forecast, because is there rain on the way. let's bring in meteorologist cristina loren. hopefully they have black and orange umbrellas. >> hopefully not for halloween, doggone it. a good looking day for today. i've got to say, showers moving into the bay area, very, very unimpressive. we might get drizzle in the south bay if we get any showers. we're expecting that right at the immediate coast, up in the north bay. the farther to the north you live in the bay area, the better your chance for seeing any sort of raindrops. i do think we'll see a steady drizzle, at least. in the south bay, we bring that in for the second half of the day. look at your temperatures staying nice and comfortable. we hit that sweet stride in the temperature department. and we do have some changes to tell you about as we get into your weekend before we get a heavier round of rain for next week. lots to go over. i'll send it back to you, sam, kris, and the top stories of the day. in case you missed it, we'll

here. congrats to the giants, feeling very good. we own the pennant. just in case you were wondering. bob , everybody is riding the euphoria this morning. >> reporter: yeah, ishikawa's walkoff three-run homer was incredible last night. i wish i could have been here at at&t park, but to see it at home, nonetheless, sending the giants to their third world series in five years. i was reading that the last time that the giants actually went to the world series on a walkoff homer, that was back in 1951. so 63 years ago. players celebrated afterwards with their ski goggles and a whole lot of bubbly in the locker room. elsewhere in san francisco, that sent workers at graphic sports into overdrive. they're the company behind those we own the pennant t-shirts you may have seen the players

wearing. the manager told us he had to call in 40 workers who spent all night running the machines so they could have 25,000 t-shirts ready by 6:00 this morning. so they got just about an hour and a half to go. here is a portion of our interview with the company from last night. >> we got a head start this morning. so we were confident. being up 3-1. so we did print several thousand shirts this morning. as soon as the home run hit, the machines fired up again. >> reporter: the team will rest today before resuming training tomorrow. they're off to kansas city tuesday and wednesday for the start of the seven-game world series and then back here next friday and saturday. sunday if need be. i was checking for tickets. if you go on the giants' website, of course, their tickets are sold out. not clear if they have any they'll be releasing later today at the box office, we don't know. but at stub hub, tickets are starting around just north of $500. and those are tickets on the bay bridge, with a pair of buy by

knock lars. but no, standing room only. >> and those by biknocklars are branded. giants headed to the third world series in five years, thanks to timely hitting. bottom of the eighth, michael morse comes off the bench to make that pinch hit. good enough to send that solo shot over the wall to tie the game. >> bottom of the ninth inning now, two runners on and one out. travis ishikawa ends the game, three-run walkoff shot to send the giants to the world series. after the game, ishikawa was understandably emotional. >> you can't describe it. it's a dream come true. with what i've been through last few years, not knowing if i was going to be in the big leagues or continue playing at the end of the season. to be in this moment right now, it's special.

of. >> here's his back story, in case you don't know. ishikawa started the season with the pirates, but then he was cut. he was thinking about quitting baseball all together when the giants agreed to sign him to a minor league deal. he was playing aaa when he was called up before the end of the season, and now look at him, he is headed to the second world series with the giants. >> he is the hero, no doubt, of last night. we have more on the giants winning the pennant this morning on "today in the bay." head to our website, nbcbayarea.com. there you can find a photo gallery and raw video of fans celebrating in the streets of san francisco, all of this on our website, nbcbayarea.com. back to some other news now. interstate 880 in fremont is fully open this morning, but last night was a different story. right now police are still looking for the person who caused a complete shutdown for two hours last night. police say the suspect is armed and dangerous, and connected to a violent crime that happened in fremont recently. the chp shut down 880 in both

directions near the mowry avenue exit. traffic came to a complete stand still, a complete traffic nightmare. officers in unmarked vehicles with tactical gear scoured the area for the suspect. 880 finally opened around 10:00 last night, but police did not find the person they were looking for. they do not believe the suspect is still in the area. it is now 25 years later, today marking the 25-year anniversary since the loma prieta earthquake. many people in the area will remember that devastating day. at 5:04:00 p.m., the earthquake shook the san francisco bay area and monterey bay. the devastating quake lasted just seconds but caused lasting damage. both the bay bridge and cyprus freeway collapsed and 63 people lost their lives on that day. it also caused billions of dollars in damage. we spoke with one couple who lost their home in the santa cruz mountains after the quake. this is video of the initial interview done by this news

station in 1989. this week we checked back in with them. the couple's home was ripped from its foundation, shoved eight feet down the slope. it took three-and-a-half years to rebuild. >> we have a house we really love now. and we'll probably stay here forever. it's a sad story with a happy ending, if that makes sense. >> it does. the house looking completely different from the outside. the only thing remaining is parts of the wood and frame. and a fireplace inside is the exact same design. we do have also complete coverage of the 25th anniversary of the loma prieta earthquake on our website, as well, nbcbayarea.com. you can find hundreds of pictures, as well as videos from the day the disaster struck. to the south bay now, deadline day for pot clubs all over the city of san jose. the clubs have until today to file a permit with the city to reopen. so far, six clubs have been approved in that first phase of the process. 16 have had their permits denied.

about a half dozen other clubs are still under review. san jose at one point had as many as 100 clubs in operation when the city put in new restrictions in july. the first phase of permitting closes clubs not in compliance with city restrictions such as being far enough away from schools and residential neighborhoods. 4:39 now on your friday. good news for north bay commuters. there will be no golden gate bus track today. there is now a tentative agreement in place. that deal must be approved by union members, presented to the board golden gate bridge district next friday. rain is on the way, and cristina, not the only reason you're busy, my friend. traffic, too. >> that's right. and it's a payday friday, so it's okay with me. of 54 degrees on the peninsula. 55 on the east shore. san francisco, that 58 degrees in the north bay. a chilly start for you, 49 degrees. i had to turn my heater on this morning. i don't know if you have had to yet. but as our days are getting shorter, our nights are getting

colder and definitely starting to feel the impacts of those shorter days. 72 degrees for the north bay. 75 later in the south bay. with a little bit of rain on the way. you want to have your umbrella handy, because we kind of keep this pattern going as we head throughout the next seven days. the jet stream stays right over the bay area. that means the storm window is open. we just need storms to ride on that jet stream and actually make their way into the bay area. so for this next one, it looks like it's going to fall apart. let me show what we're forecasting. the clock on your futurecast at lunch time, expecting rainfall at that point north of the golden gate bridge. and then watch what happens. storm starts to organize, gets its act together, but a lot of this moisture is actually going to stay off shore, unfortunately. hoping for some of this yellow and red to move right over the north bay, and san francisco. but i think a lot of this is going to start to fall apart before we feel the impacts here in the south bay. keep that umbrella handy, just in case. a better chance for rain as we head into next week. we'll talk about that coming up. right now your drive is looking good. i've got to tell you, we have no

after another walkoff win, second in a row. this one courtesy of travis ishikawa's three-run walkoff homer. giants headed back to the world series. a live look at at&t park this morning. the grounds crews will have to get to work and stat, repainting the field with the world series logo now. the first series in san francisco, it will be game three, exactly a week from today. kris? we continue to follow developing news. u.s. officials are scramble to go get a texas health care worker now on board a caribbean cruise ship off. the worker handled lab specimens from thomas duncan, the man who died from ebola in texas presbyterian hospital. the woman has quarantined herself along with her travel partner and the state department is working on getting her home. so far, she has no signs of the virus. meanwhile, the texas nurse who contracted ebola is now in maryland for treatment. nina pham was flown to the national institutes of health

late last night. she was wearing a white protective suit, but did walk on board that flight, alone. the second nurse who contracted ebola, amber vinson, is being cared for at emory university hospital in atlanta. last night her family released a statement thanking supporters. vinson is reportedly stable and doctors are working on a treatment process for her. there are no known ebola patients in california, but first responders are getting ready just in case. san francisco department of emergency management issued a new protocol. 911 dispatchers will now ask callers a series of questions, such as, "have you been out of the country in the last 21 days." if the caller has symptoms related to ebola, first responders now know to show up with protective equipment. meanwhile, stanford medical center is sharing this health care video of professionals practicing putting on and taking off their protective gear. that includes full-body, full skin covering, helmet and

communications system. and we do have complete up to the minute coverage of the ebola scare on our website, nbcbayarea.com. just type in the search, ebola. even though one of the nurses with ebola traveled days before being quarantined, most travelers appear not to be too concerned about getting back on a plane. jack deangelis is live at cnbc's world headquarters with details. good morning, jackie. >> good morning to you. that's right. it's business as usual for business travelers. a survey by the global business travel association finds that nearly 80% of corporate managers say the ebola outbreak has little or no impact on plans to fly overseas. about 90% say it won't stop them from flying domestically, but more than half managers who do book flights to west africa say they are restricting workers from traveling to that part of the world. meantime, futures are high ahead of the open after another wild day on wall street yesterday. stocks dropped sharply at the

open on thursday before staging a comeback. traders pointing to the federal reserve official who could keep buying reserves to keep interest low due to the market turmoil. the fed had been set to he said that program this month. meantime, data today on housing and consumer. look for that, and earnings from ge and morgan stanley and janet yellen speaking before the opening bell. the dow which had been down 200 points closed off at 16,117. the nasdaq rising 2 points to settle at 42.17. let's hope for a little bit more of a calm day today, folks. >> a lot of people hoping for that, thank you very much, jackie. new trouble for hawaii this morning where tropical storm anna is moving into the same area hard hit by iselle. yesterday there was a state of emergency and volunteers warned people of dangerous surf and storm surges. anna is expected to hit the big

island tonight into tomorrow morning. definitely something to be keeping an eye on. in the meantime, we know we have rainfall headed our way. for more, let's check in with meteorologist cristina loren. >> good morning, sam, kris. happy friday. we made it to the end of the week. the giants made it to the world series. we've got a lot to celebrate this morning. today's weather looking good. 58 degrees to start in san francisco. chilly in the north bay where we have fallen into the 40s this morning. our afternoon highs are going to be on the cool side. only ramping up those numbers into the 70s. so a good day to have a sweater handy. a light jacket. something you can peel off a little later. we'll see a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day today. so i set this radar in motion for you. and you can see the general nation -- nation? the general nature of these storms as they approach the nation. that's what i was trying to say there. as you can see right now. they're kind of falling apart right at our latitude here in the bay area. that's going to continue to be the trend, it looks like, as this front moves to the north. all the activity will go along with it.

so we're not going to see a lot of action here in the south bay. i want to show you futurecast, because this tells the story. we stopped that clock at 8:00 a.m., front starts to move into the north bay. but look at that, it falls apart before getting into san francisco, even. we get a better chance for rain as we head throughout the second half of your day. and the bulk of the moisture starts to come through. but i think the same exact thing is going to happen. this sing thing is going to lift north and not a lot of rainfall in the south bay, but generous totals in sonoma county. that's good. we need the rain. we'll take whatever we can get. if you wanted to get out to the half moon bay pumpkin festival, that's always a good time. it's actually kind of a traffic headache, but once you get out there, if you can get out there early enough, really fantastic conditions this year. a little bit soupy for the first part of the day on saturday as that storm system pulls out. but you'll hit 64 degrees and abundant sunshine to finish off the day. let's get into it, because we had more rain as we head throughout monday. this system is looking good, could hit a sub tropical moisture tap.

when we meet back monday morning, likely tracking showers. tuesday into wednesday, really no change temperature wise as that jet stream stays right on top of us. we just need the storm system to develop and ride on that jet as a conveyor belt right into the bay area. that's what we're waiting on and watching for. back to you, sam and kris. >> thank you, cristina. happening right now, final arguments in the sentencing phase of the oscar pistorius trial. the former olympic sprinter was acquitted of murder but found guilty of negligent killing. the judge is expected to issue a sentence early next week. he could receive a fine and walk free or sent to prison for 15 years. we'll be watching that. the faa will ask lawmakers for more money this morning after that fire in illinois air traffic control facility that crippled air travel. the agency wants to upgrade equipment so it can guide planes by satellite rather than radar. it also wants to use runways better. the september 26th fire forced airlines to cancel thousands of flights across the country.

you'll remember those images of people camping at chicago area airports. it also had that ripple out effect and affected travelers here in the bay area as well. a very special punishment for former facebook president sean paymar after an environmentally unfriendly wedding in big sur. >> he was fined $2.5 million after he failed to obtain permits for his $10 million wedding in june of last year. that wedding included props that encroached on a redwood forest. the fine also forced him to create a beach mapping app for the beach use, helping beachgoers know how to get around public property to get to the public coastline. >> part of me says he probably built that into the cost of the wedding. you're having a $10 million wedding. >> i don't doubt that. he might have anticipated it. 4:52 now. >> it is exactly 4:52. i'm listening. >> you are. >> the giants may be headed to
