hawaii. >> and we have some really hot weather to get through today. feeling that heat tomorrow. could be the hottest day since 2012. we're looking at the south bay and san francisco for that. getting relief by sunday and monday. lots to go over in moments. >> plus, a major change coming to one of the biggest interchanges in the south bay. how your commute around stevens creek boulevard is about to become very different. >> and as you approach that interchange, we'll talk about what you will see as far as the traffic flow coming up as well. >> and a live peek outside. it's clear, it's going to be a hot one as christina mentioned. we'll tell you when and where. it's october 2nd. this is "today in the bay." >> and a good thursday morning to you. thank you for joining us. i'm sam brock.

>> and i'm laura garcia-cannon. major changes to one of the south bay's busiest freeways that could impact the upcoming shopping season. bob redell, shoppers are going to see a relief near steven's creek boulevard. it can get backed up there? >> reporter: absolutely, especially during the holiday season. workers just opened up two brand new on and off ramps that will connect people from beaver's creek to the 280-880 interchange. now, this represents a significant step towards improving that flow of traffic. there's going to be a total of three new on and off ramps. now, this is part of a $62 million project that started in

2012. by thanksgiving, there will be -- that would be another improvement that will help improve the flow of traffic during that shopping season. the project will end next year with the opening of a new flyover from northbound 280 to northbound 880. again, reporting live here in san jose, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> if we can talk about -- >> let talk about one issue at a time. reminder, it is not summer, it is fall. >> fall fashion. we need to pull out the short, right christina? >> and sam has on shorts.

a developing story right now. it's there's fear another person could be infected with the ebola virus. the person is now at a hawaii hospital. and there's worry that the first man diagnosed with the virus may have come in contact with other people. >> reporter: the texas case, the man already diagnosed with ebola. it was just last night that texas hand officials hand delivered orders to four of thomas duncan's close family members to stay home and not have approval -- the family members don't have symptoms s y

stay. a mistake at a local hospital could have costly consequencesduncan was sent home after feeling sick. that means 18 people may have had contact with duncan, monday them five children. the children are being monday serd but, still, there's no enough where i know -- you're just wondering why she came. when she tells me, i got really scared. >> and in hawaii, officials have identified one patient who might have ebola. so far the patient's clinical preducks and it's spread by direct contact with blood or

we're live with what we're just learning about this incident. good morning and what can you tell us? >> good morning. definitely a scary situation for the homeowner here in the 3,100 block of santa clara. investigators are still here on the scene investigating this burglary. police tell me a suspect broke into a home and was then confronted by the homeowner. that's when the homeowner confronted the suspect and they got into a confrontation and the suspect stabbed the victim several times. police say then the suspect fled from that scene. right now they have they do tell me that the suspect was hiding around the corner on the other side of the street and they found him. the suspect was arrested.
