the bay area news group, investigators say officer sean harrington and his partner pulled over a woman. she had failed a sobriety test and was taken into custody. she had her cell phone when she was taken to jail. reportedly pictures were they say the surp -- an armed man

ordered the employees to the ground. when the employee took the watches out of the case, the man showed up, pulled a gun, ordered everyone down and then the woman pulled a gun, too. >> it was a very brazen act, time of day, middle of the mall and then for both suspects to have handguns, it's very daring on th rns.

welcome back. we are tracking showers this morning, especially across the north bay. that's where we're going to see a better chance of rain today and including san francisco. elsewhere expect a good mix of

today for the north bay. the fog and the clouts will linger through the day tomorrow. that does mean the world ear this is going to come in from about 7:00 in the morning until about 10:00 and eventually we clear out for the afternoon. it does look like saturday on and off we'll see weather activity, maybe a quarter inch to a half an inch across the bay area. >>s a i mentioned, four separate

systems. one comes in today, the second for saturday, the third for tuesday and wednesday and the fourth rights a we head toward halloween. overall a very rainy pattern and we are very happy about that. let's check that drive now. >> we just have to deal with some sluggish spots like the bay bridge toll plaza, which is not unexpected here. nothing really uncharacteristic at the map. we'll look at the amazing approach. the berkeley curve slow, the same for 580, a little build there and slower toward the maze itself. the slowdown for 580 westbound coming out of altamont. sounds like a cruise still on her shoulder. that all increase is going to

parliament he fired off 30 shots, wounding three people before he was shot and killed by a guard. officials called him an isis-inspired terrorist. >> and the attack has officials in washington on high alert. tracie, another person was able to get over the fence at the white house. >> but a different outcome, the dogs attacked him immediately. the man is identifieds a being from suburban baltimore, not too far from here. he has dog bites to his arm, his back, his chest and knee and is apparently facing a couple of federal charges, felony assault on a police officer, specifically a canine for fighting back. you can see him at one point punching the dog. the officials say the secret service in this case responded

very quickly and it came on a day when washington was already on heightened alert because of what happened in canada. the president talked to prime minister harper saying we need to be vigilant and keep a close eye on the border. >> of course the "today" show is in ottawa this morning where officials have announced they think the suspected in yesterday's attacks acted alone. >> going back to the bay now and taking a look at your forecast at 6:32 on this thursday morning, a live look at downtown san jose. we know the rain has been coming in here a couple of weeks but we haven't seen that huge downfall just yet. >> this upcoming system for saturday does look to be impressive. now that it's just two days out

and computer models are still calling for rain and heavy wind, this could stick as we head toward saturday morning and afternoon. this is the first system moving through. all in all we weren't calling for a huge rainfall event for this one. most of the activity will stay to the north. it's very light activity. you can see santa rosa sarting to see some of that activity. this will not make its way too far south then the showers will fizzle out. if you travel in the city today, make sure you have that rain gear handy. now to the south bay we're cloudy right now. in the peninsula, the same story. the fog is not that thick in san francisco. and we're still pretty much dry,

san francisco 70 degrees expected there, and in the south bay that's where you'll see most sunshine, 76 degrees expected there. light showers are expected through most of the day and 3:00, 4:00, shower activities will wind down. for saturday this is the system i was telling you about that's going to move through. it's going to come through very quickly, the first round of it. then the afternoon and evening hours, another system will come through. the good news is we're talking about maybe a quarter of an inch, maybe a half an inch and even an inch at the coastline for places like san francisco and for the south bay, may

maybe 1/10 of an inch. for halloween there could be some showers. you want to make sure you have a plan b in place for next friday. overall we'll continue to track all of these systems going through the bay area. we'll send it back to you guys. >> plan b would be to stay inside and eat all the candy and that would be exciting for some at the inouye house. >> off to your right shoulder, you see a little slowing approaching the scene. the fast track lanes are still moving. even just a tad bit of slowing will cause more backup. and look at 580 off of 24 and even approaching that

interchange, we have orange now showing up. a bigger build coming out of the maze, making its way over toward the toll plaza. looking over here toward the tri-valley. greenville to west 580. the dublin exchange really starting to build. the bay bridge and san mateo bridge getting smoother. no big drama but there's a look at your maps. we'll get a live look. a lot of roadways come together.

rain on the map right now. san rafael and points northward is where we'll see the rain today. in the south bay, you'll see the first glimpse of our sunrise come up with a few clouds in the sky. san francisco cloudy right now. expect a mix of sun and clouds on the east shore down towards the south bay but in san francisco the north bay expects some shower activity with a good amount of cloud coverage. cloudy skies to start the day. your weather headlines are very simple, rain, rain, rain, over the next week or so. it's not going to be a consistent rain but the north bay will see those showers. tomorrow no rain notice forecast but up against the coastlines are san francisco can see that fog and drizzle, pushing right up against at&t park. that means we could see drizzle

for tomorrow. and heavier rain expected to move through on saturday. you can see saturday morning those showers come in right around 7:00, 8:00, 9:00, and this is going to be a bay area-wide event. then we'll get a little bit of a break and more showers move ins a we head toward the evening hours on saturday. this is a whole part of our rainy pattern developing. then as we head toward the middle part of our week, we'll see more rain. the royals and giants on friday. expect them to see cloudy skies and maybe a little bit of drizzle from time to time. but saturday, i think we'll actually see heavier rain and that could pose a threat for a rain delay or maybe even a cancelled game. this is something we'll have to watch close by because we're talking about a consistent rain coming down at at&t park on

saturday. this pattern stays into next week. yes, for halloween. look at this, this is some heavy rain. in fact, the computer model really in my opinion kind of overdoing this. but i do think we are going to see some shower activity, it could come through on friday and it would be pretty heavy. this is just about a week away so this could change. it could be thursday, could be saturday. we'll continue to monitor this very closely. in the meantime, let's tune in to mike right now and check that drive. >> that's why we have you guys to interpret the data because the computers, they're not smart but you guys are. me, i just look for the flashing lights, there you go. now, there's just a mild slowdown on the incline. the ripple effect, a mild slowdown combining, making it

remains in the commonwealth. today in just about ten minutes' time all members of parliament will have a ceremony in honor of this young man, young soldier, with a young family who gave up his own life standing ceremoniously in front of the memorial. the shooter was eventually taken down. they say he walked right past the doorway where the prime minister was holding a meeting with his caucus. had he gone into that doorway, this could have been a very. >> palo alto police are revealing new details this morning about a rbiry at a high-end jewelry store that saw multiple weapons drawn.

kris, the surveillance pictures could hopefully catch the perpetrators. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. police say the suspects had very good taste. police released a shot of the armed man who was the one that ordered employees down to the ground after a woman, his partner in crime, walked in and asked to see some watches insently enough. but when the employee took the surveillance film, for both to have handguns, it was very daring on their part and very confident. >> here's another look at the male suspect. they made off with about 25 high-end watches that could include brands that they sell

new but they also had estate pieces. the good news is no employees, no shoppers were hurt. palo alto police say they will have a picture of the woman suspect ready to release later today but she had a rather interesting getup on, a u.s. coastal service. >> 6:53 right now. at least three people say they've gotten sick from drinking tainted tap water. this in a neighborhood in san jose. it could be several days before people near piedmont road have healthy drinking water. several people have reported stomach problems consistent with e. coli contamination. crews have been replacing a water main pipe nearby. they say it's possible an animal got in and spread bacteria.
