francisco this morning. authorities are trying to figure out who killed a san francisco man overnight. it's unclear exactly where or how the man was killed. we have several calls in to police. we'll be bring you the latest information as soon as it is available to us. >> san jose police are investigating after a third security bridge breach at the airport. yesterday morning around 10, 10:15, he allegedly breached the

airport perimeter on the west side. this is over by atlantic aviation. authorities detained him while wait for police but he got away and reportedly stole a city maintenance truck, drove it over to terminal b to curbside and he was then arrested. no flights were affected and there want a threat to public safety. passengers we spoke with might beg to differ. >> a guy can come in and steal like a maintenance vehicle, who knows what else they can do, bringing in weapons and what not. that can be kind of scary. >> just makes you wonder about security, how can someone get that far on the on-ramp? >> this is the third security breach in just under a year. a 15-year-old boy scaled a fence

here, climbed into wheel well of a passenger jet and survive a trip to hawaii. a woman was able to get on to a flight to los angeles without a ticket. bob redell, "today in the bay." >> u.c. students planning to walk out of classes from several college campuses today. this is a fallout after the board of regents votes to raise tuition 28%. now the urgency is raised another level this morning. hello, steph. >> reporter: hey, good morning to you, sam. we're in the main lobby of wheeler hall where the main protests have been here at u.c. berkeley. here it's pretty empty and quiet, a couple of police officers patrolling, lots of signs up. most of the protesters are

inside the main lecture hall sleeping, 20 to 30 of them. a difference in the presence as when we were first here. they do have three demands, the primary one being that regents rescind that tuition hike they approved thursday of up to 5% for five years if the state does not provide more funding. >> the message is still there. it's that knowledge is not a commodity and is not a privilege, that people should be taken away from the public. >> reporter: things have been peaceful since last wednesday's board of regents meeting.

in terms of the movement, there is thanksgiving break happening later this week, but students say even if they go home, they'll be right back here to continue this message. in terms of the walkout, that is planned at noon, which is statewide at various campuses. >> very interesting, it's a statewide response right now. thank you, stephanie. >> san francisco police are looking for a pair of package thieves so bold their crime was caught on tape. this is video from a multi-unit building in the mission district. the resident said what grabbed his attention of boxes left in the trash instead of the recycle bin. he said residents don't do that. and the man checked the security system. >> i looked and the addresses were sequential to each other

but were not the same address. that's unusual. i made a little note and i said you're probably expecting something and if you were, i found the boxes for what you may have been expecting in my trash can. >> he says police were notified and general postal inspectors recommend getting packages insured, requiring a signature in an item is valuable or have a neighbor pick them up for you. if you suspect theft, make sure you report it. >> a window washer who fells 11 stories remains in life threatening condition in san francisco. the man was getting ready to hoist scaffolding friday. a car searching for a parking spot broke his fall. >> turning to our microforecast,

it's pretty cool. >> amply chilly. >> you probably noticed that over the weekend as well, those cold mornings settling in and that's what happens. when we get to cold front coming to the bay area. this weekend we are going to see high pressure firmly in control. clouds are arcing up and around that big ridge of high pressure. it also keeps us nice and chilly in the morning hours. so grab that coat, bundle up the little ones. a lot of kids have this week off. so that might mean a better than usual commute. but temperatures this morning are chilly. if you're someone really looking forward to all the sales, you're going to be headed out early this morning or any time this week, make sure you bring your

jacket. lows falling into the 40s and 30s for the first time this year in places like the south bay. as we get into this afternoon, temperatures will be in the 60s and then you bring in some changes. looking good through your thanksgiving, but getting home could be problematic with another round of rain on the way. this one could produce generous rainfall totals. keep in mind it could be tricky for travelers across the state as we head throughout your friday, saturday and union. let's check on your drive. welcome in mike inouye. how was your weekend? >> it was great this weekend. you and i both were over at that food drive. i'm sorry if you used the other entrance, just come over to the one by starbucks where i hang out in fremont, i'm always by the starbucks.

we have a crash west 580, told but that. the update from chp is that everything is now cleared from the center divide. some distraction but not a lot of slowing. we had an earlier crash similar that is off the roadway, no slowing, though, and none for the rest of the south bay. as we look at our speed sensors along the peninsula and east bay, the typical pattern on 880 and 101. the dumbarton bridge, it's so clear we can see that westbound traffic across 84. equally as light with those few taillights. san mateo also with the connector. look at that light twinkle across that high rise. that's an optical illusion. that's also a clear drive.

>> what happens in a missouri courtroom could spark protest or change nationwide. the 12 men and women on the grand jury deciding whether to charge a white police officer with the death of a black teen-ager could make their decision today. kris sanchez joins us. good morning, kris. >> reporter: good morning, laura. seven men, five women. outside people gathered in the community where that unarmed black teen-ager was shot by a white police officer, who says he was acting in self-defense. about 150 people did march and even blocked an intersense for a short time, but it was largely peaceful. law enforcement surrounds the area around the courthouse and the barricades went up as well.

the community waiting for the grand jury to decide whether that officer will be charged today. >> i wanted my kids to see the importance on what's going on, you know, what's going on in ferguson and the whole st. louis area in general. >> meanwhile the man you see right there is michael brown's father. he delivered turkeys to the community that has so much support for his son and for his family. he is asking, as he has in the last couple of days, that the protests be peaceful. >> nine of the 12 members of that grand jury have to agree on what their decision is going to be. they could decide murder, manslaughter or no charge at all for that police officer. >> the nation right now gripped with what that outcome will be. thank you very much, kris. >> a baby left in a storm drain for days miraculously survives. the charges the mother is facing this morning. >> and the nation's newspapers

green arrows at the opening bell this morning. the marks are coming off another positive week with the dow and s&p 500 posting five straight weeks of gains. look for reports this week on gdp, housing, consumer confidence, unemployment and personal income and spending. on friday the dow rising 91 points and the nasdaq up 11. back to you. >> thank you. the faa may be on the cusp of some very serious regulations for drones. this may include requiring people who even fly small drones to have an actual pilots license. that requirement would only come if the person wanted to use the drone commercially, using it to take pictures, check crops, that kind of thing. the faa would even include this popular drone, the a.r. drone.

a very good morning to you. i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> and i'm sam brock. >> san jose police investigating a third security breach at the airport. a man was taken into custody after getting on to the tarmac and stealing a maintenance vehicle? >> tease what san jose police suggest. they have not said why this man did this and what his intentions were. they did arrest manuel siragosa. this happened around 10:00 yesterday morning when he breached the perimeter on the west side of the property over at atlantic aviation. authorities spotted him, detained him, got him off the

tarmac. they called police. he stole a maintenance truck and drove to terminal b. >> fortunately san jose detected this individual rather early, unlike the other two breaches. so, again, i have to commend them for that. but until we have a system where security is notified the second the breach happens, i still think passenger safety is at risk. >> the heard the congressman mention other breaches. there have been two prior to this one. in april, a 15-year-old climbed a fence, climbed in a wheel well and survived a fly to hawaii. and in august, marilyn hartman was able to sneak on to a flight from san jose to los angeles.

the students say they'll continue to occupy wheeler hall until their primary requests are met. the students say the walkout at noon today will show their solidarity with some even marching on the streets. >> the walkout is going to be really interesting. there's going to be a lot of dynamic speakers. a lot of people are going to be talking on specific points or reading poems or rallying. >> you may remember the image of the shattered glass door since the regents meeting. it's been calm since then. the other students' demands have been for the charges against jeff novan to be dropped.

one of the thoughts from students was they may walk through the streets around local high schools because the future students are those who will be impacted by this tuition hike. the walkout is scheduled for noon today. we know u.c. davis and santa cruz are also planning to take part. >> thanks, steph. >> we have details on the search for a missing surfer in pacifica. the unidentified surfer was last seen face down near rockaway beach. they called off the search just before 10:00 last night. >> a teen-ager is recovering at a south bay hospital after a dramatic rescue. it started yesterday morning when the 17-year-old boy fell from a cliff at san jose's allen rock park. crews initially had a hard time locating him. the boy tumbled 30 feet from

let's look at your maps -- the north bay where southbound 101 show as smooth drive. we're expecting a typical pattern as far as the slowdown and the north bay commute. we should have a shorter duration from the bulk of your morning commute and probably mostly severe to kim it in and also west 580 showed that build coming in toward the dublin interchange. again, we're expecting a typical pattern and the worst parts of your commute, we'll still see that slowing but we should see overall lighter traffic. >> right now it's 5:38 on your monday. a city is on edge this morning, of course we're talking about

ferguson, in cleveland tension is building between police and its community. on the rise right now after the shooting death of a 12-year-old boy carrying a toy gun. san jose's kris sanchez joining us live now. >> reporter: sam, 12-year-old boy who was at a recreation center when someone called 911 was shot and killed and died of his injuries yesterday. a person called 911 said he saw the boy pulling out a weapon, that also appeared to be fake. >> there's a guy with a miss po pistol that is pointing it at everybody. it probably is fake but it's scaring the [ bleep ] out of everyone. >> police told him to put his

in 2012, hernandez confessed to abducting and murdering a 6-year-old. the judge will rule if that confession can be presented and when a trial could take place. no body was ever found and authorities testified hernandez does live with mental disabilities. >> last night's collapse left hundreds without power. early reports indicated there was an explosion. fire officials don't believe anyone else was inside. the bomb and it turns out this was his second crash. it happened when the bus veered off of i-5 and rolled down an embankment in shasta county.
