriage. patrick died four years ago from pancreatic cancer. so she married julia albert. i know that name. >> how do you know? i don't know. they dated a year and a half. got engaged in december. and we are very happy for her. that was a horrible, horrible thing to go through. she loved him until the end. and you know, i'm sure there are times she thought i'll never be happy again, i'll never breathe
2:15 am
again, i'll never know joy again. she will. she will. >> she will. >> this is a weird story, guys. >> if you guys are fans of "bachelorette," last night got a little strange. andi, the bachelorette, looking for someone to choose for her first one-on-one date. well, the person she selected was a guy named eric hill. i don't know if you guys have been reading about him. but eric hill actually passed away after filming the "bachelor."d he died in a paragliding accident. so he obviously this taping happened before that. so they ran almost a third of the two-hour bachelor series featuring them on a romantic date. and a lot of twitter fans thought the video, the footage was unsettling. >> it's the first time i'm seeing it, i agree. it's just so -- it's heartbreakingly sad. so, you know, what's the difference -- is it just trying
2:16 am
to tell the truth of what happened to this young man, trying to be respectful, or is it exploitive? people thought it should have been deleted from the show with just an explanation. >> he is part of the show. >> you sign a waiver when you agree to do those things. you don't own it, they do. >> the weird thing about reality tv is it happened, he's going to be in a lot of shots. i think spending a third of a two-hour show is too much time to be spending with a guy who passed away because you get invested in him and his story and it's hard and painful to watch. >> you have to put yourself in the family's shoes. that will tell you the right thing to do. >> right. a couple other lighter things to get to. >> i hope so. let's move on. i'm depressed. >> so in seoul, south korea, in case you're wondering, there are women-only parking places. they're bigger. they're closer to the mall. you get -- you're right next to the -- they're wider so you can get in there. and they're marked, clearly marked. some people said, oh, that's sexist. but i like it. i want my space up close with

lots of room because when i pull in, you need room to open the doors. >> the next one is going to be for women like me that are female and old, so it will be ageist and sexist. and i'll have the whole parking lot to myself. it's going to be awesome. >> by the way, trying to find a parking place this weekend, you can't find one. everyone is fighting for them. i like the idea. i have to say you know when you think you're going to be lucky when it comes to a spot? twice it happened. we pulled right up next to the water. oh, there's nothing here. what was there? a space. it happened twice to us. we were so lucky. you don't care. >> well, whatever. lucky us, i do care about that. the hunky star of "the blacklist" is going to sing for us. >> you grab your daughters. they won't want to miss this singing superstar, austin mahone! >> right after this.
