this is "today in the bay." >> good morning, i'm sam brock. >> a live look at south balanced budget amendment 880. that right there is not your normal morning traffic for a monday. a massive pile-up on northbound 880 has both directions shut down for now and for some time. almost a dozen cars were involved in that crash and at

least two helicopters have been called out to take victims to local hospitals. we're learning that nine people were hurt, including three who have critical injuries. let's look at how this was impacting the community and for how long. >> good morning. we don't know how long but we do think it's going to be quite some time. as you look past the coliseum, let's show you the maps of what's going on here. this is the crash on the "nimitz" freeway. we're told that's a big rig, busted out the guardrails, there's so much clean-up, this is going to take at least a few hours as well as the injury and

maybe some investigation. for the time being big rigs are allowed to use 580. you can use san leandro street and the area between marina boulevard and washington. if you're headed toward oakland airport, you're going to have to get familiar with the local roadway as well. this is going to be a big problem going soit from the oakland area to san mateo. there will be a lot of slowing for the "nimitz." stephanie strong is out there and she'll get us more details. this is an active situation. the "nimitz" a closed between marina and san leandro street. we'll give you an update. back to you guys. >> we'll be checking back with

begins to weaken. notice california and southern arizona. we'll certain we'll see rain across parts of southern california as we get into tuesday and wednesday, some of that actually may get redirected toward the bay area. one of the reasons why we could see a slight chance of some showers in our own forecast as we head toward the middle part of the week. a full look at that coming up in just a few minutes. back to you. >> a disappointing end to the 49ers' regular season home games in more way than one. a brutal fourth quarter loss and more frustration for thousands of fans trying to leave levi stadium after the game. this is the green lot. fans were trying to leave and there was no staff to direct people to the exit and no signs to show them the way either.

it was slow and go all the way. >> it was really frustrating. we lost the game and now we're sitting in the parking lot and we've been here 45 minutes and we were parked three stalls up. >> there are no pedestrian walkways. people are darting in and out. >> this is the worst. there's no one directing, no signs. >> it frustrating. we have to go to work tomorrow. this is not good. >> we saw folks driving over curbs just to get to the roadways. we saw folks driving not just over just the curbs but the grass as well. some people say they waited as long as three hours to get out of those parking lots.

transit stations say 9,000 people used the transit the system to get out of the stadium. the next test will be september 28. >> a little trial and error. ray rice is expected to appeal his indefinite suspension from the nfl today and it could be the nail in the coffin for roger goodell's tenure. rice's appeal is expected to say he did not lie about what happened. in fact heeshs clai, he claims league and the commissioner months ago. after the meeting rice was suspended for two games. the commissioner has contradicted rice's report saying he was, quote, ambiguous about what happened inside the

elevator. when video was released last week, the raven terminated rice's contract and goodell suspended him indefinitely. a woman's advocacy group flew this banner over the stadium with the hash tag "goodell must go." ray mcdonald was supposed to be in court today to face felony domestic violence charges. the court has post end to the hearing to saying he needs more time to review his case. until they, he is being allowed to play.

so far the fire has burned more than 300 acres. >> north of there, several nakeds have been evacuated because of a different fire. many residents were told to get out at king fire burned through thousands of acres of brush and trees. this fire is only 10% contained. the forecast calls for cooler  weather and the crews on the ground hope that will help them get the upper hand. >> mandatory evacuations were listed for people living in the silv silv silv silverado canyon fire. crews say they have the fire mostly surrounded. >> and two strike teams from the
