important forecast for today, even more important, we have a holiday weekend coming up. so we'll talk about that, first though, it's a traffic tuesday. it's still early, but mike's always tracking something. >> also we're tracking a majority of the bay area school districts, still more to come back online, but we are seeing heavier volume of traffic. we had a number of problems through dublin and pleasanton and sunol as well. today 580 and 680. that's right under where it says livermore. approaching north livermore by the time it gets to tassajara, it's clear. we're looking towards san francisco where on 280 at the alameda off-ramp, there's construction going on as well. i'm going to hand it off to you guys, off bigger issue in san francisco itself. it is our breaking news this morning, several people are out of their homes this morning in san francisco after a fire at an

autorepair shop. "today in the bay's" derek shore is live near balboa park with the latest, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, the residents are out of their apartments after a fire ripped through their home, but it started as you mentioned, they believe, inside one of these auto repair shops. you can see the residents outside. then if we pan over, you can see the apartment building where the flames spread to. there is also a night cluck under it. 20 residents inside that apartment building have been displaced, that's about six or five residences, they aren't exactly sure. they aren't exactly sure why exact this fire started. listen to the fire chief. >> there are a lot of kpusables in the repair shop. there was an auto in there. all of that will be looked at. it's under investigation, everything's preliminary.

>> reporter: and right now the red cross is stepping in to assist. we believe at least the electricity in some of this building has been knocked out. it appears northbound ocean, if that is the correct direction is still shut down, but the good news is san jose is open and we see muni lines running back and forth which will be a big deal as the morning progresses and the commute gets under way, but that is the news for now, 20ed residents out of a home this morning after a fire rips through a gas station and an apartment building. we're live in san francisco, i'm derek shore, "today in the bay." >> thank you derek, we'll keep a close eye on the public transit impacts. now to the continuing coverage of the south napa earthquake. napa valley public schools are closed for a second day today so officials can continue to inspect them for damage. the napa boys and girls club will be open. parents who have to work can drop off kids there. the school close sure's impact some 18,000 students. the peld bridge remanls closed

as well. it is the only bridge that was damaged in the quake and in need of repairs. no word on when it'll reopen. 70 buildings in napa are red tagged and more than 200 buildings are yellow tacked. red means no entry. yellow tagged means moderate damage, limited entry until city clearance. crews still have a lot of work ahead of them as debris piles up and drop off locations throughout town. several schools and parks have been set up as places where people can leave their crash as they clean up their homes and businesses following the earthquake. "today in the bay's" bob redell is live in napa where people are getting an early start this morning. people are really trying to get back to normal. >> reporter: well kris if you think about it, over 48 hours ago. a lot of these items were central to these people in napa. toilet, flat screen tv. furniture, but early sunday morning, that tumbler made this stuff useless, now it sits in this large pile. junk outside napa union high

school. it's one of 12 designated drop off sites waiting to be hauled off to the dump. now across the town at the napa valley mobile home park where will four homes burned to the ground sunday morning. and were natch -- where natural gas line fires damaged a few more. the people who lived there are crossing their fingers that today's the day the water gets turned on. the water line ruptured during sunday's shaker leaving residents without water and gas ever since. to make due, they've grabbed buckets of water from the swimming pool to flush their toilet. >> the toilets get a little ripe after a while. so yeah, we're using it for toilet water. >> reporter: and there's no word yet on when the gas might be restored at the napa valley mobile home park. in the men time, the salvation army is making sure everyone in that park gets three square meals a day. they have a canteen that's been set up there since several hours after the quake. and again, out here, just to

give you a sense of the size of this debris pile, it extends for a good 12 parking spots in front of napa union high school. again, this is one of 12 designated spots. they've had other schools and parks where people if they have debris they can drop it off and the city will take care of it from there. reporting live in napa, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> thanks bob, keeping it real, not just about broken wine bottles in napa. more than 100 people in vallejo may not get anything to eat tomorrow because the church that normally serves free lunches is at risk of collapsing. the first baptist church of vallejo has been there for 100 years. it has provided hot meals every day to people in need. yesterday, 171 people took advantage of the free lunch and then at about 4:00, someone spotted bricks separating from the main structure. damage from sunday's earthquake. ment fire department determined the church was not safe for people to be inside and even shut down nearby highway 29 just in case that building comes

after police arrested a suspect who had barricaded himself inside of an apartment building with a knife. around 9:00 last night, san mateo police evacuated the entire area. those living this the apartment complex were told to shelter in place, application say the suspect was acting erratically before he ran into the building. several hours later, at about 1:00 in the morning, police finally arrested the man. he is a suspect in an assault case with a deadly weapon that occurred on sunday in the same area. dmou all of this happened a at complex on edson street by el ka mee -- camino real. the city council could be leading by example. today council members will vote to stop water grassy areas on medians and in front of city buildings. new report shows santa clara county home owners are failing to conserve enough. according to that report in april, home owners in santa clara saved 13% down to 12% in

is ocean. ocean at san hose, that's where derek shore reported that fierl as he continues the cover the scene. the latest update, ocean avenue is now open, both those major roadways are open. not far there across the freeway from san francisco state. that is a very crowded area later on in the day. muni service uninterrupted as well. again san francisco state back in session. i've heard from my friend mike, traffic is a mess. back out to the real live shots, we're showing you a smooth drive southbound to 101. no disruption through san rafael either, as we talk about the golden gate bridge just fine. south bay, san jose shows a nice volume of traffic. this is a good volume for this time of day, we'll track it, no slowing for san jose. and fremont shows a nice drive all along the east bay. construction through oakland and san leandro continues, back to you. >> you think somebody's at a party and you're the only one that got invited.

developing now, the u.s. is now flying surveillance missions over syria, a move that could pave the way for air strikes against isis militants there. as president obama considers his next move against the terrorist group, isis support celebrate the capture of a military base in northeast syria. according to the new york times, president obama approved both manned and unmanned surveillance flights over the nation. a senior white house official without comment directly on the flights but said the u.s. will quote use all the tools.

head across the silicon valley throughout the day today, getting spoiled yet again, the envy of the nation weather wise. just spectacular conditions. and this is the reason why, it's actually showing up on your satellite imagery this morning. so we have a little area of low pressure, just offshore, you can see that counterclockwise rotation, and for us, that's going to you shaller in a strong onshore flow bringing in the low clouds all morning long. and you can see at this point, we have a little bit of patchy coastal fog out there this morning as well. as you wake up, count on a little drizzle possibly. at least for the next couple hours, 82 degrees in the south bay today. 68, san francisco, 87 in the north bay. fog to sun and temps just about at average for this time of year. as we get into the midsection of the week, temps will spike starting tomorrow, valleys near 90 degrees. then this weekend, subtropical clouds increase and we bring in a chance for some showers. but really, as we get into the next three days, i want to focus on the warmup, temperatures are

going to feel much warmer than they have over the past seven days through wednesday and thursday. if we break that heat just a touch friday into saturday with that chance for showers showing you a little bit more of that coming up in just a minute. your future cast is ready to go. right now back to you sam and kris. >> we could use label the of rain. happening right now, hurricane marie is making her way towards southern california, and stirring up the surf along the way. this video from mexico shows the high surf triggered by marie. the category four storm is expected to weaken significantly as it makes its way north. but experts predict dangerous beach conditions in southern california for the next few days. the l.a. times is reporting that are life guards at newport beach and other areas are beefing up their proms. experts predict the surf will peek tomorrow and subside thursday and friday. men time in the atlantic, cristobal strengthened to a hurricane status. over the weekend, the storm pounded puerto rico and other islands in the caribbeans.

three people were swept away from rain swollen rivers. the storm is now moving away from the bahamas. back here to the bay area, deadly shooting back stable at mountain view shoreline amp theeter is raising concerns this morning about the security at that popular concert venue. this is thousands of people were leaving shoreline friday night, a promoter was gunned down backstage. we spoke with a man whose been working behind the scenes for many years ashld the bay area and though he didn't to want share his identity, he told us if you have the right path, guest, vip, or working crew pass. the backstage is all yours. >> i would say more often than not, no one is back there to make sure the correct people are back there. somebody looking for trouble, they're going to conceal a weapon and bring it in whether it's a gun or a pocket knife. >> mountain view police are handing this homicide investigation. yesterday they announced the arrest of young jeezy along with five other people in connection with an incident there.

the suspects are facing weapons charges, but are not yet suspects in the killing. this was a tough pill for many to swallow, thousands shut out of burningman after rain forced the event to close. the popular event in the nevada desert got a rare downpour yesterday. turning the area into a muddy bless. organizers had to close entry to the event because the vehicles were getting stuck. the venue was closed all of yesterday and could stay continued closed for the morning. there is still a chance of rain until the forecast as we will gets to later on in the show. >> it seems like the folks make the best of it no matter what. >> they do. communal experience, they're have there to have a good time. the biggest stars in television came together for the emmy awards last night. >> but it was one star who was missing that stole the show. >> maybe along the way, take my hand, tell a few jokes and have some fun. >> come on pal, not afraid, are you?

>> long time friend billy crystal had the honor of paying tribute to robin williams who died two weeks ago. he had not spoken publicly about his friend robin williams's death until last night. >> it's very hard to talk about him in the past because he was so present in all of our lives. for almost 40 years, he was the brightest star in a comedy galaxy. >> robin williams was nominated for four emmy's during his career. his first starring tv role was in mork and mindy. the show saw several repeats, the final season of breaking bad won best drama for the second straight year. the star won best actor, also for the second straight year. modern family continued its winning streak for best comedy. the comedy acting honors went to jim hars bs of the big bang theory, and, there she is, beat.
