first we want to check your forecast with christina loren. >> good morning, everyone. just a few light showers expected. we are talking about the heaviest rain on the way to california. first let's check your drive. here's mike inouye. >> we're looking over here toward where you have to trust me, this is 580 through dublin. the taillights are westbound toward the interchange. there's not a lot of track from what you see here. you can also see how foggy it is. let's show you the map we're talking about. the orange on our map is our road weather, tied together with our traffic and weather system. also wider spread throughout the tri-valley. our friend with us in the studio area, a lot of fog coming in. look at 680 forth of there

through concord, walnut creek. this is a little heavier than we saw last week. now, over on the right side, the north bay not so bad. but you still watch for the patchy fog along the golden gate bridge. and the south bay, we'll talk about what's going on in the south bay. we had an earlier crash a few minutes ago. >> now the latest developments in berkeley where a second straight night of peaceful protesting turns violent. >> bob redell is live in berkeley. we're talking about smashing windows and looted stores. things seem to be settling down on the protest front, not the clean-up front, though. >> reporter: right in this started around 9:00 last night, a little earlier in the evening. several hundred people out here described as peaceful, they were

marching to protest the recent grand jury decisions not to indict white police officers killing unarmed black men. this radio shack here they looted and a protester implored others to stop and he was then hit in the head with a hammer. he was taken to the hospital and is doing okay. in some instances they set fire to debris and dumpsters in the road. law enforcement tells us that some protesters threw rock, bottles and at one point an explosive device at them, possibly an m-80. you saw the photos of the chp vehicles. this was around 9:00 last night, a couple hundred of those protesters went on highway 24 in

oakland, blocking several lanes of traffic. that's where they met up with chp. according to berkeley police and chp, they arrested 13 people last night, two of the officers were injured, minor injuries, they were taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay, in which you're going to see throughout berkeley this morning. a situation like this where you have these contractors out here, again having to board up windows this morning. this being a radio shack. you can see the windows were busted out. i mentioned this to the manager here. it looks like they might have gone inside and taken some of the merchandise as well. >> reporting live from berkeley, eric redell. >> and eric garner's wife on the news yesterday asking people if you're going to protest, please do so peacefully. >> when we are not on the air,

police officer were both taken to the hospital but have since been released. >> a shooting happened at a club. a security guard was trying to break up a fight between niners and raiders fans where he was shot. the restaurant has not commented. several people were detained for questions but it's unclear whether the suspend gunman was arrested. >> things staying mostly calm for yesterday's o.co battle of the bay. the crowd for the most part was very peaceful and respectful. there were a few arrests and scuffles. fans on both sides ate together, tailgated together and seemed to keep the action on the field. >> we're all together, we're having a good time. we've been here since 5:00 in

>> a live look outside at the bay bridge as folks are starting their early commute. according to a top american diplomat, the u.s. had no clue one of two hostages killed in a navy seal raid last week was on the verge of being released. he was being held captive in al qaeda and yemen. some suggest the u.s. was not aware of a second hostage, peter korkie. the ambassador will say the u.s. did not know negotiations were going on to release him. both hostages died in a fire fight. >> happening today, we could find out if the man accused of killing a tsa agent at lax will

face the death penalty. prosecutors are supposed to announce whether they will -- he has pled not guilty. >> this is interesting. new dehli has now banned uber, this after a woman was allegedly raped by one of its drivers. they made the announcement as a 32-year-old suspect appeared in court. the driver sexually assaulted a passenger who reportedly fell asleep on the ride home. the ceo/. >> you may soon have to pay a little bit more to rent a room using air bnp.

i'm want to show you when we're expecting the heaviest stuff. all of this is going to continue to pretty much stave put right where it is in the north bay as we head throughout the morning hours and the chance for showers will deteriorate. really nice day and tomorrow is going to be pretty nice as well. then i take you into late week starting on wednesday night. we have rainfall on the way. now, this system is definitely going to have an atmospheric river tap. i can tell you that is what's going to create these heavy totals but this is where we're going to be in the thick of it, starting at about 6:00 a.m. on thursday morning, that heavy rainfall moving to the north bay, sliding over san francisco about 10:00 a.m. to 4:00. and in san francisco, we're expecting the heavy stuff between 3:00 and 8:00. and we're talking about inches of rain, it's going to to get very active here.

walgreens is pulling a specific wrapping paper from its shovels after a southern california woman complained about finding swastikas on them. the woman said she was shopping in the north ridge walgreens when she found the blue and silver pattern that had lines connected in the shape of that

nazi symbol. she complained to the manager overnight and that paper has reportedly been pulled from store shelves. walgreens says other stores will also get rid of that paper. >> doctors say a blow to the chest could cause teens to have an irregular heart beat. an otherwise healthy 16-year-old boy got an irregular heart beat after being hit in football practice. doctors say it may be important to recognize an irregular heart beat in cases like this because it could raise the risk of an abnormal heart rhythm later on. >> a study suggesting people who have surgery to repair a torn meniscus in the knee may be more prone to arthritis. all 31 knees that had been operated on to fix the tears develop arthritis within about a year.
