breaking news this morning on "early today," death and destruction in jerusalem. two terrorists attack worshipers in a synagogue this morning and hamas is congratulating those responsible. missouri's governor declares a state of emergency ahead of a grand jury decision in the michael brown shooting. the naacp is furious. today, more than 200 million americans in all 50 states will suffer through temperatures at or below freezing. charles manson prepares to wed a 26-year-old woman. also, $66 million for botox. and a roller coaster to rival them all. it is tuesday, november 18th. good morning. you are looking at an absolutely beautiful sunrise over washington, d.c. this morning. calm here in the states right now. but crazy overseas. good morning, i'm milissa rehberger. new video, a terror attack in the middle east, the video shot outside a synagogue in jerusalem. israeli police in a shootout with attackers after 26 seconds the terrorists were shot dead. their rampage started during morning prayer. their weapons were guns and axes. ten people were inside praying at the time. four of those people were killed. six others were hurt. >> we came down from the top of the street and we saw -- we heard from the sirens the ambulance, police coming. we heard there was a terrorist came in here and it is a knife. to stab people. >> hamas praised this attack but is not claiming responsibility. palestinian president mahmoud abbas condemned it.

prime minister benjamin netanyahu says, quote, israel will respond with a heavy hand. a preemptive state of emergency is adding fuel to a tense situation in missouri. during a teleconference with reporters last night, governor jay nixon activated the missouri national guard and explained the unprecedented move. >> my hope and expectation is that peace will prevail, but we have a responsibility. i have a responsibility to plan for any contingencies that might arise. i hope there's no violence. the effort is to maintain peace and i'm hopeful that will occur. >> in a statement, the naacp's president says the decision is presumptuous to the hundreds of peaceful demonstrators who have embraced their constitutional right to protest. the fbi is also on high alert. nbc news confirmed the agency sent out an advisory to police last week. it warned of extremist

demonstrators who might exploit the grand jury announcement in an atempt to attack law enforcement. nbc's ron allen has the latest. >> reporter: a passionate group of demonstrators disrupted streets near the courthouse where a grand jury is deciding whether to indict officer darren wilson in the death of michael brown. how do you resolve this peacefully? >> indict the cop. >> reporter: a state of emergency, warning of possible expanded unrest and activated the national guard. hundreds of troops were called in last august, when violence erupted after brown's death. police say all the protests have not been peaceful. >> it has been very hazardous. >> reporter: tension building as police records obtained by the st. louis post dispatch show new video of officer wilson hours after the fatal encounter at a police station. and police radio calls from that day, tracking a robbery suspect. >> 25, it's gonna be a black

male in a white t-shirt. he's running toward quick trip. >> reporter: officer wilson asked if he's needed. >> 21 to 25 or 2, you guys need me. >> reporter: later, wilson reports his location, the street where he shot and killed brown. >> 21, put me on canfield with two, and send me another car were the newspaper says its analysis shows brown was dead 90 seconds later. >> get us several more units over here. there's gonna be a problem. >> we're in this together, st. louis. >> reporter: now appeals for calm on the air from the local nfl team. and in high schools, from police captain ron johnson, a ferguson native, widely credited with helping keep the peace. >> what you saw on the street, did that surprise you? that rage, that anger? that part of it, did that surprise you? >> the magnitude of it did. some of the people i saw as moms and dads and business people and educators. >> reporter: some still on the streets now, with a decision from the grand jury expected any day.

>> that was nbc's ron allen. tomorrow governor nixon will announce and swear in the new members of the newly created ferguson commission. there is new concern over the levels of arsenic found in rice and rice products like baby cereal and gluten free foods. a new study to be released later today recommends that you not eat rice more than twice a week. scientists looked at the arsenic levels from rice around the country. california rice seems to have the smallest amount of arsenic compared to rice from other parts of the country. the average american eats 25 pounds of rice per year. that's twice as much rice as americans ate ten years ago. capitol hill is prying for a major showdown this morning. it has to do with the keystone xl pipeline that will shoot oil 1100 miles through the middle of the west. while there are environmental concerns, a proposed bill was approved in the republican led house last week. things aren't as certain today in the senate. the vote is expected to be razor thin, somewhere on either side

of the 60 votes needed. if passed that sets up the next huge question, which is will the president veto it. comedian bill cosby continues to make headlines over the decades old sexual assault allegations against him. cosby has been accused of sexual assault by several women. meanwhile, a new victim has come forward. she spoke to nbc news on monday. joan tarsis said she was assaulted twice by cosby in 1969 when she was 19 years old. >> i said i'm -- this is my time, i can't let this go any longer. i wanted to join the throngs of people who have talked about this already. >> cosby denied the allegations in past and has never been charged with a crime. he has not addressed the current allegations and according to his lawyer he doesn't plan to. check out this megamerger just ironing out the wrinkles.

botox is being bought. that's a huge face-lift for activist, because if approved, it will become a top ten pharmaceutical company. while botox is used for therapeutic purposes, plenty of people use it to enhance their looks. there were 6.3 million botox procedures performed for cosmetic reasons last year. one of the most infamous serial killers in modern history may be getting married. charles manson, now 80 years old, has receive ed a wife 50 years younger than he is. she's 26. she spent almost a decade trying to exonerate manson. reports say the two are likely to finalize everything next month but it is worth noting here prisoners serving life sentences without parole like manson are not entitled to conjugal visits, just in case you were wondering. welcome to the froze be tundra. today, more than 200 million people in all 50 states will

feel temperatures below 32 degrees. some spots will have record lows by this morning. on the icy roads, rock salt might be hard to find. there is a shortage of it. you can blame last year's severe snowstorms for that. and michigan, salt prices are up by 50%. and in the deep south, five tornadoes hit central georgia and ef-1 with 105-mile-per-hour winds leveled homes in only seconds. nbc meteorologist bill karins is here. and we are not ready for this cold snap. >> it was pretty incredible stuff yesterday. nine tornadoes reported. we had about five inches of snow in cincinnati. and now cold all across the country. officially in pensacola, they dropped down to 30 degrees this morning, which meant that every state out there dropped to 32 or below. that's all 50 states. pretty rare for november. maybe not in the middle of winter. if you're wondering about hawaii, the top of some of the volcanos, it is cold enough to dip down at night below 32. the most impressive weather feature anywhere in the country today, maybe anywhere in the

world, is what is happening with the lake-effect snow band off lake erie. we now had a report of 32 inches of snow, near three feet of snow already just to the south, southeast of buffalo. it is amazing how that lake effect works. some areas will end up five, six feet deep. as far as the west, quiet, temperatures on the chilly side. the windchill is not as bad as it has been. here is the next storm. this will come in during the day. the best chances of rain in the central california coastline will be as we go through tonight. and then during the overnight hours, when we'll get the rain in there and will continue into wednesday. first in the series of a damp p for the northwest too in the days ahead.

breaking overnight, a desperate search in chicago for the pilot of this small plane. it crashed into this house just a couple of hours ago. authorities say the pilot reported engine problems after taking off at midway airport. miraculously the two occupants of this house were not injured. with a global focus on the growing terrorist groups like isis, a new study found that terror attacks soared last year. there were nearly 10,000 terror attacks in 2013, up 44% from 2012. a london based think tank say

the attacks resulted in 18,000 deaths it also found four groups, isis, boko haram, al qaeda and the taliban were responsible for 66% of those deaths. he was a champion for desegregating schools in georgia. former governor carl sanders has died. during his tenure, sanders helped turn atlanta into a big sports city by bringing the falcons and the braves. he was 89. you thought a-rod had the sweetest deal in major league baseball, not anymore. marlins outfielder jean carlos sanchez signed a record $325 million contract, a 13-year contract. let's break that down for you. that is $25 million per season and, get this, more than $154,000 a game. and you are looking at a skyscraper roller coaster. the company behind the $200 million project released this video showing the dips and turns that riders can expect. when it is completed two years

from now, it will be built in orlando and will be the tallest in the world. let's get down to business with cnbc's landon dowdy. >> good morning. the trustee overseeing the bernie madoff case says he's recovered $10 billion for investors since the fraud was discovered in 2008. he struck a $500 million settlement on monday with two funds that invested with madoff who is serving 150 years in prison. a study by two washington think tanks says seven u.s. companies paid more to their ceos last year than they did in taxes. the companies include boeing, verizon and citigroup. the firms dispute the study. honda is offering to replace potentially defective air bags nationwide even though a recall covers cars in 13 high humidity states. honda is recalling cars with takata air bags that can explode

miami. the hurricanes and gators 32-game home winning streak with a 69-67 win. stanford beats uconn in overtime. that ends the huskies 47-game winning streak. stanford ended uconn's record-breaking 90-game winning streak in december 2010. jose canseco's surgically reattached finger recently fell off during a poker match with friends. yuck. well, now he intends to sell the handgun that shot his finger off and the finger on ebay. he said it would read slightly used middle finger with 462 home runs and could be used as a stirring straw for drinks. luckily ebay has a policy against selling body parts. thankfully. and look, ma, no hands. tony hawk tested out a real hover board created by a company called hindo hover. he makes it look easy.

breaking overnight, slaughtered in cold blood, four killed in jerusalem synagogue. two palestinian attackers stormed a synagogue, opening fire and using knives and axes to stab jews who were praying inside. israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu vowed israel will respond harshly to the attack. and from bbc news, icelandic lava field could cover manhattan. it has been erupting for three months. it is responsible for the largest lava field in iceland in more than 200 years. also in the news, from now to december 19th, anyone in lexington, kentucky, with a parking ticket can pay their fine with canned food. in kentucky, the city is holding a food drive. better get there with your ten
