from nbc area, this is "today in the bay." >> good morning. it's tuesday morning. i'm sam brock. >> and i'm laura garcia-cannon. breaking news, water is off on 22nd and vermont and at least one building nearby has no water. "today in the bay" live at the scene has the very latest for us. good morning, steph. >> reporter: good morning. another water crew just showed up here where you can see the block here on 22nd between san bruno and vermont is closed.

you can see the mud left behind. the water stopped gushing maybe 45 minutes ago. the source is at the top of the hill here where you see all the attention being focused. earlier can you see a break of a 12-inch water line. i spoke with a facilities guy here at s.f. general hospital. he said there are three water mains in the area and usually two lines can take over for the one that's been impacted, but because there are such old systems in place, we have two buildings here at s.f. general that are being impacted that we're told has no water and this is going to impact patients this morning and all throughout the day. i want to come back live if we can. here at the scene to the right of the screen, there are two buildings, buildings 3 and 100. 3 is a lab research building, no water. and building 100 is an admin

building and an outpatient dialysis building, serving dozens of people throughout the day. this means there will be dozens of people who will have to be moved elsewhere. there is that concern. also this will likely have to be complete repaved. there are parts that are buckling already because of the loose pavement and concrete here. live from san francisco, stephanie chuang. >> sounds good. a lot of work to be done. >> we'll get a quick check of your forecast from meteorologist rob mayeda, who is in for christina loren this morning. >> we'll see temperatures today close to 70 in san jose, low 70s

>> a woman accused of attacking a 4-year-old girl at a south bay walmart is scheduled to be in court this morning. it happened back in may. prosecutors say she targeted the girl and her father because they were asian. she's charged with attempted murder, which could result in a life sentence. >> concern over ebola will take place in contra costa today. counties across the bay area are taking similar action. schools in the south bay stepping up their efforts, checking the temperature for every student who goes into the nurse's office. students must be fever-free for

dropping out of the north bay looks like for now game three will be fine but the rain does move through friday night into saturday. here's mike. >> we're looking at a smooth tuesday so far. we're looking at a live shot of dublin. it is eastbound with a very light falling traffic. two of your four lanes, blocked by overnight night work. and a smoother drive for most of the rest of the bay. you look at this map and you're pretty much at the speed limit for all of your routes. we'll take a live look at san jose. this is the volume of traffic, the most we'll see. we have a few folks waiting for the cash lanes off to the left, approaching the area. bottom of the screen looks like they don't have all the cash lanes open. >> they will.

little chillier than that, 40s and 50s outside but no worries about rain drops, at least for your morning commute this morning. just a few patches of low clouds. yes, the radar looks dry but very interesting. the view out across the gulf of alaska, very energetic pattern, pushing long swell waves our way, so we have a high surf advisory or beach hazard statement due to the surf, plus rip currents out on the coast tonight and eventually all those clouds will bring us a little more rain later this week. we should see mid 60s around san francisco and most locations around the bay area ranging in the 60s and 70s. thursday we'll see a system come close enough to toss a few showers to the north and friday evening for the north bay and friday night, that's when the next opportunity of rain will sweep through the bay area.

a little bit of light rain possible early in the day friday but most of the action will stay in the north bay as we get into the first half of friday evening and then everyone gets into showers for saturday. temperatures climbing as we go through thursday, best chance of rain for san jose will come in on saturday. in santa rosa, a chance of showers for thursday and more chances for rain for friday night and saturday and storms clearing then. sam? >> protesters are occupying the streets of hong kong. angry communist leaders plan to screen the candidates. we apologize we're having trouble with our video there. today's meetings will not include hong kong's leaders. both sides are so far apart right now in their demands.
