california fish and wildlife are still trying to track down the big cat. >> that's right. they are expected again to pick up the search this morning. the mountain lion attacked the 6-year-old boy around 1:00 saturday afternoon while he and his family were hiking. the parents had to fight off the big cat and the boy was taken to valley medical center where at last word he's in fair condition and expected to survive. we're told he suffered moderate injuries. >> the man came down the trail carrying his son. it looked like he had a moderate

laceration. >> once the mountain lion is caught, it will be euthanized and tested for multiple things like rabies. fish and game says the mountain lion attacks are really rare, attacks against humans that is. there have only been 16 reported in california ever. so really rare in this instance. in the meantime, the trails here in this area have been closed as the search for that mountain lion resumes this morning. >> thank you very much, nanette. >> the billionaire owner of chick-fil-a has died. the family's religiously conservative views are well

known. the chain drew criticism when it denounced gay marriage. >> more details now. san jose was one of the first cities in the bay area to get a chick-fil-a. the restaurant's opening triggered protests. this back in 2012 when the shot in north san jose opened. same-sex marriage supporters gathered outside of the building, calling for a boycott of this business. the family said they're very much supportive of the biblical definition of the family unit. >> the next battle for same-sex marriage heats up today. hawaii, i'd how and nevada will hear arguments. a big turnout is expected. public seating in the courtroom will be limited through a

tropical storm stranded dozens of cars on inland freeways. there were also reports of toppled trees and power outages. >> in the central valley, drought conditions have become so harsh in one community, many residents depending on their own wells have run out of water. officials discovered their wells had just gone dry. in all county officials distributed more than 15,000 one-gallon bottles of water. they've also been filling a $2,500 water gallon with water so residents can flush toilets and bathe. al roker visited the city and spoke to residents about the water. >> becky, your kitchen looks
