hey, welcome to summer everyone now we are definitely in the new season. today it's going to feel comfortable out there. new workweek, brand new forecast to tell you about, and so bizarre. we're actually including the chance for rain later on this week. just a couple days away. we're going to talk about that coming up. for today, 86 out in the east bay, 64 for san francisco and 80

degrees in the beautiful south bay where we had a really nice weekend. monday's can be tough, but i have good news this morning, mike ig -- is back this morning. bay bridge has construction going on, and a couple of cars, look at that waiting in the way back. nothing unusual on the approach coming off the east shore freeway itself and smooth drive. 24 had reported debris, that has cleared eastbound highway 4, slowing towards hill crest where there is a crash over off the shoulder and in the chain link fence. i know that chp is there, we'll track that. we'll give you a bigger view coming up, back to you. this morning we are waiting to learn the identity of a man who was hit and killed by a light rail train in san jose. investigators spent the night looking for evidence at the intersection of southwest

expressway and stoke street. the crash, the second deadly accident there in six months. "today in the bay's" reporter live in the intersection. the victim may have been chasing after his dog when he was hit. >> reporter: police say the man killed was apparently chasing his dog. he may have been so focussed on that that he didn't see or hear the train. while that remains a possibility, the official cause of the crash is still undetermined that the point and authorities have yet to release the man's name. the santa clara valley transportation authority says the accident happened around 9:00 p.m. last night near the baskin station. a couple dozen passengers were on the train. they had all to be bussed to their destination. as you can imagine, it caused major delays for hours while investigators gathered evidence. >> train was traveling southbound toward winchester. and there was someone in the

right of way, and the train was not able to stop in time and struck the person. >> reporter: as part of the normal procedure protocol, the train operate will be tested and the train itself is impounded until investigators release it. it's unclear if the winchester line will be affected for this morning's commute. we'll definitely keep you posted. live in san jose, "today in the bay." >> thank you very much. . >> now the victim is the second person to diet at that the intersection. in january, 14-year-old danica garcia was hit and killed by a light rail train as she piked to -- biked to school. people left flowers and candles for the girl. deadly plane crash in livermore. sheriff's deputies say 63-year-old jerry parker died when he jumped out of his plane right before it crashed. the plane took off from livermore municipal airport just before 5:00 saturday.

witnesses say a few minutes later the plane caught fire and went down. the crash started a brush fire north of 580. burned about 1 pz 1/2 acres. secretary state john kerry arrived in iraq this morning in hopes of bringing the country back from the brink of civil war. today, kerr have i meeting with the country's prime minister. u.s. officials say kerry is not there to get the prime minister to resign though there have been calls for new leaders to bring shiites and sunnis together. 300 militaried a advisoriers is enough some say. >> do we to want send 100,000 troops in or 45 young americans die to save a city die that the shiites won't save. >> what we can't do is play what can a -- whack a mole and send u.s. troops occupying various countries wherever the organizations pop up.

>> meanwhile militants captured two more towns near the syrian borders when experts fear that'll fear the supply route for the militants into iraq. another developing story this time in southern california where five los angeles police officers were in the hospital after they were exposed to chemocams at suspected meth lab. hazmat crews are going through the area now. officers were called after 11:00 last night. they got sick after coming in contact with the chemocams. no word yet on how they're doing this morning. the suspect was also taken to the hospital. we're still waiting to hear from a coroner to determine what killed a san leandro man in las vegas. 24-year-old month gom ri sang collapsed in a parking lot after attending the opening day of the daisy carnival. he suffered a medical episode but no specifics. neighbors say he will be missed. >> he's a nice, nice kid, nice

person. say hi and bye. pretty quiet and kind of kept to themselves. good people though. >> according to the "las vegas sun," two people died back in 2012. one was hit by a truck and a woman fell out of a hotel window after reportedly taking ecstasy. federal safety board will tell the world what it found while investigatoring the flight 24914 crash at sfo. investigators say there are no signs of any mechanical or electronic problems with the plane. also inl colluded in the investigation, an analysis of the emergency crews response to the accident. after the crash, one of the passengers was run over by a san francisco fire truck. she and two other teens were killed in the july 6th crash. about 200 others were hurt. nbc stephen stock will be at the hearings in washington tomorrow. he'll have a live update for us throughout the day. and our investigative team

ma's bad, but today the commission will talk about how bad the situation is in the city. this is the commission's midyear water supply update. officials will talk about supply levels at the reservoir. it's located in yosemite but carries water to san francisco and beyond. assistant general manager with the puc told the mercury news that the reservoir only has enough to lance two more years even if everyone conserves. 4:38 right now, christina loren's been watching the drought for months and months now, but she has the forecast this morning. >> good morning, yeah, next couple months in particular, we're going to skeep tabs on that for you. as we know, we're getting into the dry season. all be it we have a chance for rain in the forecast as we get into the next couple days. we're going to talk about that coming up in just a moment. right now, let's focus on the weather story of your monday. it's going to be nice out there. temperatures right now mostly in the 50s, upper 50s at that.

beautiful, 4:43 right now. the supreme court could make rulings on several big cases this morning. they include questions about the affordable care act and possibly the future of broadcast television. first they could release a decision about the hobby lobby's religious objections to the affordable care act. the company doesn't want coverage. we could find out if a judge is going to stop a customer that charges customers to watch any broadcast television network live or recorded. broadcast networks say area takes free programs on the air and semis access without paying for the right to do so. former pow bowe bergdahl is one step closing to -- closer to going home this morning. he is getting outpatient care at a texas military base. the army says the next step in bergdahl's reintegration process is to help him get exposure to more people and increase social interaction. he was freeted by the taliban

last month after spending five years in captivity in afghanistan. the army is investigating the circumstances of bergdahl's capture, but he will not be questioned until his recover have i complete. the controversial kill switch bill face ascii vote today in an assembly academy -- committee. it would require a switch on smart phones sold in california to allow users to disable devices if they're lost or stolen. critics say mandatings technology would cycle innovation, but supporters say it would deter theft. oracle could be getting ready to seal a very big deal. according to the wall street journal, the company will likely announce this morning it's taking over microsystems. the deal would reportedly cost oracle $5 billion. microsystems sells cash registers used by shops and hotels. the purchase would show that oracle's interested in taking a bigger slice of the retail and hotel pie. meanwhile google holding its

yearly developers conference this week. for that and the news before the bell, let's turn to courtney raken, good morning. >> reporter: hey, good morning, they hold their conference this week with wearable devices in focus. reports say samsung will introduce its first wear device, similar to the galaxy you're smart watch. lg and motorola could unveil them too. 19 million wearables could be shipped by the end of the year, that's triple the number from last year. procedures are pretty flat as the markets come off a positive week with the dow up for six straight sessions despite growing concern over the crisis in iraq. dow just 50 points away from 17,000. look for data on existing home sales and later this week on home prices and consumer confidence. dow rises 26 points on friday. the nasdaq adding eight points to 4368. scott, back to you.

steep terrain. in addition, five hikers were rescued when the flames got too close. it is 4:48, pennsylvania's attorney general plans to release an account of the child molestation investigation into jerry sandusky today. last year pennsylvania attorney general kathleen payne led that investigation of governor tom cover bit's handling of the case while he was attorney general. payne thinks her predecessors took too long to arrest sandusky. he was convict on the 45 counts of child sex abuse. the 70-year-old is serving a 30-60 year prison sentence. u.s. women's soccer star hope solo will be in court todayed to answer accusations she assaulted several members of her family. solo was arrested early saturday morning after investigators responded to a call about a woman hitting people. when they got thereto, they say solo was drunk and upset and they believe she hit her sister

yesterday. giants kicking off a three game series against the padres. they beat them in arizona 4-1. 4:53, team usa back in south hallow this morning ready to hit the pitch. you're up for a huge match-up. the team tweeting out this picture overnight. thousands showed up at viewing parties across the bay area to watch the u.s. take on portugal with a 2-1 lead. time winding down. u.s. seemed like a lot to advance to the next round, but you probably heard portugal managed to punch in the tieing goal and what proved to be a tieing goal in the game. u.s. and lose to germany and advance based on the breaker. however if they win or tie. they're autoically in. that was the theme in rio yesterday, thousands of world cup fans trying to find their way through the city in the dark. the power went out for two hours in an area filled with tourists.
