from nbc bay area, this is "today in the bay." good tuesday morning to you, it's 4:30 i'm sam brock. >> and i'm laura garcia-cannon. lots to get to this morning, let's check in with meteorologist christina loren. >> hey, we have a lot of fog out there this morning. good morning, sam, laura, everybody at home. looking at the bay area and your satellite imagery. and you can see the difference between yesterday and today. the strong onshore flow is back, and as a result, the fog is back in san francisco. and here in san jose this morning. we're mostly clear, but things are going to change. we'll keep you updated right now

back to you sam and laura. >> thank you christina. breaking news to bring you this morning, an unwelcome wakeup call in danville. this car lost control and slammed into a house and took out a gas main. gas is still flowing from the line. this is happening on midland way. right now pg&e crews are digging a hole to shut off the gas. we were just told that the leak has been addressed. stephanie chuang is headed to the area right now, she'll have a live report as soon as she gets there. we also have new details about a deadly crash involving an amtrak train in oakland. no one on board was hurt when it slammed into an suv. the driver inside was killed. the crash happened just after 10:00 last night near the intersection of san leandro and high street. not far from the fruitvale bart

station. it travels between los angeles and seattle. it's unclear what the suv was doing on the tracks in the first place. let's bring in mike inouye right now, what's the impact to the commute? >> so far, no delays on the system, but we have not gotten the all clear. those tracks as far as i know, those will be union pacific. that could potentially affect capitol corridor. i don't see delays posted there, also the train could be affected. that won't come in until later. we're watching, as you mentioned the fruitvale bart station. looking over here towards and a smooth drive with a good volume of traffic. this tuesday we should see a lot of folks coming in. we'll watch, so far, standard right here on the maps as well for 580 coming out of the pass. now 680, we talked about this, sam mentioned the gas leak. midland, just off of san ramone

valley road and south of the sycamore valley road. sam mentioned they have gotten the gas leak under control. we'll watch for traffic control, so far, not affecting your freeway. good flow right there. and we also have better news getting into san francisco. reopening for 280, we'll talk about that in the next report coming up, back to you. it is 4:33, el dorado county police are trying to figure out what happened when a seven-year-old was hurt after shooting with his dad. police say the boy was a few yards away from an adult shooter, both were aiming towards targets about 40 yards away. >> preliminary deputies said that the guns weren't being pointed at anybody. there was plenty of supervision there, they had a good range set up. it all looked relatively safe. >> turns out it wasn't safe. the boy grabbed his chest complaining of pain. when the father looked down, he

saw a hole. deputies think it could have been a ricochet. the boy is expected to survive. once popular surf instructor accused of lewd acts with two minors could be spend the rest of his life in prison. this morning in court, dylan ginor can is expected to plead guilty to dozens of charges. child molestation and possession of child pornography. he's accused of secretly taping girls in the dressing room. he wrote a letter apologizing to the victims and to the community after his arrest one year ago. starting today, santa clara county will host workshops in its new health care system. it came in part due to a recent investigative unit report on local restaurants not keeping their health records readily available. starting october 1st. restaurant owners will have to post plaque cards showing a color score. red is failing.

today's workshop will be held at the community center in cupertino at 2:00. happening today, big part of san francisco's culture will come to life. honoring the most prominent figures in the community is being unveiled. the rainbow honor walk is made up of 20 plaques telling the story of the men and women who stemmed out of the shadows and were honest about the ones they loved. some world figures, others san francisco heroes. like phyllis lines. her plaque sits outside the wine country. >> folks in the 70s were another generation who took this neighborhood to a new place. and celebrating them and celebrating their achievement in a physical way to remind everyone i think season truly special. >> volunteers raised $100,000 for the rainbow walk. it'll be unveiled at 11:00 this

morning. then the fund raising and selection process begins for another 20d plaques. the san mateo county officials will spray for mosquitos after some were found infected last week. redwood city and menlo park are are set to be fogged this evening. the area is industrial and bordered by kempfield avenue in redwood city and jefferson drive in menlo park. that spraying will take place between 9:00 tonight and 5:00 tomorrow morning. 4:36 right now on your tuesday morning. summer over already? >> well, i guess it's the unofficial end of summer, but we have what, a few more weeks, christina? >> the official day is september 22nd. that's when fall officially arrives. we call it the equinox, and it's when the day and night will be of equal length, and after that, our days are start to get shorter. this is what we are working with this morning, already feeling like fall out there. we have a strong onshore flow

night about 9:40 just before 10:00. the arrow is between 101 and at&t park. that is good news though, we don't want to be silly because we had big back-ups from brisbane into the city consistently over the rush hours and that was a huge issue. very clear along the east shore freeway off of the bridge, and we're looking at the north bay as well with no delays. 101 dlu novato in towards the city. palo alto, smooth drive here as well. 101 through palo alto, taillights away past willow. no problem from san jose into this area. bay bridge toll plaza, no backups and no incidents. in fact the overnight road work did not occur because labor day was being observed by the laborers. that's good stuff. we have a wait for the cash lanes because not all is open. one of them is closed on your left approach. and you see that at the bottom of your screen, back to you. >> thank you. breaking news now to update

you on a scary scene we told you moments ago in danville. look that the, the car lost control, slammed into a house, and took out a one inch gas mane as this all happened. stephanie chuang just got the scene, homes were being evacuated, where do things stand right now? >> reporter: hey, good morning, sam. the good news is about half an hour ago, pg&e crews were able to cap the gas leak and therefore, allow about 15 people back into six homes here in this danville neighborhood. you can see the car was actually towed away when we got here about ten minutes ago. but where the work is being done is where they had to cap the leak. this car crashed into the house around 12:40 this morning. but battalion chief told me that because it was hard to actually cap the leak, it took crews three hours, at least three hours to be able to shut off the gas, again that hammed at 4:00 this morning. all we do know is that there was

one driver, male driver of an audi that somehow lost control of his car. again around 12:40 this morning. hitting the left side of the house. and rupturing a one inch gas main line here. pg&e crews got on scene quickly. as a precaution because gas was flowing freely, firefighters were called here and evacuated the homes around here. . again the good news is people back into their homes this morning. pg&e crews now just working to put the finishing touches on this. but it was at one point a dangerous situation for an evacuation to be issued here. as for the driver, all i know is that danville police confirmed one person was arrested. we're working on getting the details of what happened with that person and what he was arrested for. we'll have the latest coming up today on the show. live in danville this morning, stephanie chuang, "today in the bay." >> stephanie, happy to hear everyone is okay, thank you very much. 4:40 on your tuesday morning. still ahead, what the hacking of hollywood means for your smart

claims he stole those pictures from apple's icloud, storage servers used by hundreds of million of people around the world. dozens of nude and risque photos showed up on a picture site. former cyber crime prosecutor mark rash says cloud storage makes it easy for your private information to land in the wrong hands. >> by storing it on the cloud, it becomes a one stop shop for hackers. hackers only have to break in one place to get everybody's data. the celebrities are vulnerable, it means that everybody is vulnerable on the cloud. >> now meantime, apple says it fixed a bug that could have led all this -- let all this happened. the tech giant says there was a flaw and it's fined by phone software. it was vulnerable to attacks where hackers repeatedly tried different pass words to get in. apple says if it does, you fail

five times, it won't let you in. let's look at the markets this morning, we have live at world headquarters, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, scott, all eyes of course on apple. i'm watching the futures pointing to a higher open on wall street as the markets come back from the long weekend. now on friday, the s&p 500 index closed at a record high for the 32nd time this year. the s&p had its best august in 14 years while the nads dak h its best since 2012 and the dow since 2009. look for data on manufacturing and construction sending. we have the dow closing up 18 points on friday to finish at 17,098. the nasdaq up to close at 4580. uber's back in the news this morning. they banned the ride sharing service across that country. according to site uber lacks the permits necessary to operate under german law. but the san francisco based company not pumping the brakes
