the forecast with meteorologist christina loren. no pounding rain at least this morning. >> no, but it's still slick out there. we have a great story to tell when it comes to the amount of rainfall we've accumulated. not just here in the bay area. it's a great story for the entire state of california. we might be able to climb from d4 to d3. you may not know what i'm talking about. we're talking about the drought. right now we're as extreme as it gets when it comes to that drought. but we've picked up so much rainfall over the past five days, enough to mack up that deficit up to about 20% in san francisco. so we're looking good. we'll have the latest numbers for you as we head throughout the next couple of days. the rainfall is still coming in so we're still adding to your totals. this morning getting a little break from the rain.

>> reporter: i want to start with the fact that it's been a couple of stressful days for christina forecasting the weather. there are quite a number of people who are watching for the launch this morning, folks who work at nasa and at lockheed, who had a hand in getting them to this point. the launch had been on hold for a number of minor issues, though no showstoppers. ready, go. and it looks look this might be the real thing. we're talking about the launch of the orion that is going to orbit the earth four and a half hours, go around the earth two times and it could be the first step toward manned space for
