from nbc bay area, this is "today in the bay." well good morning everyone, 4:30 on a thursday, i'm scott mcgrew. >> and it's close to friday, i'm laura garcia-cannon. let's take a live look outside this morning overlooking san jose. fresh and bright, roads are wet after overnight rain. time to check that microclimate weather forecast with christina loren. >> hey good morning to you, happy thursday, or friday eve as we like to call it around here. good-looking day shaping up. unusual to see this, but a fast moving batch of rain rolled through the bay area over the last three hours and there's more on the way. we're going to time the system

out to your doorstep and let you know to expect shower activity throughout the day today. what you can expect, beautiful conditions, temps in the 70s. we'll get to the forecast, right now let's welcome in mike inouye. we have damp roadways, be careful. it wasn't wet enough to call off the construction. this is looking at westbound 580 towards the dublin interchange. we look at the speed sensors and going eastbound out of livermore, we have a little slowing as you travel 580 through the pass. typical there, closer to the bay, no real issues. construction for 880 tluf oakland, typical there. as well as in the south bay, couple of spots here and there. we'll check out san jose closer up coming up back to you. shooter on the loose in san francisco. he opened fire outside a busy store. investigators say two men were arguing inside a t.j.maxx near the intersection of heirson and fourth street. the fights spilled outside.

one of the men shot the other in the stomach and took off. the victim taken to san francisco general, no update on his condition. investigators are looking into the cause of a fire. it started late last night on stanford property on menlo park. crews briefly shut down the freeway in both directions because of thick smoke. when crews arrived, they deenergized the lab's accelerator and put out the fire. crews say it appears the fire started in an electrical switching cabinet. no one was hurt and crews say there was no threat to the public. at two miles long, it's the longest accelerator in the world. the search is on for a driver of a black sedan who hit someone overnight in the south bay. the area of four hoax roadblocked for a while while crews investigated that hit-and-run, happened at 10:00 last night. victim taken to the hospital and he should survive.

it took more than a day for investigators to catch up with an arson suspect once they released his picture to the public. we showed you a picture yesterday. he was wanted for setting more than a dozen fires at construction sites and building in the south of market neighborhood in san francisco. the man was arrested yesterday. investigators are expected to release more information about his arrest today. cal osha joined the investigation into what caused a fire truck to flip at oakland airport. mitchell owe seriously injured in that accident. he's awake and breathing on his own. he was driving the truck. cal osha and the chp seeing if there were safety violations. 4:33 rather, the state supreme court will allow two former bus mechanics to sue a company for reportedly supplying san francisco with unsafe school buses. that's according to the chronicle. some of the buses they worked on have thin brake linings, bad

tire treads and were not inspected as often as should have been. laid law transit provided buses to the city for more than 20 years. in just a few hours, local leaders will old a news conference at the golden gate bridge to talk about how they're going to pay for new suicide barrier to be installed. here's a live look where mark leno will be joined by health professionals to present more information about putting up a barrier on the bridge. sop far, $76 million have been set aside to build the baredier and a transportation board will vote on it tomorrow. a lot of opposition to the proposal because some think it would be too expensive, hard to install, and an eyesore. today is the day in just a few hours, go pro will ring the opening bell, launch the first day of trading. gopro has a cold following, you've seen whae it can do, high definition video, jumping out of an airplane or skiing. gopro will trade on the nasdaq

under the symbol gpro and shares will trade at $24 after it priced at the high end of its range last night. and at that offering price, worth about $3 billion. last year the company generated nearly a bm in revenue selling its cameras. here's the fella behind gopro. he's goproing himself as he accepts an award. he's an avid sportsman, he graduated from ucsd and formed goodpro with his college classmates. it'll be up to investors today to decide if it has a future or just a flash in the pan. consumer tech, very hard to predict. things get cheaper and more common. remember at one point, cisco paid a half billion to buy flip video. flip cameras don't exist anymore. >> i have one on a shelf somewhere, young man. 4:45, the weather could post

fifa to postpone the match. there's heavy rain and flooding in the city. the game is slated to be played. referees will need decide if the game can be played. the u.s. needs to win or tie to move on to that knockout round. however they could still lose an advance on to tie breakers, but there's no guarantee. today's battle between the u.s. and germany expected to be a show down in the world cup competition. millions of americans talked about it, tweeting about it. they'll wear the colors and watch as team usa fights to move on. now the game starts in a matter of hours at 9:00 this morning, there are numerous viewing parties planned across the country as well as here in the bay area. it'll be shown on the royal exchanges, 17 tv screens in san francisco. viewing party will also be held in the civic center plaza in the city. south bay, head to rookie sports lodge or gold on gratamia.

she spoke at theater last night to promote her book, "hard choices," and why she is not committed for a run to the president. clinton is expecting a grandchild. the former first lady also announced that clinton initiative is coming to oakland. it's a childhood development program called too small to fail. formal announcement is expected next month. the u.s. supreme court will police must have a warrant before searching your cell phone. police must get a search warrant before going through cell phones following an arrest. the state of california which was on the losing side of the case disagreed with the ruling saying the law will make it more difficult for police officers to do their job. the supreme court also ruled a company called aereo has to stop selling broadcast of live television on the internet. the company rebroadcast television that aired over the internet. it also does live television as well. several tv networks, cable companies, a few others sued to

make areoe says it only offered advance antenna services. after nearly a week, water leak in the south bay is finally been capped. last night crews fixed the leak in the neighborhood. it started on byerly avenue. the company fixed the leak in a reasonable amount of time. neighbors say it took too long. he had to call the company a few times before they finally showed up. in response, the san jose water company has to alert all utility companies first so gas and cable lines can be checked before they open up the street. >> yes, it's not losing an insignature amount of water, but we need to follow the safety procedures so that we can repair they are thing as quickly and safely as we possibly can. >> san jose water says their track water of preventing leaks and wasted water is well above the national average. well, we got gopro on the nasdaq this morning, all kinds

of interesting things including surprising information about the gross domestic product. let's check in with courtney reagan live at cnc world headquarters. >> reporter: good morning, scott, futures are lower after stocks rose on wednesday despite a report that the economy performed worse than previously thought. traders are shrugging off the numbers. the impact of severe winter weather. for today on spending. the dow rising 49 points 16,867. nasdaq up 29 to 14 year high, 4379. well gm is selling dealers -- telling dealers to stop selling the cruise because of an air bag issue. it may have been insubstantialed with an incorrect part. gm could resume sales later this week, but it'll recall cars that have already been sold. gm announced 44 recalls this year affecting nearly 18 million vehicles. and facebook is the latest major

malaysian plane. they're confident the plane was flying on autopilot until it ran out of fuel and crashed. that same data led investigators to shift the search for the plane further south of the most recent suspected crash site in a remote stretch of the indian ocean. the new search area's based on fresh analysis of existing satellite data from the plane. it has been more than three months since that plane disappeared. this morning, house speaker john boehner says he wants to sue president obama to try to, because obama is trying to change the law he says. boehner says instead of faithfully executing the laws, the constitution requires, president obama is using executive orders to change the law. >> not only does the president ignore the law, he brags about it, arrogance and incompetence right down the line. >> bain der not say rather which executive actions he plans to challenge. president obama has used order toes stop deporting young
