i'm sam brock. >> and i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> officials are banning asiana from flying into sfo. steph, the ban is considered a form of punishment? >> reporter: that's right. we're talking about a 45-day ban. it could happen sometime in the first half of next year. that's still up in the air. but asiana does have one daily flight here to san francisco. this temporary route ban for asiana airlines could cost the airline $13 million to $14 million. this is of course in response to that july 2013 crash here at

sfo. sana called the decision too harsh saying they ignored the national transportation safety board findings concluding it was pilot error causing the plan to crash into the sea wall, not a safety violation by the crew, adding it would hurt passengers. asiana says they sell about 1 170 -- 170,000 ticket as year. they will ask other airliners to increase flights so it does not impact passengers. coming up yrks this is just one step taken as a larger picture by the south korean government

one mile and three quarters in gilroy. this is definitely an inland valley event. 52 degrees in the south bay, 52 on the peninsula. the morning temperatures will stay steady because of that blanket of cloud overhead. it will burn off by lunchtime. but, yeah, weir got a lot of rain potentially on the way. and potentially a third one for the following weekend, which means if you want to get outdoors, if you've been craving some chowder in san francisco, this is your weekend to do so because next weekend overall is looking very active.
