multiple overtime game and have. z when do you notice fatigue more, second overtime or first? guys look tired but sometimes that can be deceptive. >> eddie: times in the overtime, icing against the kings don't have a lot of time to think about it gone stretches in this overtime, there have been no whistle for three, four, four and a half minutes. but the shift length, pierre touched on that all series long, shift length theths, as the games gone on, gotten shorter. it is up and down and off. so, if it's 20 seconds that's a good shift and don't want to get called out there if you can help it. >> mike: kicked back to pouliot, given back to girardi, spike it had down and shot, save made by quick! rebound! kreider there, zuccarello! poke away at it, puck loose, reaching out and getting a glove on it was jonathan quick.
8:45 pm
[ whistle ] it was bouncing all around there were chances coming but none ended the game. >> eddie: two chances for mats zuccarello. the first one from dan girardi. he is going to shoot this buck and redirected right there from mats zuccarello and zuccarello gets it again. and john quick is able to fight it off. unbelievable opportunities, but again, generating offense off a faceoff win. >> pierre: that's just being square, making yourself big, athlet athletic, look at the flexibility there, that is unbelievable, try that at home, you will go to the emergency room. >> mike: 1:02, first overtime. stopped and played by girardi and now comes jeff carter, carter trying to swagger by in front, denied, couldn't pull the

trigger on the shot, on the checking of nash, here comes carter again, back hander walked away, carter drew one off the back of the cage, mike richards able to step to that one, to the back, doughty a shot, that one blocked, kreider, moving on in and no! up high it comes and it's played out along by richards. dpech second breakaway had in this series in overtime. >> mike: 20 to go. fired around for brad richards. laid back across now for stroll. stralman brings it on, brad richards in front, the shot stopped by quick, poked high into the air. five seconds left, holding stoll, blocked away by carter, neither guy for a moment, sent back and that's one. [ horn blows ] or four, depending on how you're counting them.
8:47 pm
>> eddie: chris kreider made the play by blocking the shot, the little things and not many players are going to be able to catch up to chris kreider and what an arm save there by jonathan quick. or maybe even off the blocker. jeff carter, a couple of good looks, great pass there from mike richards, get inside, create the chance and then carter with an opportunity right after that that was denied by dan girardi. >> mike: well, how are you? >> liam, mike and keith will have the subway overtime intermission report. mike and keith on the good looks on both teams plus who will be the overtime hero? the question of the day. tonight, maybe in some time zones, the morning. it is 2-2 after four in game five.

>> announcer: welcome to the overtime intermission report powereded by subway. stay hard, eat fresh. >> the fans the staples center getting a much-needed rest, get ready to upset the ante with the second overtime period. this is the subway intermission report. liam mchugh, keith jones, mike mill bury, rangers staring down elimination, its kings on the brink of capturing the cup, the score on game five remains 2-2, saw 23 shots. what's the formula here that the rangers are trying to rely on? >> an age-old formula, when you
8:50 pm
seem to be outmatched against an opponent, you try to limit their chances through hard checking, rely on your goaltender to make big saves and get a timely goal. so far, it's kind of working for them and tonight, and the overtime, you will see how much they sat back. this was a barrage of opportunities against henrik lundqvist who has been absolutely brilliant in the last two games in particular. cannot say enough about this as close as they can a rocket off the cross bar, but plenty of chances lundqvist had to be on top. >> lots of jam plays, lots of wrap-around attempts, faceoffs, the scoring chances, rebounds they just couldn't get past lundqvist. terrific amount of energy and a whole lot of opportunities for the l.a. kings, but lundqvist is in his zone. >> kingses fans not the only ones sitting at home wondering how did that not go in? rangers, they had their opportunities as well. what did you see from them? >> a lot more than the third period, a very good job of getting more opportunities in tight, they did a good job on their power play chances, they
8:51 pm
got pucks to the net and then caused a lot of problems for the l.a. kings in their zone, nash a great chance there, stepan just missed that opportunity, kreider i thought was one of the best new york rangers in that period. he had his skating legs, he was moving, mcdonagh right off the pipe there. jonathan quick a little beat behind him. saw the late chance by kreider, another one by st. louis, was a ton of them. >> boyle having himself another heck of a game, quick couldn't quite get the hit earlier. this one, i don't know if he saw it, but great flexibility and strength in his legs, manages to corral that and kreider's breakaway attempt here, tries to be a little too fine with it, it does not go in, but the rangers at least had their opportunities first ten minutes or so was completely l.a. >> we see fatigue as a factor here? >> one withdrew doughty, the one guy you worry about, burned in the boyle goal earlier in the game did cough up the puck for kreider's chance who can blame
8:52 pm
him, three game sevens to get through the playoffs to get to the stanley cup and a lot of minutes in this game as well. >> jonathan quick not as busy but sharp. henrik lundqvist composed, but cat-like reflexes to keep his rangers alive. both goaltenders, the best friend recall the posts. the eyes may be the windows to the soul. but in the case of the lexus ls... ...which eyes? eyes that pivot with the road... ...that can see what light misses... ...eyes designed to warn when yours wander... or ones that can automatically bring the ls to a complete stop. all help make the unseen... ...seen. and make the ls perhaps the most visionary vehicle on the road. this is the pursuit of perfection. after the rxbox, on life time, i've been, busy. so i look forward to my downtime.

8:57 pm
the goal. >> richards was getting eaten alive by some of the l.a. kings centermen, i think that's why alain went with that, but the chemistry richards and st. louis had in the past should pay dividend it is they continue to put them out there together. >> rangers did have pretty good opportunities here. they have to have the confident to keep on pushing forward. not gonna win it playing defense. somebody has to score goal, have to have that mindset. >> lundqvist spectacular, how do you go about beating him? >> traffic and take his eyes away. the only way you're gonna beat him tonight. he is so confident, scary to watch him up here. if you're cheering the for rangers, you're feeling pretty good he is the guy backstopping you, they need to find a bounce against quick to win it. >> so, we are heading to double overtime in the stanley cup final. here's what's at stake, the rangers score, see you monday night in new york for game six, if the kings cash in, they are your stanley cup champs. >> announcer: overtime
