good morning. we have a lot to get to this morning but we begin with a look at your weather. >> good morning. temperatures are going to be hot again. this might be our last stretch of summer heat and we're going to carry it into your weekend. that means beach weather is looking fantastic. 90 degrees, a warmer day on the east shore. we'll hit 89 on the peninsula and up to 97 today in the north

murder. the judge said there were just not enough facts to support that pistorius was guilty of premeditated murder. course was adjourned for lunch but we should be reconvening any minute. we'll of course bring you additional details as soon as the judge reveals more of her verdict. >> mike had mentioned this moments ago. all lanes on 280 are back open after a deadly crash. it involved a wrong-way driver. the crash happened just after 1:00 this morning. the car heading north in the southbound lanes hit another car. it's not clear which driver was killed. >> well known 49ers radio announcer ted robinson will miss the next two games after making insensitive comments about ray

rice's wife janay. he's been ordered to undergo sensitivity training. earlier this week he said that janay rice is partly to blame for not speaking up. the 49ers say the comments were offensive and are in no way reflective of the team's opinion. the 49ers are taking swift action, management is holding off on mcdonald, their defensive end. he's expected to be in court to face charges next week. the ray rice case has shined the national spotlight on the nfl. many groups are calling for the

resignation of lead commissioner roger goodell, especially when the league reported that goodell received a copy of the date five months earlier. the nfl has hired robert mueller to conduct an independent probe of the issue. there is no word if goodell will be there sunday night for the taken's home opener. laura? >> thank you, sam. today is a significant day we will never forget. 13 years ago today the deadliest terror attack on u.s. soil occurred. we have a live look at new york city now where a memorial now stands for the thousands of men and women killed when terrorists crashed two planes into the twin towers. in just over an hour will be a

moment of silence in newark when the plane hit the south tower. several of the passengers on board flight 93 were from the bay area. a vigil i was held last night in shankville where the plan crashed. passengers tried to take control of the flight before it crashed into a field. today there will be a special tribute for the passengers and crew who died on flight 93. their families will be presented with congressional medals this morning. the park service is working on a memorial in the field where the plane crashed. >> and at 5:46 this morning, all vta buses and trains will stop and drivers will observe a moment of silence in honor of the men and women who died.

>> and in san francisco, a bell will ring later this morning to remember the people, including emergency responders, who died in the 9/11 attack. at 10:00 this morning, there lab public smeen ceremony at sugarv landing park. >> this morning lawmakers are reacting to president obama's primetime speech last night about how the united states plans on dealing with the terrorist group isis. the president announced he's sending hundreds of more troops of iraq but says, quote we shall will not get dragged into another ground war in iraq. the troops are to support training. critics say air strikes but no ground troops is a tricky

weekends. i always miss breakfast by three minutes. >> they can't reserve the phrase brunch, just mcbrunch. >> lake michigan waves reaching up to ten feet tall proved too much for one kayaker. a lifeguard steps in. can you see surfers swim over to get the kayaker on a board but he let goes of that. finally surfers get the kayakers back on the board and he safely makes his way back to shore. >> i just caught a good surf wave and was riding it it in and another diagonal wave came in from another direction and took a little beatdown. >> he's okay. still riding the waves there. there have been more rescues on lake michigan than any other great lake this summer, a little trivia in case anyone asks. >> a lot of good samaritans coming to the rescue there.
