ingredients. as of tomorrow everything changes. we have a lot of rain coming into the bay area. rain we haven't had for up to four months. and it could hamper people trying to get back home. we're going to talk about that as we head throughout your morning. right now i'm going to send it back to you and the rest of the top stories for today. >> and we are following breaking news this morning. all lanes of northbound 880 in hayward are closed this hour as police investigate a deadly crash from overnight. it is unclear exactly what happened and investigators are still working at the scene. the crash was reported at 2:30 this morning. a sig alert was given this

morning. >> and happening now, the final countdown. thousands of people are camped outside several stores hoping to be the first to take advantage of the sales. for some holiday shopping is a tradition. here's a look at some of the stores hoping today. walmart, macy's and target, they all open at 6:00. if you're headed to the livermore outlet, you can expect heavy traffic. not only inside the outlets but on the roadway as well. construction is limiting parking spots. and there will be an extra

police presence to keep the road moving and down near the parking lots. >> the earliest, though, is all of them. the chain will welcome anxious shoppers in about an hour from now. that means while most people are preparing meals or getting ready for black friday shopping, others have to work. four associates were given a memo about having to work on thanksgiving day. >> it said basically we have to work for thanksgiving or we're going to get fired. >> many others say the special hours doesn't give them the chance to spend time with their families. now they are calling for legislation to end mandatory retail shifts on holidays or

provide overtime pay. >> there should be a choice for an employee to be with their families on thanksgiving day or earn overtime pay. >> orchard stores have plenty of black friday deals for tomorrow, they wanted to make sure that people can spend time with their families. >> so they are closed today but he said they have received positive feedback from customers

that they are honoring family time. >> and there are plenty of others who are closed today for the holidays. there has been quite a backlash against thanksgiving day shopping. one survey claims more than 50% of people surveyed dislike the idea of shopping on thanksgiving day. >> now we have new details on a side show in oakland. dozens of people are waking up in jail this thanksgiving morning after allegedly taking part in this large side show overnight. you can see a crowd of people blocking the roadway watching as cars do donuts spinning out of control, blocking traffic near 7th and maritime. we even saw one car smashed into a wall and on fire.

after about 15 minutes chp and oakland police showed up, boxing in about 100 cars and trapping them on the roadways. the road was closed for hours as officers tried to wrangle the drivers and get those cars off the road. >> and we haven't gotten official arrest numbers yet but our nbc news helicopter did find officers detaining dozens of people. and that was the sound for the third straight night, a mixture of protesters and troublemakers leaving a path of damage in oakland. the oakland tribune building was among the targets. those with protests were largely peaceful, just like the last few nights there were splinter

groups causing damage. >> you are out here breaking windows, disrespecting people, beating up on one another. what change are you making? nothing. so change and do it the right way. >> last night law enforcement changed their tactics. last night this were very active to keep with demonstrators and men miz the property damage. officers had to bring in vans to take the protesters away. if the protesters didn't bail out last night for $500, they'll be spending the weekend in jail because of the thanksgiving weekend. >> now, in ferguson, authorities did not scale back their resources to combat violent protesters, even though they are hopeful that the worst is over.

delays at any of your major airports this hour. if you're going to be traveling across acrosses -- across the state of california, you can find a little bit of patchy, black ice around sunrise so that could become problematic. or wise we're looking pretty good, breezy at times around 101, just a beautiful drive if you get to take that down the coast and spectacular, even for those people out there camping, waiting for the sales, it's not too bad out there this morning and it will be really nice later on today. my next report will be focused entirely on the rain coming our way. we could see localized flooding,

we'll get you started off at 9:00 this morning. so how about our forecast. >> although i do have to tell you this is going to be quite a parade this year, kris. especially if you've got little ones. they love these balloons. here's the deal, we had some really significant wind this year it's going to go off without a hitch. a gust well below the criteria for bringing down the balloons. you'll notice the street lined with people bundled up. 32 degrees, that is freezing. it's going to be the temperature with wind chills at 29 degrees. the 40s and 50s not too bad here this morning. we're at 57 degrees to kek off your financial day. we will see the 70, 71 degrees
