>> we have rain in the bay. you will notice everywhere across the bay, if you haven't seen the rain, you are looking at it now. moving over towards napa right now. even towards san francisco. even santa cruz mountains and san jose. tri-valley looking at shower activity. here is your storm timeline. showers will continue to roll on. in they will be light to moderate in their nature as we head through the afternoon hours, we'll see a good mix of sun and clouds as the storm system starts to move over. the thing about the sunshine this afternoon, that will mean fuel for some thunderstorms. we'll see some thunderstorms return this evening just in time for the world series game, unfortunately. keep the jackets handy and umbrellas all day long. temperatures cool though today, below average, in the 60s in the city. 70s for inland valleys. a nice change. couldn't have come at a worst time. >> right.

keep in tuned with you if there is a rain delay or heaven forbid a cancellation. pe thought their lives on the line for the public daily. two sheriffs' deputies are dead, killed in the line of duty following a chaotic manhunt yesterday. both suspects, a man and woman, are behind bars. the crime spree started in motel 6 in sacramento yesterday morning. it's unclear why. deputies sheriff danny oliver approached the car. the gunman apparently unprovoked opened fire hitting oliver in the forehead. from there police say the 34-year-old marquez and a female accomplice went on a carjacking spree, shooting a man who refused to give up his car. the woman was arrested. marquez later turned his rifle on deputy sheriff michael davis also killing him. >> amazingly, michael's father,

michael david davis sr. was a riverside county deputy sheriff and killed in the line of duty october 24, 1988, exactly 26 years ago today. >> unbelievable. after the six-hour car chase and a long standoff, marquez was arrested at a home in auburn. records show he is in utah. a third deputy sheriff was also wounded by marquez and is recovering this morning. >> in washington state, more than 100 people gather to remember the victims of a high school shooting about 40 miles north of seattle. we have video of the most recent homecoming. that young man there is jalen fryeburg. he is the gunman who opened fire yesterday. he is also on the football team. the shooting happened during lunchtime. it was all over in four minutes. one female student was killed, four others seriously injured. police say fryberg turned the

gun on himself and students are in shock. >> he didn't seem troubled at all. he seemed like a great kid. >> i never thought it would happen at our school. >> police haven't released any motive in the attack, but classmates say he recently had gotten into an argument with another boy over a girl. a new twist in the chp canal involving new photos. the officer says it was all a game, stealing racy photos from women and sharing them with other officers. court documents show officer sean harrington told investigators of this game. the attorney for one of the victims, a 23-year-old san ramon woman says search warrants documents implicate more officers' involvement. the documents reveal several officers made vulgar comments to one another about photos they took from the phones of people they arrested. the attorney says the evidence show a pattern and practice of stealing confidential photos and unlawfully sharing them. the district attorney's office is investigating, but so far no one has been charged in the case.

a man accused of peeping through a bay area hotel window at two little girls is under arrest this morning. late thursday, police arrested this man jose garcia in palo alto. he looked through the window of a room at the oaks motel as a couple dressed their two young daughters. police say the girls' father confronted him and had the hotel call police. he faces a felony charges for violating probation. strict new quarantine rules are in effect in new york and new jersey now that another health care worker who just returned from west africa was placed in isolation over ebola concerns. emergency crews took the still unidentified health care worker to newark university hospital almost immediately when she landed yesterday. just this morning though, about an hour ago she tested negative for ebola, but her isolation is part of a state mandated 21-day quarantine for anyone who had contact with ebola patients in

west africa. these come one day after a doctor who recently returned from an ebola assignment in new guinea was diagnosed with ebola virus in new york. the 23-year-old dr. craig spencer finished his first day of treatment yesterday. new york and new jersey governors came together to announce the enhanced screening at airports in their states. judge, these actions we are taking today, i believe, are necessary to protect the public health of the people of new jersey and new york. >> the first person who contract the ebola virus in the u.s. was released from the national institutes of health, and she made a stop at the oval office and got a hug from president obama. that sends a message someone cured of ebola is not contagious. >> the way you get ebola is by direct contact with the body fluids of an ill individual. if you don't have that, you do not have to worry about ebola. i think that's important to point out that you must separate the issue of the risk to a

general public with the risk with brave people like nina and her colleagues. >> pham feels ft. neighed and blessed to be free from ebola and eager to get home to dallas. more details south bay's busiest hospital is showing off new arsenal to fight potential ebola outbreaks. we went on a tour of valley medical center's new ebola isolation unit. the staff is fully trained and equipped to tackle ebola. their gear includes protective suits for medical workers. >> i honestly feel safe. it's comfortable. i'm able to move around. >> the hospital now has four designated ebola rooms that includes an isolation bubble and that minimizes exposure from inspected patients who are being transported throughout the hospital. the push to charge a toll to people walking or biking across the golden gate bridge is moving

forward. we have a live look at the bridge on this rainy saturday morning. yesterday the golden gate bridge highway and transportation district was split down the middle keeping the controversial pedestrian toll plan on the table. it would charge a fee for people walking or biking across this iconic bridge. yesterday's decision means the bridge district has until the year 2017 to come up with a more specific plan on how and how much to charge. much more ahead on "today in the bay." a disappointing outcome for giants fans in game three of the world series last night at at&t park. despite the loss, one fan's act of kindness led to one of the most memorable games of his life. >> no ticket? no problem. we'll take you on the water as some fans rode in style through mccovey cove.

at&t park for tonight's world game series four, if the rain doesn't delay things. it was quite a party with world series baseball. more than 40,000 giants fans left at&t park disappointed. it was a close game, but ultimately the giants lost to the royals 3-2. despite the bitter ending, there was a celebration all around the bay area a lot of good will. among the 40,000 people inside at&t park, one very special mechanic. today in the bay we see his imageal world series experience. >> giants fans go silent while kansas city fans celebrate. >> i'm bummed out. >> disappointed fans left the stadium quiet. earlier cheered a new fan favorite. >> surreal. >> frank burke from oak dale was

talking with travis ishikawa before the game. burke took a friend battling cancer to the last game in st. louis and caught ishikawa's winning home run ball. the diehard giants fans gave it back to number 45. >> he thanked me again for getting him that ball back. you guys all know his history. he was almost out of the game. to do that, i would have done it for any of them, but to me it's like a cinderella story. >> as a thank you to burke, the giants handed him a ball. he threw out the first pitch at tonight's world sear why is game with ishikawa catching. he got a special jersey and four tickets. >> great job. >> the mechanic is now a celebrity. for burke, it's part of the magic of baseball. >> things don't mean as much as people and experiences. nobody's going to take this experience away from me. >> the world series experience is memorable, win or lose.

amazing event. >> reporter: we cruised by angel island, alcatraz and the skyline before we arrived. >> let's go giants! >> reporter: do you think they heard it? >> nope. >> yeah. >> reporter: we could hear them. more than 100 water craft in mccovey cove. to these fans, it didn't matter. close enough. you could almost smell the garlic fries. >> it's one of the most beautiful sights in the world. it's so fantastic to look at the park from the water and the sun setting behind it. that's what makes san francisco such a beautiful city. >> best seat in the water. >> reporter: as night fell the crowd roared. the team pulled within one of the royals. disappoint, but there is always game four. >> let's go, giants. >> reporter: and a view to make the ride home for these fans a little better.

ian cole, nbc bay area news. >> the man we need to listen to anthony slaut were a look at our weekend forecast. you say there could be surprise thunderstorms. >> the heaviest rain is moving through. we'll get a break as we head toward the afternoon hours. more are expected to develop. i want to start you off with some of those rainfall totals. santa cruz mountains, the big winner no big surprise there already over 0.50 inch of rain. overall, oakland picked up about 0.4 inch right now. napa less than that. santa rosa about 0.1, san francisco there, as well. the heaviest rain pushed through the north bay. santa rosa already starting to dry out. ev san francisco looking at shower activity. you see that one line making its way through the peninsula. eventually that will push through the south bay and east bay over towards the tri-valley.

the other thing we've been tracking is very intense winds. most of the winds have been gusty across 1,000 feet or higher. los gatos got up to 41 miles per hour. oakland hills 31 miles per hour. san francisco near twin peaks 30 miles per hour. san jose, not too gusty, but winds up to 24 miles per hour. later on this afternoon, it's not going to be overly hot. even when we do start to clear out, temperatures are only going to get back to the lower 70s in the south bay. everywhere else expect a good mix of mid to upper 60s today. it will be chilly across every single micro climate. we have those showers rolling in right now. that will make for slick roads over the next six hours. then we'll start to dry out. we'll start to see sunshine. that's going to mean some fuel. if you know anything about the severe weather, you get the sunshine and that adds to what we could see as we head toward the evening hours.

the more sun we get this afternoon, will mean more fuel we have for any thunderstorms that need to develop. by the evening hours, rain does return. it's not going to be heavy widespread rain like right now. more pop-up thunderstorm activity. again, that's the severe criteria we have to watch through the day. 11:00, you can see skies clear out from santa rosa to san francisco. even in the south bay expect to see some sunshine after that. look what happens to the radar after that. you can see all the pop-up thunderstorms. this is around gametime. you can't tell where they are going to pop-up. they could just pop-up anywhere and you can see the computer modeling starts to paint that on toward the evening hour. 8:30 the computer model puts one right over san francisco, at&t park. once the sun goes down, you can see how things clear out. this is going to be something we watch as we head towards the world series. here it is, your world series forecast. first pitch, mostly cloudy

there are so many teachers who have a great reputation of the students. it must be exceptional if they think she has a great reputation and have never met her. here is garvin thomas with today's "bay area proud." >> the history in san jose's high school comes not from its old building but the people who walked its halls. it's something they want their students to remember. just how they are choosing to do it in this bay area proud. it takes a special teacher to get this many teenagers out of bed and into a pool at this hour of the morning. even more special when you consider it is a math teacher that has these girls swimming lap after lap. a math teacher, by the way, none

of them ever had or likely even knew. that is because claire died of breast cancer almost a decade ago. yet even fall at san jose's presentation high school, the lanes are full of students and adults swimming to remember claire and raise money to fight breast cancer and fund a scholarship in her name. >> she was a quiet force here. for sure. >> amy did have claire as a teacher and later when a teacher herself, as a colleague. >> she was quiet, kind, the grandmother next door and made everybody feel good about themselves. >> as good a teacher as claire was though, it was her bravery while battling cancer most at presentation remember and admire. >> from claire i learned to have grace and dignity when you are battling an illness, and to just

keep trucking. >> it was marissa's idea to honor claire with a yearly swim-a-thon. she wanted to teach her students lessons about what true dedication is. marissa, like others, marvelled that even with just months to live, claire with the help of husband bob, showed up at school to administer the work scholarship program. >> i had never seen anybody handle a life/death experience with the kind of grace that she did. >> and that is a lesson at presentation they believe deserves to be taught over and over again. the swim to remember each year starts early in the morning, ending late at night. this year, 90 swimmers completed 14,500 laps in the presentation pool. that's over 220 miles of swimming. garvin thomas, nbc bay area

good saturday morning to you. just shy of 7:30 with a live look at clear skies over at&t park. we saw a little bit of rain there over mccovey cove this morning. we might see some later today. good morning. thank you for joining us ahead of world series game four. i'm kira klapper with anthony slaughter with a look at this micro climate forecast. so much going on. >> you were talking clear skies. >> don't get too excited. >> we still have clouds. it stopped raining, but is not clear completely. >> it cleared up from what we saw an hour ago. >> exactly. the storm timeline does show showers moving in. slick roads for the next few hours. by the afternoon, it will clear out. we'll see clouds still hanging overhead. that's going to mean for fuel for thunderstorms later on, especially for the world series game. watch that very closely. by this evening, showers are expected to return. you can see the radar now lit up in green. just a few light moderate showers making through.

physical and verbal abuse. the 9-year-old says her teacher got angry after she called another student a name at the community school in oakland two weeks ago. she says the teacher slammed her leg in a door and grabbed her wrist while pulling her into the office. she says the teacher also made some disturbing comments about the color of her skin. >> she said my skin color was the darkest. she says that i don't have beautiful skin and my skin color is not the best at all. >> if it's found that the teacher did commit these acts, we will take action, but she is entitled to a fair investigation before we jump to that conclusion. >> the oakland unified school district says it just learned of the allegations of physical abuse. school police interviewed the girl yesterday afternoon. >> san jose's effort to lure the oakland a's is going into extra innings. lew wolff and the city of san jose agreed on a deal to extend

knee goings over a new stadium for another seven years. san jose has land set aside for a ballpark near downtown. since the a's just signed a ten-year lease extension with oakland, the owners say they are keeping their options open. a's are still waiting for approval from major league baseball to move to san jose. the san francisco giants aren't budging. they actually control the territorial rights in south bay. at&t is taking a new hard line over the new apple ipad. lockdown or pay up. a key ipad component that apple sim card was designed to let users easily switch wireless carriers with just a tap in the settings. at&t has changed that. they locked down the sim card during activation. the only way you can switch carriers is with a new apple sim card and that costs about $10. much more ahead on "today in the bay." we'll hear from the giant locker room after a tough loss of game three of the world series.

7:38. taking a live look outside at mccovey cove at the beautiful at&t park. clouds in the sky. rain expected throughout the day today. first pitch at world series game four at 5:07. with game three of the world series now in the books, the giants find themselves in unfamiliar territory for the first time since the 2002 fall classic. the orange and black trail in the world series. tim hudson making his first world series start. top of the sixth. royals were up 1-0. alex gordon drives the ball to deep center. 2-0, kansas city. the two-out base hit to center. giants down three. san francisco would rally scoring two runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth.

down through belmont. that line will make its way to the east bay, tri-valley and south bay. not much in san francisco. we are starting to clear out. we'll see a good mix of sun and clouds through the day. here is the thing about the sunshine. the more sun we get, that's the more fuel for thunderstorm activity later this afternoon and evening. 5:00, 6:00, we are tracking more thunderstorms. we could be talking about heavy rain. lightning and thunder by this evening. the forecast does keep the rain in place. especially this morning. we'll clear out. temperatures climb back to the upper 60s down to the peninsula. more showers are expected to roll back in. here is the timeline. everybody expected to see some sunshine.

after we began asking questions, the county cut the savings in half using a more conservative formula. >> we stand behind 2.5 million pounds. i couldn't speak for bloom. >> reporter: dave snow is deputy director of facilities. he says the county expects to save $7 million over the next 20 years in energy costs. data so far show the boxes are performing as promised in their first four months online. >> it's about energy efficiency. >> reporter: critics say bloom has a pattern of overpromising and underdelivering. state regulators told us in an e-mail bloom's first generation boxes did not perform as well as anticipated. they had an emission rate between 893 and 995, much closer to what the traditional power grid puts out. >> i don't think it's green washing, but there is an onus on the company to explain the difference. >> uc berkeley climate and energy expert dan cameron is part of the team that literally wrote the book on climate

change. their work won a nobel peace prize in 2007. when you benefit this much from public money, should you answer to questions about how efficient your technology is? >> absolutely. if you are receiving public money or even private investor money, own up to what your bottom line is. >> reporter: if bloom is not achieving its advertised emission rate in the real world, the company should explain why. >> you really do have an obligation to be transparent. >> reporter: last year the federal trade commission sent this letter to senator feinstein after she asked the agency to investigate levine's claims bloom is green washing the public. the ftc wrote green washing, making false or unsubstantiated claims may constitute an unfair or deceptive act but tells us it can't comment on the complaint against bloom. >> everyone wants to just believe it's green, that it's great. and it's probably good
