rolls of new sod waiting to be installed some time later this morning. we've counted five truckloads so far. and based on the conversation with one of the delivery truck drivers, the team will be reinstalling the same kind of sod. it's a strain of grass that the team has chosen because it needs less water and can handle the riggers of an nfl game, though that has not provening to the case so far. yesterday the organization, you're looking at video from chopper tore up a huge section of the original sod. we're talking about 100 yards long by roughly, maybe 25 to 30 yards wide. it's a very large section of the field. taking out because of proks with the playing surface. these are problems that became apparent during wednesday's open practice when a couple of players slipped during maneuvers as pierces of the field came up. they became so bad that coach harbaugh called practice and moved to the training field next door. apparently the sod hadn't taken root yet, even though it was planted about four months ago.
