880 here at the bottom of your screen. i want to show you san jose. what a difference between friday and this morning. we are expecting the fog to get worse before it gets better. just as we saw on friday morning, it's going to be a rough drive to work. keep that in mind. overall the sun will come out and we have a beautiful finish to the day. >> just like friday. for me it was worse than friday but i drown east 880. you see our cameras on the top of the hotel. you see the lights going lft to rig -- left to right, right to left. i just drove through there. it's tough to see but there's a light enough traffic flow you're able to maintain a safe distance from the other cars. here where i've circled, that's mission boulevard. very tough to see. i didn't see the flashing lights. i knew about them but didn't see them, which is coned off and

there are flairs there. use auto mile parkway to cross between 680 and 880. that orange on the map is where it's really severe as far as the visibility. the orange is going to be where it's tough to see, especially through palo alto and 280 through the valley. back to you guys. >> the family of a missing software engineer hopes the people of san francisco will help them find their loved one. steve any -- stephanie?

>> reporter: as you can see, they focused flyers around the neighborhood yesterday trying to get information on where dan ha has been. he's a software engineer. he left work early, the day before halloween, saying he had a migraine. his family says friday night is also the last night he used his cell phone. his families very emotional as they describe the desperation of not knowing where their son has been. >> he's very disciplined. he always tell us he were going to go somewhere to do something. >> i miss him so much. please help us to find him. >> there is now a $500 reward

for any information. friend and family members are using facebook, social media, fund-raising sites, as well as a web site, find dan ha, to spread the word. they plan to have a fund-raiser and will place flyers again in this area where he was last seen. one of his brothers will teak live about an update on what the family plans to do to help find dan ha. >> in anybody has seen him, please call police. >> in gilroy, a plane crashed killed two people. this took off from frazier lake airport near hollister. the names of the victims have not been identified but santa

clara investigators say both passengers, a man and a woman, were killed yesterday. the pilots who used frazier lake airport are a tight-knit group. we spoke with one of them who says he knows who was flying that plane. >> i know. it's kind of hard, especially when you have a passenger and you have a spent. >> here's an image of the kind of plane that crashed, a 1950 cessna 140-a. the faa says the plane was flying to watsonville. >> still many unanswered questions after a mysterious death inside a cal fraternity house. the house reportedly held a big party the night before. investigators are not ruling out drugs or alcohol. but right now police are calling it suspicious. they also say the man didn't

live at the house or even attend cal. >> a man accused in a recent hit-and-run crash that killed a south bay college student is expected back in court this morning. lam, a computer engineering student at san jose state. investigator say the man drove off in his car after hitting him. >> a stabbing happened yesterday at about 2:30 in the afternoon. police have beenin automobile to give more information because compute verse been shut down for a maintenance check. >> the san francisco chronicle reporting the manual shutoff

switch on the hydraulic door in the gorilla enclosure wasn't pressed in time to save the gorilla. the 16-month-old baby gorilla was crushed when she darted underneath the doors. >> oshs, i remember seeing it. it was precious. >> two men accused of stealing from several apple stores on the peninsula. they say the four are suspected of robbing several stores. >> livermore may soon be fitted for a new crime fitting tool. the city is considering laying out 3d 00 to quip the police force with body cameras.

>> to decision 2014. we don't know still who the san jose mayor will be. the county registrar still has 1,400 provisional ballots to count. >> raiders owner mark davis said friday's sitdown with san antonio officials, quote, went well, as the city showed him what they had to offer a franchise. former raiders president amy trask said over the weekend she doesn't believe san antonio is really a viable option.

>> workers don't know what caused several emergency sirens to go off over the weekend. it happened in several areas of the bay city. the sirens had to be temporarily shut off but now they're back on. officials want it remind people the alarms will sound again at noon for their regular weekly testing. >> it is 4:39 on your monday. we were fooled temporarily that we were still in beach with it, it felt like it over the weekend but conditions may change. >> not today, though. we're going to have one more beautiful day once we get through this thick fog. we have rain in the forecast, which means can you have a clear conscience about all the dry waert we've had lately. we do have some thick fog. i want to make sure you're aware of this.

you're down to a half of mile of visibility in santa rosa. it is really thick out there this morning. it's kind of drifting around. that's the nature of fog. it does not stay static. as we head throughout the next couple days, temperatures are going to drop like a rock! this is our last warm day. we bring on that rain as we head through late tuesdays are wednesday and thursday. 86 in the north day, the peninsula will be 75 and 72 on the east shore but this is it, we drop the temperatures as of tomorrow. first i want to check your drive. pretty bad out there. pea soup in spots. >> over here on the hayward side, you can't see because it's

cut off visibility there. across the span itself, that's where there's the issue on the brej. look at the map. we're talking about a little bit slower drive westbound. that was a little bit of tapping the brakes but not a big concern as folks are traveling over to the peninsula. on the peninsula, all this orange we talked about many times before, that's the weather dated integrated to our traffic system. 280 right around almonte, an accident. visibility could have been a factor. oakland, the visibility there is much better. we'll show you the traffic flowing very nicely there northbound towards high street. send it back to you guys. >> a little hit and miss this

the dow, nasdaq and s&p 500 turning in three straight winning weeks. there's no economic data today but we get reports later this week on retail sales and consumer sentiment. the dow rising 19 points on friday to close 17,573. the nasdaq slipping 6 points to close at 4,632. american airlines flight attendants have rejected the new five-year contract by just 16 votes. the move forces the world's largest carrier and the union into binding arbitration. the contract affects roughly 24,000 workers. the rejection also complicates the merger started last year. >> the midwest is gearing up for the first storm of the season.

crews have been preparing equipment and spreading salt. as much of a foot of snow expected to hit minnesota this morning. and behind the snow, an arctic blast. >> remind me again, what is this snow that you speak of? >> powdery content. >> i have the privilege of showing you this morning when your ski resorts are going to be opening up. we're going to see maybe 8 inches to a foot of fresh snow in tahoe as we get into wednesday, thursday. look at what we have this morning, really thick fog, dangerous conditions out there for commuters. give yourself plenty of time. where we were clear, fremont, 880, looking pretty foggy there.

san jose showing you the same reduced visibility. as you make your way out the door, wherever you're headed, you'll likely encounter the thick fog. tomorrow is veteran's day. we're seeing a little lighter volume because of that. we'll talk to mike about the specifics in a moment. right now travel cautiously. even with the lighter volume, it going to be a rough ride. san carlos, you have zero credibility. that is incredibly dangerous. try to eliminate distractions from your vehicle. probably not a great day to have that radio blasting. we are on our way to warmer finish. temperatures climbing 5 to 10 degrees from where we were yesterday. and at the end of the week, we're headed back into the 60s.

then we bring on the rain as we get into the latter portion of the week. want to give you a little update as to the timing of the heavy stuff. it looks like thursday morning when we meet back here. right now back to you, sam and laura. >> a challenging start for drivers this morning. two american men held captive in north korea are back here this morning. 25-year-old matthew miller is reportedly resting at home. north korean media reported that miller tore up his visa and then demanded asylum. he was sentenced to sex years in prison but unexpectedly released on saturday. he was released alongside ken earth bae. he spent two years in a north korean prison. his sister says he's in surprisingly good condition and that he bears no ill wil toward

north korea. >> the air bag recall is expanding again, this time to include several nissan models. the air bags can explode sending shrapnel into the driver and passenger seats. the recall includes several infinity models from 2003 and 20 2006. the recalls are among 8 million others made by car companies mostly in high humidity states. >> the journal reports it's typical for car makers to check on the availability of parts before a recall but says the

e-mails will likely be used by lawyers in thousands of class action lawsuits against gm. the faulty ignition switches are now linked to 30 deaths. >> a teen-ager and his neighbor are being called heros this morning. their actions may have well saved the life of a police officer. >> this is incredible video. cell phone video showing the officers car ungulfed in flames. a hit-and-run driver t-boned the officer's car. 17-year-old volunteer firefighter joe chambers heard the crash and he and a neighbor sprang into action. they pulled the officers from his car seconds before the car burst into flames. >> the car caught fire. he said he couldn't feel his legs.
