microclimate forecast. good morning. >> good morning the you. fog free. a little hazy out there. kind of a sign of what's headed our way. when ever you look at this camera you can see the city of san francisco, that's how you know it's going to be warm day. look that the it's crystal clear. we don't have cloud in the sky. it will be a summer like afternoon. because of that we have a red flag fire warning that's in effect. if you're doing any hiking, camping, we strongly discourage any outdoor burning. we have two chance offense rain this upcoming week. the first in midweek and the second towards the weekend. today because of this area of high pressure it's going to be toasty everywhere. hard to escape the heat. maybe an ac day. 77 in san francisco. 93 in the north bay today. east shore and the tri-valley will climb near 90. the tri-valley be low 90s. maybe to spf and drink plenty of

water. we're talking about dangerous heat. any time you want to get in the 90s take it easy. >> second week of october is still seeing warm temperatures. >> yes, and rain coming up. we begin this morning with a south bay burglary. a big story, not for what was taken but a what was left behind. a dog, beaten and bloody. tony said when he returned to his home on friday he realized it had been ransacked. he took this video of bloody paw prints around his home. he feared his dog had been killed. after searching everywhere in the home he finally found the dog hiding on the patio. tony says the burglars stole jewelry, a laptop and other electronics. what really upset him is what they did to his best friend. >> he was so bloody we couldn't recognize him. when i got home it was already

dry. it was sticky all over his face and all over his chest. his paws were all bleeding. >> he's recovering after spending the night at an emergency vet hospital. police are now looking for two male suspects in their late teens or early 20s. officers say if they catch the suspects they will be charged with burglary and animal cruelty. an argument on a soccer field in the mission district caught on camera has now gone viral. the video appears to show several tech workers giving the boot to regular players because they didn't have a permit to be there. the turf fight hitting a nerve of people add some have complained tech workers are taking over the commission district. the video shows a group of men, including some wearing drop box t-shirts showing up to play. instead of joining the game the players who are regulars say the group showed paper work saying they reserved and paid for time at field and they wanted the other players out. >> we never thought there would be a permit in this area because

we have been playing for more than ten years. the high-tech guys don't think you're going to take away our tradition, which is the mission. >> drop box has apologized saying we were disappointed to learn a couple of our employees weren't respectful to this community. new details this morning about a deadly house fire in the east bay. we're learning that oxygen tanks helped fuel that fire. flames first broke out around 3:00 yesterday morning. the 80-year-old man who died was trying to escape flames with the help of neighbor and his daughter. they were unable to get him out of the home. the daughter and neighbor were forced to leave him behind and wait for firefighters. >> they went in and looked for the victim while they were putting out the fire. unfortunately, the victim did parish in the hospital.

>> victim's son and daughter were not seriously hurt. investigators believe an electrical problem started the fire. police say he started a fire that destroyed more than a hundred homes in the town of weed and this morning the man believed responsible for the fire is behind bars. ronald bow marshal was arrested on felony arson charges. he was a person of interest throughout the investigation. the 516 acre fire destroyed almost 150 homes and structures in the small city of weed and more than 1,000 people were forced to evacuate for days. dozens of other homes were badly damaged. marshal is now being held on a quarter billion dollars of bail. home again at last. that's the story for hundreds of people evacuated after the apple gate fire this week. they're being warned not to get too comfortable. the fire is 67% contained after

four days of intense fighting. evacuatored homeowner say they are happy to be back but they remember the fear they felt when ordered to leave with only what they could carry in their cars. >> we were scared. no firefighters and both onramps were burning, we were scared out of our minds. i left so much. you keep thinking there's so much i didn't grab that you don't want to lose. you got to go but you don't want to lee it. >> firefighters say they are optimistic but cannot give residents the final clearance yet. they are still concerned about the dry windy conditions expected today. a developing story out of dallas this morning. a second case of ebola has been diagnosed in the u.s. a health care worker who treated an ebola patient tested positive for the virus. the worker provided care for thomas eric duncan. duncan died there last week. the health care worker reported a low grade fever friday night

and was isolated. preliminary test results came back last night. they are positive for ebola. people who had contact with the worker after symptoms emerged will be monitored based on their exposure. yesterday health screenings began at jft international airport aimed at stopping the disease. on thursday stepped up screening will start at four other international airports. u.s. customs officials leased photos of agents with the equipment they will be using to screen passengers for signs of illness. passengers arriving from liberia and guinea have their temperatures taken with in touch t thermometers. >> no matter how many of these procedures are put into place, we can't get the risk to zero. that will not be the case.

this additional layer should add a measure of security and assurance to the american public. >> on friday a plane from new york was quarantined in las vegas after reports that passenger threw up. no ebola was detected. the president was in town for barely a full day but he raised quite a chunk of change for the dnc. we'll show you how much and the mixed reactions from neighbors that wanted the fund raisers. a look at fleet week from the blue angels to the commissioning of a new ship. we'll show you, next.

let's give you a live look outside at freemont and take you over to san francisco international airport. couple of chances for rain. anthony will give you a heads up. it seems like rowdy and violent fan incidents are associated with oakland raiders fans and not the 49ers. last sunday's bathroom brawl wasn't the first time we heard of niners fans getting out of control. in this morning's reality check we look at the numbers to figure out whether it's raiders or niners fans that get into more trouble at home games. >> reporter: raiders fans get

called out for their tendencies. capable of less than behavior. two central valley men knocked fallow fan unconscious reportedly over use of a stall the question is requesting does oakland have the rougher fan base? we did some digging to those in odot co coliseum. we found through three games at the coliseum two pre-season contests and a regular season bout oakland's police department report an average of 12.3 arrests per game. the niners by comparison have played five games at levi stadium, two remember season and two pregames have racked up 25.2 arrests per game.

that's double the rate of raider nation. it turns out fans of the silver and black are more well mannered, civil even than the 49er faithful, at least that's what the arrest reports indicate at this point of the season. >> law enforcement officials at both stadiums say the vast majority of arrests are for nonviolent incidents like being drunk in public. we have warning for the beach goers and folks doing any hiking today. we'll break it all down. we'll start off first with the red flag fire warning. this is for the dangerous threat that we have because we're talking about the gusty winds that will be with us today. winds will be gusting anywhere from 30 to 40 miles per hour especially above the hills a, 0 thousands feet or higher.

this is where we have the greatest threat for wildfires. the other thing we're tracking is this area of high pressure sitting across the pacific. this is what's driving the gusty winds. it's going to drive the offshore winds that will kick up the waves. because of the winds we're looking at waves that could exceeds 12 to 18 feet. yesterday there was 13-foot r rays. today higher because of that on shore wind. you want to make sure you turn your back on the water today. as you will see some of those waves even though they will billow out they can rush in and really inendate the beach and the sandy part of the beach. don't turn your back on the waves. keep an eye on little ones. when high tide comes in you're not enundated with the waves. we're talking about temperatures near 90 in san jose today. even in palo alto you'll be

scorching near 90. east shore you'll be close to 88. san francisco, you can see starting off clear. 77 expected there. if you're heading down to see the blue angels remember the spf. it's going to feel warm by the bay. north bay, wine country expecting low 90s for today. we want to zoom ahead for tomorrow. even though it will be toasty tomorrow it will be a system sitting off the coast about 200 miles. this is a cold front. it's not expected to impact the entire bay area. what we'll being looking at as we move through the day this system getti intin inting close. tuesday even most likely from the golden gate. i think the north bay will see the better chance of seeing this rain tuesday night into wednesday morning. another system actual the remnants of hurricane or typhoon

vongfong, you may have heard about that making landfall in japan. by friday we'll be looking at another chance of shower activity. that will linger through saturday. in the north bay want to give you a quick recap. this is what we'll be focusing on the most concentrated place. today again 90s. tomorrow a little bit cooler. back into the 80s but still very summer like to start off the workweek. by tuesday is when things really drop off. the cold front moves through. the north bay you'll see the best chance of any shower activity tuesday night into wednesday morning. this will look for like this and then as we head into thursday and friday with that next chance of rain coming in temperatures stay cool. i want to show you the rainfall amounts because this is what we'll be tracking over the week or so. you can see yesterday's rainfall amounts not all that impressive. as this rain event gets each and every day closer more than half

isis fighters. there's probably several thousands defenders of kobani who are trying to prevent the city from falling and perhaps as many as 12,000 other civilians hold up in another area just outside the city of kobani. they are all at risk because the isis militants have surrounded kobani on three sides. they are trying to encircle completely and fighting street to street in the city itself and have already begun posting images onlines and posting them on social media that are very difficult to look at. we haven't been able to verify them but they do seem to be taken by militants inside kobani and show beheadings. they show isis fighters posing by piles of bodies. piles of bodies being put into pickup truck. this could be the beginning.

mpl race may play an unusual role in next month's election. larry, really interesting take you have this morning for us on how ethnicity will factor into an election year where we don't have a presidential contest. you're saying it may not factor in at all. >> it may be factoring out rather than factoring in. they are likely to be a solid a

minority of california's voters. take a look at the ethnic break down. non-hispanic whites, 44%. latinos, 33. asian americans falling down there all the way to native american and others. there are more non-hispanic whites add up to 56% compared to whites. that's a big difference. they're 43% of the population. that's the problem. >> larry, we're talking about more non-whites than whites in california. we haven't seen non-white voters turning out. >> that's the essence of this

whole issue. now you see non-hispanic whites which are a minority of the population, 62% of the voters. african-american 6%. all the way down the line. in every category except african-americans the percentages of expected minority voters go down dramatically. there are consequences here. generally whites are more a afflue affluent. the outcomes on those races may be quite different than the original numbers might suggest. >> these are really interesting to look at this breakdown in this way of what the population is versus what the expected voter turn out is. what do you think accounts for the discrepancy. >> there are a lot of factors but a couple really stand out. large number of minority californians are not yet citi n

citizens so they can't vote. this is an offer year election which means the turn out will be lower than in presidential election years. that means less affluent people are less likely to vote because they don't see the importance. >> larry what i'm getting here is this take away is really counter intuitive even though white voters are in the minority in the pop youlatiulation. they are likely to be represented when it comes to the voter turn out. >> it may be a whole lot reflective of the white minority than the ethnic majority.

welcome back. 7:53 the time now. i want to get you up to speed with your sunday forecast. we have a red flag fire warning. that's going to remain into effect all day today into monday morning. this is where we'll see the greatest threat for anymore wildfire that could break out because the winds will be gusty. i saw that mt. diablo had a wind gust of 47 miles per hour. it's going to be windy all day long especially in the hills above 1,000 feet. the other thing because of the strong wind and it's offshore we got big waves headed this way for all of our bay area beaches. 18 feet today.

yesterday point there was wave height of 13 feet. you want to use caution if you'll be headed out across the beach today. we have a big area of high pressure heading across the pacific. that's why we're seeing the wind and waves. it's pushing all of our storm activity to the north. you can see the clouds around it going right towards oregon and the offshore wind coming right here. with the offshore winds today just expect it to be very warm. you can see the highs today will be downright summer like. 93 in the north bay. 77 in san francisco. east bay at 88. tri-valley will be our warmest at 93 degrees. really once we get towards noon and points after it will feel hot outside. remember the spf if you have to work outside. it's going to be a scorcher of

day. the typhoon vongfong. this thing, the remnants of it is headed toward. nor will we see the tropical storm nature of this. a mid latitude cyclone so what will happen at typical cold fronts will come through and produce heavy rain. if you live in the north bay we'll see a chance for showers sooner than that. in fact, it will be a little bit of shower activity. that will come through tuesday and wednesday. that's what will be responsible for dropping our temperatures back into the 70s for the north bay. by tuesday and wednesday the

first chance of rain comes through but by friday and saturday that's when we're looking at it so you can see this was yesterday's rain estimate. look what happens today. you can see the computer modelling really bungling things up. it will get more than half an inch in the north bay. some locations will get close to two inches. while it won't be a whole bunch of rain it will be a quarter of an inch. we're in this desperate drought. we could use every bit of rain we could get. we'll keep tabs as we head through the upcoming week. you'll see the first chance of rain. i don't think everyone will see that one. friday into saturday of this upcoming week is when we'll see a better chance of shower activity. it looks pretty good. >> i read somewhere if we had rain every single day from now till the end of the year we still wouldn't have enough rain to cover the drought situation. >> you don't want that. you talk about flash flooding. wooem take a bit at a time.
