from nbc bay area, this is "today in the bay." well good morning everyone, happy thursday, 4:30 in the morning, i'm scott mcgrew. >> i'm bright and early. i'm laura garcia-cannon. let's check the forecast with meteorologist christina loren, good morning. >> hey good morning to you. new day begins, thursday, so close to the weekend now, and we've got some really great changes coming your way in the weather department. looking at the bay bridge this morning, which you can see from top to bottom. we have some low clouds overhead. as we head throughout the day though, the big weather story, not as sticky. i think a lot of people are going to be happy about that. we will take you through your weekend forecast in just a few

moments, right now though let's say good morning to mike. >> good morning, roads not sticky either. we are looking towards oakland, 880 past the coliseum, easy drive. construction crews through san leandro. lose a lane, maybe two south of davis. 88, 580, we also do have a little more construction as you head through downtown. tonight, the second game for at&t park, a's versus giants, midday game, there's going to be traffic there. no problem right now. we're expecting a late morning commute to build up after things ease off after the morning commute. and just in, new incident, sounds like there's a stall at west 580 around north livermore avenue. i'll get details from chp. no slowing in the last couple of minutes, back to you. mike developing tense situation in the middle east, israel dramatically air strikes.

to go see it for yourself? >> i'm not interested in photo ops, i'm interested in solving a problem. >> yesterday the president and rick perry met privately about how to handle the influx of children who crossed into border. perry wants drones and guard troops at the border and policy changes to deport children faster. 4:34, today a crucial vote in richmond could give the chevron refinery a facelift. dozens made their feelings known at the city's planning commission meeting. chevron wants to renovate, but not even is in favor of it. some neighbors say they do not trust chevron to conduct clean and safe projects especially after the massive fire two years ago. >> there's a quarter of refining starting in richmond going all the way out to martinez that have disproportionately affected people in that zone.

so this is really not just richmond issue, it's also a regional issue. chevron says the project would add hundreds of jobs and expand the ability to process crude oil and oil with higher levels of sulfur. second meeting is scheduled for tonight and the planning commission will decide whether to certify an environmental impact report. if approved, it would allow them to move forward with the renovations. fight is not over, defense attorneys plan to appeal the verdict in the civil case surrounding bryan stow. after four weeks of testimony and nine days of deliberations, the jury decided the l.a. dodgers share responsibility for stow's injuries along with his attackers lou we sanchez and marvin norwood. they were convicted of assault earlier this year. yesterday the jury decided the dodgers should pay him nearly $15 million. stow will never be able to work again. another million for pain and

suffering. a bay area sports law and ethics professor says the verdict delivers a clear message to pro-sports organizations. >> some responsibility of the owner of the facility to create a safe environment when we bring our families to a sports stadium, we expect to be safe. >> now while the dodgers are on the hook, jurors decided the former team owner frank mccourt was not responsible. the brutal attack at the parking lot three years ago left stow with permanent brain damage. 4:36, new details on the high end prostitute killed of -- accused of killing a google executive, forest hayes may not have been a call girl's only victim. yesterday she was charged with a felony manslaughter. detectives say she injected him with a deadly dose of heroin on his santa cruz yacht last november. a security camera showing pickleman step over his body to grab a glass of wine. >> she shows no concern for them. didn't bother to call 911.

didn't bother to render cpr herself or get any aid. scream out to any of the other boats in the area for help. >> police say she's done this before. as they investigated hayes's death, they discovered she had another male companion who also died of a heroin overdose. protesters plan to keep camping outside the home of the man known as the pillow case rapist. christopher hubbard was released from a state hospital yesterday and transported to lake los angeles. it's about an hour north of downtown l.a. he was greeted by a rowdy crowd. message, he's not wanted in their neighborhood. many say they'll stay in front of his home until he decides to move out. hubbard admitted to raping more than three dozen women in the 1970s and 80s and including some in the bay area. he'll have to wear 247 hour gps monitoring device for the rest of his life. dozens of pot shops are protesting. they will be forced to shut

doors due to new city restrictions. sop today the clubs will gather in front of san jose city hall and fight back. they're encouraging the community to join in. the clubs are offering a voucher for a free medical marijuana evaluation. the first 1,000 people to show up if they qualify he or she can get a free cannabis card. >> we're passing it out to san jose residents. and nothing wrong with passing out coupons. >> organizers are also encouraging marijuana supporters to sign a petition for a referendum allowing the clubs to stay in business. 4:38 right now, time to check the microclimate forecast as we look live outside. oh, pretty clear out there from that shot. overlooking the south bay in san jose. pretty gorgeous moon out there as well, if you're out early this morning. i want to check the forecast with christina. >> hey, good morning to you. yeah we have some really interesting changes to go over when it comes do your forecast and now that we're getting so close to the weekend, you're probably wondering, can i get outdoors? will it be too hot? i have all the answers my

friend. 60 degrees in oakland, 57 degrees in half-moon bay. good morning out there. and it's really mild in san francisco, we're starting out the day, yeah, in the mid-60s, 56 for santa rosa as we get into your afternoon, not as humid as yesterday, i had a lot of complaints on my facebook page about the humidity, but i can tell you you'll notice the drier air mass setting is up. we're going to see plenty of midlevel clouds throughout the day today. this is what we're working with temperature wise. really lovely conditions. 82 degrees for the south bay with about half as much humidity as we had yesterday. 78 for the peninsula, 75 on the east shore, that's a nice day in oakland. 65 through san francisco in the north bay, wine country, 76 degrees. soap we're going to dive into the weekend forecast coming up in just a couple moments. aye got a couple things to point out if you are trying to get outdoors. stick farnd you can, if not, mike's here to help you out. looking rather busy that the hour. >> it is, it's 580 and almost always has a good volume of

traffic. westbound with these headlights coming dwards us. you see the flashing lights at the bottom, just west of el charro. no lanes blocked, but eastbound i saw a couple sets of flashing lights. some crossing the overpass right there. they're starting to clear the eastbound traffic as well. you'll see a little slowing past the construction zone, all the way down towards fortolla. there's no slowing, look over on the right, slowing coming off the dublin bridge. 58 usually in the morning as a few more folks started their commute. westbound to pass that, this is a flat tire that was reported, car with a flat tire in the center divide and slowing as you approach springtown road. keep that in mind, but dublin moving smoothly in the westbound direction. over here, as i say this morning within wasn't on the books, but the closure to mission boulevard still in place, and usually lasts until 5:00 when they're there. i did see flashing lights approaching, looks like hate it used automall parkway as your

set to open about 100 points later, lower the dow ended the day at 16,985 yesterday after rising 78. nasdaq at 4419 after adding 27. harley davidson is among those now issuing a recall of 66,000 motorcycles. the front wheel would lock up with that warning. it affects the 2014 touring model. the break line can get pinched between the fuel tank and frame. so far its married of five crashes and two minor injuries involving the problem. jet blue meantime is going to offer free automated checking and for passengers, you're going get an e-mail with a link to print or downtown a board past 24 hours before your flight. this will give the airline more time to flex issues and address special requests. first it'll be for the extra space seats. later on it'll be for everyone.

live looks at at&t park, mckovy cove this morning, the finale of the bay brick gets under way. 12:45 first pitch. hunter pence cut the ribbon at the garden at at&t park. well last night, he decided to do some yard work, smashing the first ever home run into the edible garden. he probably took out some kale along the way. the giants went on to beat the a's 5-2. . >> you're worried about the rabbits. more positive news for the giants, marco could be rejoining the team as soon as tomorrow. manager bruce bochy says he will play one final minor game with him today and as long as he
