good friday morning. it's 4:30. breaking news, firefighters actually on the scene this morning of a deadly mobile home fire in hayward. it is not far from mission boulevard. thats in an unincorporated part of the city. an investigator on the scene trying to figure out how that fire started and who was inside the mobile home when it went up in flames. it started about 3:00 this morning and didn't take long for firefighters to put it out. kris sanchez is there gathering information and she will bring us a live report coming up in our next half hour. a look now at your weekend

forecast with christina loren. christin christina, do we have the risk for dry conditions that might start a fire? >> our hillsides still rather moist and we don't have any red flag warnings or fire weather watches in place but i can tell you next week that is something that we will keep a very close eye on. this morning, you can actually see that moisture here in the atmosphere getting a live look at that foggy breeze in san francisco. it's friday. and it's early. and i can tell you right now it is going to be a nice day out there. i almost said san francisco, mike, good morning, what do you have? >> i have probably a lot of speech impediments, as well. i'll take it slowly. we're looking over here as 580 moves smoothly through dublin. farther back just where we can see with our camera, construction still going on and the map will show you a little slowing approaching hacienda.

and only one lane open overnight and still have not picked up that construction crew. that's the only slowing we really have for that portion of the tri-valley and around the bay looking over here just south of 238 between western and mission, as laura said. that deadly fire continues to have the investigation going on. kris sanchez is out there and we'll talk about that. not affecting mission boulevard or your approach to 280 or approach to city streets. the only slow spot through livermore and in towards dublin through 580. we'll track that and send it back to you. new this morning, army sergeant bowe bergdahl back on u.s. soil. we have video of his plane arriving in san antonio just before midnight last night. he was immediately whipped away to medical center in san antonio. sergeant bowe bergdahl overnight from germany to san antonio where he will begin his next phase of rehabilitation and recovery. army doctors say bergdahl is getting better physically but needs more time to recover psychologically after being held by five years by the taliban as a prisoner of war. during his captivity he spent time in solitary confinement and endured repeated torture. as his treatment now shifts to san antonio, the fire storm of controversy over his release seems to be growing. accusations by some that he deserted his post and there continues to be bipartisan outrage in washington that the administration agreed to a deal to trade five taliban prisoners being held in guantanamo bay for bergdahl's release without

consulting congress. >> the transfers went ahead with totally not following the law. >> reporter: defense secretary chuck hagel defended the move during a hearing this week on capitol hill. >> the exchange needed to take place quickly, efficiently and quietly. we believe this exchange was our last best opportunity to free him. >> reporter: and now for the first time in five years, sergeant bergdahl is back on u.s. soil. sergeant bergdahl is expected to stay here for at least a week to ten days. jay gray, nbc news, san antonio. we have new details this morning on a late-night homicide in the south bay. investigators say a man was shot during a fight involving two large groups of people. the shooting happened off south 12th street. the victim died before officers could arrive. his body was taken to the coroner's office where investigators hope to figure out

more about who the victim is and how he died. meanwhile, officers walked the darkened streets looking for clues while helicopters buzzed overhead. >> we are using every technology we can to look for any potential suspects. we're doing our best to look for potential suspects at this time. >> no one has been arrested at this point and for those keeping track, this is the city's 19th homicide of the year. the man accused of killing a daley city mother could enter a plea today. 25 years after detectives say he committed that crime. gabriel o'neil sexually assaulted and killed sheila hatcher and dumped her body in the san bruno mountains. hikers found her body. last year hatcher's family asked investigators to reopen the case that high-tech equipment could help solve the mystery. >> utilizing good investigation and the resources that we have here at the sheriff's office

and, ultimately, technology. they were able to not only identify a suspect in this whole case, but place somebody under arrest. >> o'neil is also a registered sex offender. hatcher was a mother of three. the popular san jose family camp will reopen today, about a year after it was damaged by a devastating wildfire. the camp is located on the middle river near yosemite where last year's rim fire burned more than 250,000 acres of land. the fire scorched edges of the camp burning 14 out of 16 tent cabins after campers had had been evacuated. just seven miles away the family camp also destroyed coming up in the next half hour, bob redell live at san jose family camp to talk about how the camp came roaring back to life. police on the peninsula are looking for a man they say walked into a jewelry store in san mateo and claimed to have a bomb. a picture of the suspect from the surveillance camera.

he demanded jewels and instead had an explosive device. when a store clerk told them officers are on the way he took off empty handed. facing more questions from lawyers today. grant's father is suing johannes mehserle saying he can no longver a relationship with his son. mehserle was convicted of killing but he said it was an accident. he thought grant may have been reaching for a gun. today we could hear from the bay area teenager accused of using a stolen credit card to rent a sports car and a luxury home. he rented this $240,000 sports car, which was later reported stolen. also accused of renting a $12 million vacation home in sonoma and throwing parties with underaged drinking. he faces numerous charges including auto identity and

credit card theft. >> probably enjoyed that ride, though. a credit union in the east bay is apologizing to members after an employee accidentally sent their personal information to another member. according to the palo alto weekly a list of people preapproved for a loan to a long-time member. the member happened to have the same first name as the staff member who was meant to get the e-mail. the list included the names, and credit card information for 18,000 people. the credit union said it deleted the information before the members saw it. scientists say the cougar that was found in downtown mountain view was hiding behind a bush for nine hours before he was picked up. they got that information from gps technology and the animal's caller, the cougar was crouched a few feet away from pedestrians and bicyclists for most of the day before leading animal control on a 3 1/2 hour chase. the tracker showed the day before he was captured the cat crossed 280 and crept through

backyards of homes in the los altos hills. he probably made a wrong turn while trying to find new territory. presidential politics heating up. new jersey governor chris christie will be in the bay area to drum up votes for the republican candidate for governor of california. in just a few hours christie and the campaigning will meet with supporters in san francisco. after that, he'll visit facebook headquarters in menlo park to take part in a live chat and then head off to park city, utah, for a fund-raiser with mitt romney. >> he was just on jimmy fallon last night. busy guy. >> probably tired. let's check that forecast and meteorologist christina loren. >> so nice out there, happy friday, everybody. you made it through some hot weather at the start of the week and we're going to get a nice payoff. today, gorgeous conditions will persist and comfortable conditions right off the batd and upper 50s just about

everywhere and a lot happening across this beautiful bay area as we get into the weekend. we'll talk about some of those events and maybe you want to get outdoors and some world cup viewing parties right here in town, as well. let's talk about the weather story of the day and that is that persistent ocean breeze. going to be nice out there, again. temperatures for today in the 70s. warm spots are going to hit the mid-80s and that's it. 79 degrees is the forecasted high for the peninsula and 78 degrees in the south bay today and 67 in san francisco this morning. really nice morning out there and i just want to show you this, though, it might hit you in the eye like a big piece of pie and that's the full moon, my friends. you can see it clearly this morning in the south bay, as well. let's check on that drive. you don't want to get distracted by it. mike knows about that. >> when the moon hits your eye, over here we're looking over here at the new tower from the bay bridge or what we'll be calling it from now on, probably just the tower because it's been there for a while.

treasure island heading eastbound and we have a smooth drive. the light volume of traffic heading back over towards the east bay. a good deal of slowing where that arrow is back over towards oakland and likely that crew is clearing from the overnight construction and still waiting on a full word from that and so far no problems. highway 13 on the right. and heading up towards highway 24 reports of a wrongway driver traveling southbound on the northbound side. no slowing, no traffic brakes. the rest of your bay looks really nice, including the golden gate bridge with no problems, flashing lights as that they'll start to move those cones. new unrest in iraq overnight. militants captured two towns as they continue their push towards the country's capital. the latest details coming up. plus, how that trouble in iraq could end up costing you a lot more at the pump. how much and how soon those

new video this morning of world cup protesters attacking a tv studio near the famous copa cabana beach. threw stones and set flags on fire. one photographer was treated for a cut to his head. police made a number of arrests, as well. protesters began marching while brazil national team played croatia in the opening match. police used tear gas to help scatter those crowds. many brazilians are angry that the country spent more than $11 billion to put on that tournament. that's according to anonymous white house officials. right now the militants are pushing their way to baghdad and have captured two towns just northeast of the capital. police said the militants entered the towns in pickups with mounted machine guns.

iraqi soldiers reportedly abandoned their posts and no clashes have been reported else where in the country. militants have taken over towns, air bases and three plane loads of americans have been evacuated to germany. speaking from the oval office yesterday president obama said it is important for the u.s. to make sure the militants do not get a permanent foothold in iraq. nearly all american troops left iraq in 2011 after they failed to come to turerms on a securit agreement that would have kept a number of u.s. troops in the country for a while. house speaker john baker have accused the president of "taking a nap" while violence in iraq e surged. bertha coombs live at cnbc world headquarters to explain this morning. good morning, bertha. >> good morning, laura. you know yesterday seeing those scenes out of iraq really

spooked investors and the prospect that think they can devolve into a civil war could result in pain at the pump here at home. crude oil jumped 2% to a nine-month high in trading on thursday and analysts say that increase could push through to the price of regular gas at the pump and could push it up as much as 5 to 10 cents a gallon over the next weeks. gas average $4.22 and in oakland $4.10 and san jose $4.08 according to aaa. iraq oil industry is being threatened by all the activity right now from militant groups, it has already been under pressure and already producing less this year. down about 10% since march. futures, meantime, are pointing to a higher start after stocks fell sharply as investors were watching those escalating tensions in iraq. the dow posted its first back-to-back loss in a month and now poised to snap its three-week winning streak

without a rebound today. data on inflation and consumer sentiment, that should set the tone. the dow will start the day at 16,734 after dropping 109 points. the nasdaq at 4297 after losing 34. if you're a fan of tele one of the networks that shows them could be on the auction blocks. univision owners have been talking with the likes of cbs, time warner and others about a possible sale. the discussions haven't gone anywhere because they're seeking more than $20 billion for the deal. univision is controlled by a group of investors, who is best known for producing the power rangers franchise. of course our sister network, telemundo are very much part of our family. >> you get hooked on those, bertha. watch out. thanks so much. >> i know. i know. you really have to be careful.
