ebay is getting ready to split off paypal. >> executives say it will happen early next year. paypal purchased by ebay way back in 2002 for steal, just $1.5 billion. it would go on to make ebay a staggering amount of money. taking paypal out from under ebay was this man's idea. carl icahn announced who would lead pay pal. but the big news is the current ceo of e bay, john donahoe, is neither one of those two names. they say donahoe will stick with the company through the transition and then move to the board. he's been under criticism. donahoe gets promoted and ebay

from san francisco, booked on felony check fraud and arrest and police say he's also wanted in oklahoma for a sex crime against a minor. he passed a bad check in palo alto. police chased him as he exited the bank. he ended up in a yard of a home on everett court. he told a man in his 60s that he had been jumped and the man brought him inside to help. the homeowner received a phone alert from police for residents to be on the lookout for tabb. but the homeowner didn't think the man the kitchen didn't fit the description. an alert patrol officer recognized him and the man was

caught. now, officers have spoken with that homeowner. they don't believe he meant to harbor a criminal, so they are not going to charge him with anything, but they are hoping that this is a lesson for adults and stranger danger. if you don't know the person, don't let them in your home. reporting live, bob redell. >> good advice there, bob. >> a warning for people traveling to san francisco that will draw some big crowds and criminals. police say thieves are focusing in on cameras especially close to popular tourist attraction. and with the harley blue grass and fleet week around the corner, they want everyone to keep their eyes open. they say a photographer was robbed sunday morning and there have been other incidences of thieves stealing camera

equipment. >> the new span of the bay bridge will be shown to the bridge oversight panel. you'll recall more than two dozen steel rods broken when they were tightened during construction last year. those failures prompted an investigation of more than 2,000 other fasteners or the bridge to determine if they are also at risk. >> the saying where california goes, so goes the nation, so you could expect to have to carry your reusable bags everywhere you go in the country, if governor brown signs a bill in a would make california the first state to ban single-use plastic bags or pay a fee for them. in much of the state you can still get plastic. i just got a few plastic bags at

the market in gilroy this weekend. another bill getting a lot of attention would take guns out of the hands of people considered unstable. the bill would allow family members or law enforcement to get a 21-day restraining order for people considered to be a danger to themselves or to others. supporters say this could have made a difference in the shootings isle vista but would prevent owners from seeking substance or mental abuse treatment. the mayors are san jose, san francisco and oakland support the bills. this year the governor has signed more than half of what he

usually signs in a regular session, likely something to do with the election. >> that little one that's coming up. one to watch. thanks a lot, kris. >> workers in san francisco could still walk the pickett ly lines. union members of the courts overwhelmingly voted to approve a strike over wage increases. stephanie, how far along are they? >> reporter: pretty far. they sent a strong message that they didn't want to strike but last night they counted the votes and a could strike at any moment from here on out. the worry is a repeat from a few years ago that effectively shut

down the court system after an announcement there would be a 5% decrease in wages. after a rally outside the civic center courthouse left the day without clerks, the courts did come to a negotiation. at issue now is the union's demand for more pay. the union said the court has acknowledged $16 million in reserves and workers want some of that money to go to up to 3.5% raise starting january 1st. last witness again, dozens rallied here at the courthouse aimed at court executive officers michael yen who oversees a $100 million budget and manages 150 employees here. so far no response from court imagi management. local leaders have voiced their

opinions. what they have to say and who they're siding with coming up. >> this should come as no surprise but it done mean it's not disconcerting. this year going down in the record books as one of the driest years ever. the department of wart resources says there is no indication the water year that begins tomorrow will be any wetter than this past one was. this year ended with less than 60% average rain. meteorologists predict el nino conditions this water year. that does not mean there will be enough water to fill the state's reservoirs and 60% of average, that sounds really rough. >> we could use a series of super soakers, christinachristi. >> allow me to put it into context for you. just from one good storm, can you make up some significant totals. that's exactly what we did last

comfortable, 79 degrees in the south bay, 77 on the peninsula. in san francisco, 82 for the north day. on the east shore region, 73 for you. let's get to the good stuff. i see sam sitting at the edge of his seat right now because he wants to know. i think everybody does. this is cool stuff. in the month of september, we typically average just and you quarter of an inch rain in the south bay. last week's storm doubled that. the peninsula, you typically average just under .02. you picked up almost three quarters for one single storm. in the month of october we bring tease up significantly and we are looking for a pretty wet pattern. you have to wait for it and right now you'll bulls eyes the 13th through the 16th.

near civic center plaza. we're still working to confirm details but we know at least one man has been shot. police say there's no word on a suspect. we're keeping our eye on the story and will bring you information as soon as we get it. >> officers chasing down a fraud suspect may have caught someone much more sinister than they originally thought. peninsula police, bob, eventually caught up with this man after a bit of a run. >> reporter: good morning, sam. it took police a while to find the subject because the palo alto resident invited him inside his home, not knowing his new fr friend was wanted by police and also wanted in oklahoma for sexual assault on a child.

the 35-year-old man allegedly passed a bad check at a local bank of america branch. police chased him. y -- he ended up in the yard of a man in his 60 on everett court. he told the man who lived there he had been jumped and the man invited him inside and fed him a meal. the homeowner received a phone alert from police for residents to be on the lookout for tabb but the homeowner didn't think the man he invited inside his house fit that description. tabb talked his new friend into giving him a ride back to his home and to the train station. an alert police officer saw him leave the house. there was a chase and tabb was caught hiding between copper street and middlefield road. he's been booked on check fraud and resisting arrest and he's

investigators say the two suspects do not know each other. >> today we could hear from the man accused of beating another man to death inside of a south san francisco gym. he beat another man earlier this month with a piece of gym equipment. police say osako's girl friend flirted with the man earlier in that week. she was not in the gym when the incident occurred. >> stephanie, court workers are asking for a pay raise but how far apart are workers were management? >> pretty far apart. over 90% of union members voted to authorize a strike. that could mean shutdowns at

places like the civic center courthouse here. the union held a one-day strike two years that i go effectively shut down much of the san francisco court system. while the court said it was able to go on with top priority business like criminal cases, employees like court clerks and people who file documents, they all walked the pickett line after the court announced a 5% wage decrease. the issue now is the union's demands for more pay. the union said the court has acknowledged it has $16 million in reserve and workers want some of that money to go anywhere from 3% to 3.5% raise as of january 1st. dozens rallied at the courthouse, including the sheriff, who is running for reelection next year. he said he knows how hard people work and stands with them in their struggle for fair wages.

people on board in march. experts believe the plane lost saturday light communication and kept flying until it ran out of fuel and crash. >> and back here in the u.s., a court case for medical marijuana -- that medical marijuana supporters are watching very quickly. it could set a new precedent for medicinal pot in the workplace. a quadriplegic man was fired from his job at dish network after testing positive for marijuana at work. he said he uses the pot to prevent symptoms. dish network says because

marijuana is still against the law federally, it is a violation. >> dennis allen was reportedly fired over the phone after the raiders lost to miami. the raid verse lost ten straight games and start the season with an 0-4 record. there is speculation tony sparano, the team's offensive line coach could take over. other reports say the raiders are seriously thinking about bringing jon gruden back. now, while the raiders work out their coaching issues, the commission is expected to do away with the nfl blackout rules. the rule was put in place to make sure the fans went to games instead of watching it at home.
