territory, my friends. talk about traffic. mike has the day off. we still have this closure, early morning construct. it's not going to last all morning. should open up in the next hour. it's one as you're trying to get to the golden gate bridge, it's shut down through pro-sid yo. >> we'll start across the globe today. new this morning, u.s. drone strike targeting militant hideout, hit and killed four man in pakistan this morning. pakistani officials say the strike blew up a vehicle and a compound. the compound is reportedly also used as a heigideout for al qaeda-linked militant groups. it united states and the third in the past two weeks. al qaeda affiliated insurgents have been pounding a refinery with bullets and bombs since last night. the story's developing minute by minute, it's 155 miles from baghdad. accounts for a quarter of the

refining capacity. this is video before it was attacked. president obama will sit down with congressional leaders before announcing. >> he will authorize air strikes against militants in iraq. as of today, isis controls six cities in iraq and fighting for six more. >> they have a billion dollars, heavy weapons, reports now of two helicopters. an al qaeda army on the move. >> united nations has verified what it calls cold-blooded executions of iraqi soldiers shown in picture and in video. in the fight, getting closer to baghdad. iraqi army and militia claim to have killed four dozen militants outside the capital in of the last 24 hours alone. right now, u.s. intelligence analysts are tracking movements of key figures within isis but these days it's easier said than done because spying capacity in the middle east took a serious hit after the 2011 troop withdrawal and the civil war in syria. intelligence officials have been

pay $14 million to two women who accuse the district of covering up teacher misconduct. the women with two others sued after it failed to investigate accusations that the biologist teacher sexually abused numerous students. witters committed suicide. the two other women received $4.6 million lastier. state regulators will talk about keeping power substations safe. the meeting comes in response to an attack on tpg&e station last year. there, someone cut fiber-optic phone lines and fired about 1,000 shots at the substation. the suspect has not been found. state regulators plan to talk about the investigation into the attack and what is being done for security at other substations. pollsters could be calling you to ask about raising taxes in san jose. last night city council approved a plan to ask the public about which tax increase should be

placed on the november ballot. potential voters will be asked about several options including a slight increase in general sales tax or new tax for a specific purpose like road repairs or safety. another possible question, increase in the marijuana business tax. police in the oakland hills area are looking for a possible arsonist this morning after several brushfires started within a couple of hours of each other. you can see locations here on the map. firefighters stayed in the area looking for hot spots or any new fires. investigators say the fires are suspicious because three of the fires started off a trail deep in the canyon. two smaller fires may have been started by flying embers. >> could have been worse. could have been a lot worse. the canyon's dry and the wind was blowing, and you could see they did get some of the fire out and the fire would start building. >> friday, crews put two other suspicious fires out nearby. it's unclear if those were

related to yesterday's incidents. yesterday's fires a reminder for somehow any sign of smoke or fire can turn deadly quickly. people in the oakland hills area were there 23 years ago when winds fueled the grass fire that overwhelmed fires. 25 people died, dozens hurt, nearly 4,000 homes and apartments destroyed. >> i remember it well. in antioch, firefighters mostly contained a brushfire that threatened 40 homes overnight. flames reached 50 to 60 feet in the air, close to overhead transmission lines. the fire was reported just before 7:30 last night. it quickly spread across four acres of a park, a block away from the elementary school. within an hour, crews managed to stop the fire before it damaged homes or buildings. several wooden and metal fences were damaged, an indication how close a call this was for some homeowners. one person was treated for smoke inhalation and the cause of the

fire is under investigation. the santa clara fire department and others will set their own fire between 10:00 and 11:00. the county fire department with cal fire and santa claire ray county parks will start a fire. the department hopes to get firefighters practice putting out wildfires if a regulated environment. they'll use torches and other devices to control and surround the fire. the plan was approved by several experts and planned for a day with what they consider favorable weather conditions. smoke from the fire will probably dissipate before it reaches san jose but not to panic, it's a controlled burn. >> plenty of experience on the job right now, too, with fires popping up. microclimate forecast. live look at san francisco on your left. san jose on your right. a day that we've seen increasing temperatures increase. that doesn't make sense. >> no, it does. it's good. >> it's okay. >> it's 4:30. >> makes sense. >> totally accurate, we saw the

taking a beautiful live look outside. look at the bay bridge. multiple angles at that. what a treat from our directors and great crew. 4:43. state law makes reject a bill to make california the first state to require health warnings on sugary drinks. they claim it would help people to make healthier choices about warning for the risk of diabetes and tooth decay but the beverage industry said the idea wasn't fair because it didn't apply to other foods and drinks. previously lawmakers tried to impose a tax on sugary drinks about that was voted down. supersonic flights which involve yets that fly faster than the speed of sound are not allowed over the continental u.s. due to concerns of sonic booms. the researchers are testing technology that could minimize sonic booms. they plan to present findings at a conference this week in atlanta.

malaca. at least two dead, 60 others rescues. authorities say illegal workers often take dangerous routes when trying to return home. overnight two convicted killers were put to death, the first since oklahoma's botched execution. two death row inmates in missouri and georgia given the lethal injections last night. in april, an inmate supposed to be executed died after a heart attack after given the first dose of the lethal injection. since then, nine executions nationwide have been halted. oklahoma's botched execution raised concerns about the drugs used to put a prisoner to death. actor, now turned accuse murderer, michael jace, expected in cord today. best known for his role "in the shield," he shot his wife multiple times in their home after their two children who were inside the home at the time were not actually hurt.

troubles continue for the giants as they fell to the white sox 8-2. they'll try to right the ship in a few hours at 11:10 this morning. a's top texas at home, 10-6, beat one of the best pitchers in baseball, darvish. back in action 12:35. the a's will be without starter drew pomeranz. headed to the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right hand, injury received within he punched a chair in frustration. he got lit after giving up eight runs in monday's loss to the same texas rangers. surprising move, sharks are partingways with the broadcaster, he's been a fixture since the sharks' season in 1991. he started as assistant coach, then the team's broadcaster in '95. he says the sharks did not offer him a new contract. still no word on who will replace him. the sharks issued a statement
