plus, details on a man accused of sparking fires this is not the san francisco bay crews rushing to a rescue on the north bay. i am terry mcsweeney. >> i am peggy bunker. one man is dead in bodega bay. in the newsroom we have been following the four and we have more. >> reporter: a coast guard crew found the loan survivor. when a crew arrived they found

four people in the water. a helicopter responded and used a 100 foot line to rescue a man from the rocks. he was limping and was reported to be suffering from hypothermia. >> they pulled four unresponsive persons out of the water. they identified one person responsive on bodega rock. >> reporter: the boat was a 32 foot fishing vessel. today is the first day of crab season. the lone survivor said a big wave hit the side of the boat, throwing him off. they are now investigating the cause of the accident and say none of the passengers were wearing life jackets. there was a small craft advisory in the area where the craft

capsized. the water temperature was 59 degrees so much needed rain hitting the bay area today. this is southbound 101 in palo also. >> we are still seeing a few showers, minely south of san jose. we did see showers pick up in intensity at midafternoon. montry, big sur, one to would inches of rain. morgan hill, 16/100 of an inch of rain. it made for pretty skies as seen here. a few passing showers at times hitting the camera lens. what's left of the showers

understandably upset by what happened. other areas, well, the adjacent buildings are damaged, too. one woman who lives here tells me that an adjuster is coming out monday. she left with her bags to stay with family members. yesterday an explosion blew the roof off. two men in the most damaged unit were critically injured with burns. police say the explosion was the result of a marijuana hash oil extraction process. today neighbors have been cleaning up broken glass and trying to move forward >> we had two windows out and paintings came off the walls. >> the homeowners association

got a construction crew come by. they came by and went through our houses and checked to make sure everything was okay. >> reporter: i wanted to apologize for what someone who was standing here said earlier. to continue, a number of neighbors are heavenilping out. one suggested a community breakfast. the red cross was helping yesterday. they tell me they are still helping some who need shelter. >> a million-dollar worth of illegal marijuana is off the streets after neighbors tipped off gilroy police. inside a warehouse they found more than 500 marijuana plants. police said this was a sophisticated operation, lights and automatic watering

equipment. police say the operation has ties to south bay gang members. so far there have been no arrest a follow-up to a string of fires. prosecutors brought arson charges. he was released yesterday. his charges were transferred to the other suspect, andrew gutierrez. fires tore through several buildings in alameda last september. five homes were red tagged. the fires caused nearly $3 million in damage a bay area ice cream truck driver is facing dui charges. just as children were getting ready to trick-or-treat. the lot across the street from roseland elementary school.

deputies were tipped off. they identify him as a 57-year-old with dui and driving without a license. officers say a victim was shot in the torso and died at the hospital a short time later. the name not released hundreds of guns, rifles and other weapons are off the street thanks to a buyback program. people were able toll tu turn is with no questions asked. people who turned in their guns got about $200 in cash per weapon. the guns will be melted down new at 6:humans and dogs

this is part of the innovation saturday at the history museum. students explored engineering milestones. organizers hope that the mountain view venue will inspire these students. the goal is to come up with products or service that will help everyday life. >> the goal is to get them looking at it with fresh eyes and coming up with new ideas and helping them to find the target market, identify the customers and plan out an innovation. >> students will have a chance to submit their ideas to the world series of innovation. up next, one of the biggest gatherings of the olympic champions in the south bay.

standing up for those who can't do it themselves. that's why hundreds of people and their pets took to the streets around san francisco today. donations will help rescue, feed and care for farm animals that have been abused or neglected. >> reporter: these animals are just as smart, just as sweet and loving as the cats and dogs we have at home. >> some of the animals rescued will go to family room

sanctuaries, including two in california. a mudslide that took place in southern california last night trapped a moan and damage his home. emergency crews had to rescue this resident. his small dog was buried in the slide. ten other homes were evacuated. the evacuations have now been lifted. >> this my be the video of the day. it's what skiers have been hoping for. fresh snow. look at the new layer of snow along i-80. low level areas could see up to eight inches of snow. the ski resorts expect to open this month. >> that is so great too see.

saw heavy rain towards gilroy. most of the action has been off to our south and east. as the system continues to move across central california, still a chance east of san jose along the santa cruz mountains. we see isolated showers. the trend will be to dry us out for sunday. bringing you up to day on the rainfall total, we had a good amount for shows. in october dropping below average. as we move further north the numbers drop off. we did get rain for halloween. san francisco with a half inch of missing rainfall for october. that number drops off for the north bay, falling behind about an inch and a half. we certainly need to add to the

totals moving forward. the trend for the end of the weekend, clearing skies for sunday. we will see skies clear late tonight. in the morning clear skies. in the north bay some sunshine. a dry pattern is going to take the storm track and shove it to the north. instead of rainfall, temperatures rising. the pattern ahead looks warmer and drier. 68 degrees tomorrow. in san jose should be nice for the 49ers game. mid 60s around san francisco. north bay temperatures close to 70. notice the five-day trend. no raindrops but temperatures
