1,000 homes and killed six people. hurricane iselle is expected to slam into the island thursday night with winds up to 90 miles per hour. in less than 48 hours later, an equally strong hurricane julio. >> a lot of heavy rain will fall significantly. >> an unprecedented double threat that hits thousands of vacationers, more than a million halfens used to hang loose, hunkering down and holding on tight. the governor of hawaii has issued an emergency proclamation, schools on the main island and maui will be closed and every island going into effect later this morning. al. >> thank you so much. stay safe. make sure you and your crew are hunkered down tonight t. first time in 31 years, we have seen two hurricanes threatening the island, julio is back east.

one we're concerned is iselle. 405 miles east. 90-mile-per-hour winds, it's strengthened a little bit. we have hurricane warnings and tropical storm warnings and as we move out to kaui we are talking about tropical storm watches. here's why things haven't weakened. we are talking water temperatures in the low '80s. to the north, it's in the 70s that's the cooler air. right now it looks like it will come on storm as a category one storm. that means trouble. we are talking about up to a foot of rain, 12 to 16-foot waves, storm surge, then we got julio behind it, even if it stays to the north, eastern edges of the islands will see strong winds and more rain. so back-to-back storms really an unprecedented, it's not unprecedented, it certainly has not happened in a long time. they're going to be dealing with

a lot of flooding, especially in the mountainous areas there. >> keep an eye on it. >> thank you, al the world health organization is holding another meeting this morning to discuss the ebola outbreak. this as the cdc increases its response to the highest level. dr. nancy snyderman has more. good morning. >> yes, the cdc has ramp etted up its warning level. now this is the longest and deadliest ebola outbreak in history. while normally contained, this one popped up in enough countries now we are talking about it as a global threat. in geneva this morning, an emergency meeting of the world health organization as experts determine whether the ebola outbreak now qualifies as a public health emergency. this as the cdc emergency operations center elevates its response to the highest levelful level one, reallocateing staffers to focus on containing the outbreak, now focuses where

the w.h.o. reports over 900 people have died from the disease. the outbreak started in march in guinea, moving on to libberia and sierra leone then jumping to lagos, a major population center and an international travel hub. ebillion la's reach extends beyond south africa. a patient died wednesday after traveling back fromcy rfrom sierra leone. they are now receiving treatment in the u.s. and a spanish missionary priest who tested positive for ebola was medevac'ed from liberia to spain. in atlanta dr. kent brantley and naensz riichbold remain at emory hospital.

their dispute over june election results and form a new government. kerry's visit comes two days after major army general harold green was killed in afghanistan by an afghan soldier. general green's body arrived if delaware. bank of america is getting ready to fork over some big bucks as a part of the largest federal settlement in u.s. history. cnbc's courtney reagan joins us to break it all down. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, cnbc reports bank of america will pay up to $17 billion to settle a justice development probe it sold toxic mornings. details need to be work out. reports say banc of america will pay a cash penalty of $9 billion. the rest will go towards helping struggling homeowners. the reportedly comes after a phone call last week between banc of america ceo brian money hasn't and attorney general eric holder.

>> reporter: prosecutors say he's guilty for the murder of raneisha mcbride. >> there was no evidence she was armed. she was a young girl looking for help. >> reporter: his attorney say he felt threatened, awakened in the middle of the night by loud banging on the door, he feared for his life and couldn't call his cell phone to call 911. >> reporter: when officers arrived shortly before 5:00 a.m., they found the 19-year-old dead unarmed and shot in the face. an autopsy shows she was drunk and high at the time. prosecutors say she suffered a concussion hours earlier when she drove into a parked car several blocks away and was looking for help. >> do you you feed a minute, mrs. mcbride? >> no. >> reporter: she told jurors even drunk she wasn't violent

now to an item on one ivy leaguer's back-to-school list making headlines. a dartmouth student wants to carry a gun for her own protection against a known stalker. the university said no. this is a decision that could force the young woman she says to drop out of school. erika kweller has more. >> reporter: good morning, if you mention guns on campus, you are sure to get some attention. this request, though, is not about politics, forte lor lord, she says it is a matter of personal safety. taylor woolrich didn't plan to spend her summer break talking about gun rights. >> i'm here today because i couldn't make him stop for four years. >> reporter: on wednesday, the 20-year-old was in washington, d.c. speaking for a group that advocates for illegal concealed guns on campus and about her desire to carry one. >> i want to feel safe and know that if something did happen, i have the ability to protect myself. >> like many schools, dartmouth

does not allow guns on campus. woolrich wants a weapon to protect herself from this man, who she networking at a san diego coffee shop four years ago. she says that's when bennett began to relentlessly harass and stalk her. she was just 16. the behavior continued after she left for college on the other side of the country. >> he's in dart mouchlt he's on my sorority. >> reporter: she says bennett showed up at her home this past spring hours after she returned for summer break. a noose, a knife, and gloves were found among the items in his car benef. bennett was arrested. a reporter asked bennett about the charges. >> i'm as innocent as the diais long. >> reporter: when pressed, he ended the interview. the next court appearance is august 12th.

"doesn't the gap feed its models? seriously. she looks ill." one poster writing, "looks like she needs a hamburger and some sunlight." not everyone was opposed to the ad. "people say this to my wife all the time, and it's just as hurtful as telling a fat person

that comes along with turning 50. >> girl, here we go. >> this is a simple test and it doesn't hurt. >> reporter: at first, something i had never done before, a bone density test. >> so this thing just scans your bones? that's what it's doing. >> that's exactly what it's doing right now. you don't feel a thing, right? >> no, i don't feel a thing. i love bone density tests. i had no idea. why would anyone say it was a big deal. >> who said it was a big deal? >> i don't know, somebody. >> they lied to you. >> i could have taken a nap. >> reporter: my bone density tested normal, but it was the next test which had me nervous. >> so now on to something you've been through before, mammography. i know it must conger up memories of the journey you've been on. >> reporter: in 2007 that journey with breast cancer included a mammogram just like the one i was about to have. it was a scary time. even though i had been moving forward ever since, these tests do bring back a lot of memories. >> there's something weird i

have to say about walking into a hospital, seeing similar faces, remembering, and you go in and things just trigger things. >> especially when you were diagnosed, you're healthy, it was routine, you got a surprise. >> i want you to turn this way. >> reporter: in the last seven years, i have had several followup mammograms. >> i'm sorry. i have cold hands but a warm heart. >> reporter: it doesn't make them more comfortable, especially with a couple of camera crews in the room. >> the necessary evil is over. >> thank you. >> you're welcome. >> reporter: an ultrasound was the next order of business since i have dense breast tissue and a history of breast cancer. >> what are you seeing? >> normal breast tissue. >> say that again. >> normal breast tissue. >> yay! yay, yay. that is awesome. i'm so happy to be laying here

on this table. i'm so happy. i don't even care who is in this room with me. >> reporter: i had one more test, something i had been putting off out of fear, my heart. heart disease is the leading killer of women in the u.s. it also took the life of someone i loved, my dad. i was only in college when my dad suddenly died of a heart attack, around the same age i am now. because of my age, cardiologist doctor nisa goldberg suggested i get an electrocardiogram to check my heart rhythm. because of my family history, she also suggested a stress test to check my rhythm during physical exertion. >> how are you feeling? >> pretty good. >> breathing okay? >> yes, i think so. >> we did the test. give it to me straight. how am i at 50? >> i think you're fabulous at 50. your cardiac exam, your physical exam is normal. >> reporter: all right. all great news or so i thought.

>> we then went ahead and did a hemoglobin a1c that measures your average blood sugar over three months. and your level was 5.9, and normal is less than 5.7. so we need to work on that. >> too much sugar. >> too much sugar. the 5.9 puts you in the pre diabetes range. >> you're kidding. >> i'm not kidding. >> reporter: so dr. goldberg says cookies were going to have to go. bummer. but luckily i had one more appointment left, the only one i had been looking forward to. >> hi. how are you? >> reporter: with my breast cancer surgeon. >> you had a mammogram and ultrasound today. both tests were negative, so there was nothing suspicious at all on either test which is really good. >> yay, yay, yay. >> it's a really great moment

because you're not defined by breast cancer. >> you're right. i remember the day after i was clear, you said let's remember what just happened today. it's so funny, the other thing i remember when i look at you and i can't even think about it. i remember it well, it was just before i was going in to surgery and my mom was standing there and you gave thumbs up, said to her i'm going to take good care of your daughter. i remember my mom looked at you and held your hands. i was lying on the bed. for some reason, that's my memory, you comforting her. and i thought, like -- and it all sort of comes back, you know. it's weird. >> it was a moment. it was a moment. >> anyway, i remember it very well. thank you. then i put the gas on and slept through the whole thing. >> you have a lot of guts, honey. you do. >> thank you. i love you. >> you're doing fabulous. >> i'm going to come around for a hug. >> she's the best. by the way, it does feel so good to get that news.

>> we are back with our this is 50 celebrating the last of the boomers turning 50 this year. >> like our hoda woman. it's part of our collaboration with the team over at huff post 50. we shared stories of incredible women who have reinvented themselves after the age of 50. >> this is one of those inspiring women. despite several serious health challenges, she found her passion and true calling. here's her story. >> reporter: for 25 years i worked as a sales rep and moved my way up quickly, eventually to vice president. but then the economy changed drastically. during that time, i had to lay off hundreds of people over a period of five years, and somewhere in the back of my mind i knew it could happen to me. at age 55 it did. i was disappointed and uncertain about my future, and then as if on cue, my health took a turn for the worse. i started feeling achy, had trouble breathing, and

eventually found out i was suffering from a chronic lung condition, severe emphazema and add to that lime disease and debilitating arthritis. i felt like my life was spinning out of control until my daughter, a successful massage therapist and yoga teacher at the time, kept encouraging me try yoga. i thought it was a bunch of hokus pokus. i thought, oh, sure, i'll try it someday. later that year i tried a class with a friend. the instructor was middle age, round in the middle, and had great hair. hallelujah. if she could do it, so could i. i loved it, and i decided to take a 200 hour yoga teacher training. i started teaching classes and doing private lessons. now i found my calling. even while tethered to an oxygen tank, i still teach yoga three times a week at the age of 56. you can swon't see me doing a
