earlier this morning. as we head throughout the day, temperatures are starting out mild. still going to be nice out there. the sun will come out really nice finish as onshore flow returns. we'll track the showers and we'll tell you how long they last. always something cooking in the weather department. first though, check your drive, here's mike. good morning christina. over here, stuff cooking overnight, still simmering southbound 880. little further south as you head in between 98 and marina boulevard, losing two lanes because of construction. also single car crash was blocking exit lanes. traffic is flowing past the scene and at the scene should be restored in the next couple of seconds. easier drive across the san mateo and dunn barton, no slowing proiching the toll plaza, and south bay, overnight construction is clear. that's a good flow of traffic typical for monday morning. back to you guys. >> all right, thank you very much. just into the news room, a

flight was forced to make an emergency landing. a spokesperson said the plane had a technical issue and the landing was a precaution. one of the 300 passengers on board was tom daley. he posted this picture on instagram saying here's a pic of the fuel dump before the landing. giving rid of fuel is completely normal procedure. right now the plane is on the runway being examined. passengers are being taken care of by the cabin crew. developing now in the middle east, secretary of state john kerry will arrive in cairo where he'll push for a ceasefire. the number of dead now more than 500. violence peaked yesterday as more than 70 palestinians and 30 israeli soldiers were ki. including two israeli-americans. one is a california native, max stineburg. lived in woodland hills.

last night friends and family members held a small vigil in southern california to honor the young man. he volunteered to join the israeli army last year. his family traveling to israel later today to lay him to rest. meanwhile in one neighborhood in gaza, more than 70 people were killed on the drive into gaza, nbc camera captured survivors trying to get out. there's nowhere to get out to. even so, they are the lucky ones, the morgue is filled to capacity. >> very bad. it's very bad. >> both sides of the middle east conflict have stong support in the ba area. thousands rallied yesterday. >> we want peace. that's what we want. we want stable, quiet for our people, quiet will be met with quiet. we don't want anything from

gaza. >> you're like what can i do about this? we come to the protest to show our emotion with the palestinian people. >> at one point, pro-palestinian rally carried boxes made to look like coffins. turning to that deadly plane crash now in ukraine, overnight another 21 bodies were taken from the wreckage. ukrainian leaders say that brings the total number of bodies recovered to 251. vladimir putin urged the people responsible for shooting down the plane to take responsibility. he reads a statement in a video posted to the kremlin's website. his country will do everything it can to help. the u.n. security council could vote today about whether to give international access to that crash site. in the meantime, crews have piled the bodies on to a refrigerated train but have not sent them yesterday. secretary kerry released a detail to change everything. >> we picked up the imagery of

this launch. we know the trajectory. we know where it came from. >> kerry says mounting evidence suggests the pro-russian separatists are responsible for shooting that plane down. now parts of the plane were removed yesterday. crews using a crane to lift the bigger pieces of the wreckage. most of the work is being done by pro-russian troops, the same group of people accused by ukraine of shooting down the plane in the first place. ukraine is now accusing those troops of hiding evidence that russian weapons were used to shoot down the airliner. several of the people on board the plane were headed to an aids conference in australia. at the conference today, the victims were honored with a moment of silence and then the president of the international aids society dedicated the conversation to those -- conference to those killed. a candle light vigil will be held tomorrow. 20,000 people showed up yesterday to participate in the aids walk in san francisco. it's the state's largest aids

fundraiser. organizers say the walk is bitter sweet because it celebrates advances made against the disease but also remembers those killed by aids. some people say this year was difficult as the walk was dedicated in the memory of those who killed in flight 17. we will continue to update this story throughout the morning and keep you aware of any developments. in the men time, head to our website, nbcbayarea.com for the latest investigation. the surviving suspect from the bank robbery and shootout in stockton will make his first court appearance today. prosecutors plan to charge him with triple murder. the new charges will make 19-year-old jamie ramos responsible for the deaths. 22 counts of attempted murder of a police officer. investigators say at least one bank robber who died in the gun battle robbed the same bank back in january. two suspects were killed along with a hostage in the hour long

chase after last week's rock ri. new this morning, man is recovering after he was shot in the head several times in marin city. happened neefr the intersection of donohue straight and drake avenue. it's not clear what his condition is. we're told after the victim was shot. he walked a block or two before getting help. no word on motive or if investigators have suspects in mind. nine-year-old girl is recovering this morning after she was shot while playing at an oakland park. police say a group of men fired at each other near loul park. this happened saturday night just after 5:00. the little girl was struck by one of the bullets. investigators say she should survive. three other shootings in oakland this weekend, police say they have no suspects identified in any of them. dozens of people had to somewhere else to spend the night after a fire left 246 apartments unlivable. at least for now. the fire started at complex on gallway yesterday, this picture tweeted out by the fire department. the good news is, no one was

hurt. now it is unclear how or where that fire started. complaints are being heard loud and clear today. cal train will upgrade its pa system. the components as stations in san francisco, sunnyvale and san jose were deemed as unrequirable. it'll bring communications up to current standards. it should be complete by early next year. today's the day water prices go up for customers of alameda county water district. people there did such a good job saving water in our drought, it meantless money for the water agency and caused a budget short fall. so they're raising your rates. turning now to our microclimate forecast as we look live at the south bay this morning, it was an interesting weather weekend, and i suspect we're going to have more of the same today. >> let's join christina loren in front of the big radar. >> oh yeah. we have activated the doppler this morning. on a monday morning.

got a couple great benefits though from this monsoonal moisture, obviously it's muggy, not fantastic for the hair. i it tell you it's great for our drought, it's keeping our hillsides nice and moist. and i can tell you as well, air quality, we have not had that many spare the air days so far this morning. now, as of today, officially one month into your summer. temperatures are looking good. mostly in the 60s, mild, don't need a jacket. and the only place we're tracking showers at this point and for the most part this morning, everything that i see leads me to believe they will mostly come down over the east bay, up in the north bay, maybe a few stray cells passing over san francisco, but south of 92 i think we're mostly dry this morning. low clouds right now though. definitely playing a factor. watch out for a little bit of fog at the immediate coast. and we will see that onshore flow return and strengthen for today. that means the cool ocean air is going to feel nice. 77 on the peninsula, 68 degrees,

comfortable conditions in san francisco. i did want to show you, you're at 66 right now, and you're only hitting 68 degrees later on today. not much a spread, but hey, one of those days you can go sans jacket in the city. and lo the of people are in town right now, mike, noticed that over the weekend. >> a lot of folks came to visit. looking here towards the bay bridge, traffic flowing smoothly and nothing as far as visibility issues. we did have on the left approach couple of lanes of slow, they reopened all the cash lanes for the morning commute on the left side. that's a great flow here on the maps. you'll see the drive, incline, no problem, eastbound, slowing out of the city. looks like clearing up whatever was going on there. no problems through the upper east shore freeway and smooth drive out of the north bay across the golden gate bridge. here's the stall. one lane might be blocked in the marina boulevard, but no real concern as far as the commute flow goes.

you're watching "today in the bay." welcome back, time now, 4:44 looking live at the bay lights, they are twinkling this morning. no low fog to speak of, but sping ls in the -- sprinkles in the forecast. president obama will sign an executive order today barring federal contractors from discriminating on the basis of sexual orientation. that order will actually update two previous orders about discrimination already on the books. it adds sexual orientation and gender identity to a list of protected categories for federal

contractors. that order affects 24,000 companies employeeing about 28 million workers. that's about fifth, fifth of the nation's work force. happening today, the cost of flying taking off again. this time security fees are more than doubling. passengers at san jose international say they're not happy about that. some say it's just one more fee, makes them want to cut back on how much they fly. new fee applies to the price of your plane ticket, 250 per leg to 560. if you have a layover lasting more four hours, expect to pay the 560 more than once. for some people, the increase is another reason to drive. >> i think it gets prohibited to take a family and travel. everything is added on. you know, you keep building and building and building and getting feed to the point you can't travel. >> now congressman dated this hike, it's a tsa fee, but most of the money's going to go to reduce the deficit, not to improve security. a lot of eyes are on netflix

this morning as the company prepares to release earnings later today. for the rest of the news before the bell, let's turn to morgan brennan, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, well futures are lower, that's a stocks come off rocky reach. fell sharply on thursday on the geopolitical news on ukraine and the middle east. friday's rally pushed stocks back into positive territory. a huge week for corporate earnings as a dozen dow stocks an more than a quarter of the s&p 500 report results. the dow rising 123 points friday to 17,100. the nasdaq adding 68 to 4432. gm reportedly told cadillac dealers to stop selling some cts models because it doesn't have a fix yet for an ignition switch problem. gm recalled more than 550,000 cadillac last month, and the automaker says the engine can shut off if the drivers knee

if the -- you can't see in the picture is there's plenty of low clouds. live look at san jose from high atop mount hamilton. beautiful start here and there you can make out the low cloud. as we get into this afternoon, oh, do we have a beautiful day shaping up. 81 degrees in the south bay, 76 degrees today in oakland. right around 77 on the peninsula. then throughout tuesday into wednesday, staying mild, nice and level, then the climb is on. thursday, friday, all the way into the weekend. you'll notice in the seven-day forecast, we're going to keep warming you up. triple digits will be back, only in the hot spots with, a enwe'll keep warming through sunday. we have time before the heat comes in. we'll keep you updated, now back to yo you scott and kris. >> thank you very much. bay area volunteers are headed to washington state to provide relief for families forced out by a dangerously large fire. 150 homes are already destroyed, hundreds more are still under

evacuation. four volunteers will help evacuees by providing shelter, food, and emotional relief. the fire has burned 467 square miles, which is can't the -- which is about the size of los angeles, twice the size of san jose. so far, it's only 2% contained. >> we never believed that it was going to jump the river and come over here and do this. had no idea. >> and when you came back? >> this is what, this is what we saw. >> yesterday a washington man died of a heart attack while he and his wife tried to save their home. washington officials say the man was a retired marine who sometimes worked with the fire department. volunteers in the south bay will take a bus load of supplies to undocumented did immigrant children -- immigrant children in southern california today. people have been dropping off clothing and toiletries in san jose. those donations will go to children and mothers who have been greeted by protesters and
