this afternoon we'll actually hit the 70s before the rain moves in. more on that in just moments. take a look at santa rosa. that's cold enough for frost formation. what are you tracking in. >> over here, these are the big -- bigger bridges. debris in the roadway, that will dissipate. it will kind of move over as it hits the cars. we're looking at the rest of the bay and a pretty smooth drive around. we do have a crash reported -- oops, this is the wrong map. i'll straighten out those maps. >> hopefully it dissipates

without hitting your car, right? >> taxi drivers staging a two-hour delay. taxi drivers backed up the traffic at the airport for miles, all of this in protest of ride sharing companies. recently uber and others made deals so they could pick up passengers at the airport. and the taxi cab drivers say they pay fees that the ride sharing companies don't. >> we have to pay fees and they don't have to do any of that.

it's not a fair game. >> san jose police spent the night combing the almaden valley searching for a mountain lion. they say at least three people called 911 to return the cats, including a woman who actually got trapped inside of her car. >> she was sitting in her car and she saw a large cat-like animal in front of the house. and the cat walked around her car and she called her mother, who called 911. >> imagine that might shake you up a little bit. police told the woman to stay in her car. the animal was gone by the time she arrived. >> last night's sighting happened less than a mile away from where this surveillance

video was it and about a month ago, the video showing a mountain lion on top of a san jose man's car in the middle of the night. after standing on top of the car for about 30 seconds, the cat jumped down and went to a neighbor's yard. >> a man charged in the hit-and-run death of a 14-year-old boy is expected in court today. police eventually found his car, which then led them to anderson himself. police say his criminal record includes trying to kill an elderly woman and killing animals at a petting zoo. >> today marks 36 years since the jonestown tragedy. the remains of many of the 918 people temples victims who died

in g -- people's temple gunmen ambushed ryan and killed him at the airport. >> in a month, san jose police staffing levels could dip below 1,000 for the first time in 30 years. in a report it says staff will likely drop from the current 1,010 officers to 988 by july and then down to 949 by 2017. the projections factor in the fact that three or four officers quit every month. the report also assumes cadet classes will have about 45 cadets but there were fewer than 30 cadets in the last two classes. >> san francisco supervisors could be voting on a proposal to chang the way hourly workers get

paid. it would give workers two weeks' notice on their schedules, extra pay for coming in lastment and more chances for full-time employment. some executives come plan the rules would make it too hard and expensive to keep adequate staff. >> the city of campbell will consider putting the squeeze on those styrofoam containers. a ban would not extend to any items you might find in the supermarket like egg cartons or meat trays. >> tonight east palo alto is planning to adopt a series of water restrictions for anyone living within city limits. they could include no hosing down driveway or sidewalks, no excess runoff, no fountains that don't recirculate and no hose without a shutoff nozzle.

it is 4:44. welcome back. look at this. new this morning crews are searching for the pilot of a small airplane that crashed into a home in chicago. the plan was to head from chicago's mid way airport to chicago's executive airport and then the plane went down. the faa says the pilot reported engine problems shortly after take-off and tried to return to mid way but the plane crashed about a quarter mile from the airport instead. the two people inside the home

were not hurt but crews have not been able to find the pilot. >> missouri's governor has ex t activated the national guard in case there is more trouble in ferguson. wilson is responsible for shooting unarmed teen-ager michael brown in august. that sparked weeks of protest. >> scientists say they're sure a burst of sunshine will wake up the rover. its solar powered battery ran out of power. it won't be in the sunshine until sometime in the spring. >> honda working quickly with the faulty air bags.

of low pressure. you have that counterclockwise rotation, it's well organized. this thing is going to provide some good rain to the entire bay area. not just the north bay but we are expecting the highest totals as we head throughout the next few days and get the series of storms in the north day. temperatures are going to be comfortable today, upper 60s to low 70s. showers first arrive in the north bay, the steady rain as we get into this evening. once we're in the pattern, we have rain chances thursday, friday into saturday with the heaviest rain expected on witness into early thursday and late friday into early saturday, potentially another system as we head into the early part of next week. so let me kind of show you where the models are this morning. we stopped that clock for you at midnight. starting to get that heavy rainful up in the north bay. all of that comes in as we wake u and meet back here tomorrow morning. we are counting on some pretty good action right here on "today
