good morning. i'm sam brock. >> and i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> ferry captains are on strike. we go to stephanie chuang. >> reporter: this is going to impact some commutes. we're talking about no ferry service until tomorrow morning. this impacts roughly 8,500 people, plus about 700 who use it to go to the giants game and there is one tonight of course. the ferry captains say this is about unfair labor practices. they want to get paid to train others who want to become ferry captains.

with so many demands on the table, does this mean -- >> the strike was the last thing that the coalition and our union especially wand to do. our members have to commute to work as well, and we understand that hardship. rz at least 100 ferry workers are expected to be on the strike lines today. they are not adding any extra bus service, they're hoping friday light will help with the situation. you have 14 unions and they're all out here in support of the ferry captains. last week you had machinists
