face fever screenings. it will happen at five u.s. airports. >> these five airports are the destination of 94% of individuals who travel to the united states from the three countries that are currently affected by ebola. the move comes after the first ebola death on u.s. soil. thomas eric duncan died wednesday in dallas. and more signs ebola fears aren't dwindling. a new poll says 51% of americans worry about a u.s. outbreak. nbc's tracie potts is in washington. tracie, good morning. that situation with ebola in texas isn't over yet. >> reporter: well, it is not because now there is a deputy in dallas who was inside the apartment of thomas duncan for 30 minutes who is reporting some symptoms. it is important to note he doesn't have ebola. it has not been confirmed. but because he was there, because he had contact with the family and now has some symptoms, they are taking every precaution. the dallas deputy who served a

quarantine order to thomas duncan's family went to the hospital after developing fatigue and stomach pain. >> just a very scary time. we're trying to get through it. >> reporter: duncan's body being wrapped in three layer of plastic, he'll be cremated to prevent the spread of ebola. the cdc is watching 48 people who came in contact with him. >> their thoughts go not only to the shock and sadness of losing mr. duncan, but also whether this will be the course that their life will take next. >> reporter: extra screening for ebola begins at new york's jfk airport saturday including temperature checks. the cdc warns everyone with a fever will not have ebola. >> it would not be surprising if we saw individuals with malaria have a fever after coming back here. >> reporter: in nebraska, the nbc freelancer who developed ebola got an experimental drug and a blood transfusion from the first american to recover.

100 marines are the latest of 4,000 troops headed to west africa. some of those troops will handle blood, possibly tainted with the deadly virus. but president obama says -- >> we're not going to compromise the health and safety of our armed services. >> reporter: it is something the cdc is now very focused on and that's why the screening that we'll see starting this weekend at jfk will expand to newark, chicago's o'hare, washington dulles and atlanta. >> something to expect. thank you very much, tracie potts from washington, d.c. overseas, the scramble to contain the virus intensifies. in spain, the nurse who tested positive for ebola has company. more people are hospitalized. the total is now six. so far none of them has any symptoms. but there is bad news. the infected nurse's dog was euthanized. authorities feared it could transmit the virus. in queensland, australia, a

nurse is hospitalized showing ebola symptoms after working in sierra leone. the pentagon says recent air strikes near kobani, syria, pushed some isis militants back but air power alone may not be enough. six more air strikes have been launched to keep kobani from falling into isis leadership. president obama says the fight against isis is not an easy one. >> our strikes continue alongside our partners. it remains a difficult mission as i indicated from the start. this is not something that is going to be solved overnight. >> australia has made its first air strike against an isis target in iraq. prime minister tony abbott says two bombs were dropped on a facility held by the terrorist group. and in turkey, deadly clashes continue between protesters and police. demonstrators are calling for the government to take action against isis militants in neighboring syria. the white house is fighting back at a new report on the secret service prostitution scandal that erupted in april of

2012. the washington post is reporting that senior white house aides were given information that a member of an advance team hosted a prostitute in his hotel room but that information was never investigated or publicly acknowledged. the alleged incident was right before the president was set to arrive in cartagena, colombia, for a summit. an investigator for the department of homeland security reportedly told senate staffers are, quote, we were directed at the time to delay the report of the investigation until after the 2012 election. that advance team member named jonathan dash declined to be interviewed by the washington post, but through his attorney denies hiring a prostitute or bringing anyone to his hotel room. dash started working this year as a policy adviser in the state department. josh earnest tweeted, supposed wapo exclusive was previously reported by various outlets two years ago. in a statement, the white house spokesman eric shell said, as was reported more than two years

typhoon swept them away and now all are confirmed dead. this as another juggernaut storm, the planet's strongest this year, set its sights on american bases in the same area. forecasterers say the super typhoon intensifntensified. it is an equivalent to a category 5 hurricane. bill karins is with us. we're not in the clear on our end yet. >> not yet. not in the atlantic basin, pacific basin a little longer. we had enough. a ton of rain in arizona from our three systems this year and what is left of tropical storm simon, the moisture from it is still lingering over the state. we haven't seen a lot of rain over the last two days. tucson being the exception. you picked up almost two-thirds of an inch of rain. it is still raining. you can see a little spin there, just to the northeast of phoenix. and so the prescott area of phoenix, still light rain around, this will be it today, after today, this will kick on

they found that in 17 states getting an appropriate form of i.d. costs upwards of nearly $60. in two states that tighten voting restrictions, there was a slight decrease in turnout. that turnout was significantly less than voters aged 18 to 23 and african-americans. same sex couples in kansas can now get married after a judge ordered clerks to begin issuing marriage licenses. but same sex couples in idaho will have to wait at least a few more days. justice anthony kennedy giving proponents until 5:00 p.m. today to respond to the state's request. and how big of a burger fan are you? groupon in london are offering the glam burger. take a look at it. we're talking about kobe beef, that patty from japan, add to that black truffle, lobster, beluga caviar, venison, a duck egg. to make it nice and pretty, an edible gold leaf.
