>> and i'm kris sanchez. laura garcia-cannon is off today. >> people are angry offer the recent shooting death across the country, taking their frustration out on local businesses. this is what happened to a chase bank in berkeley. also local businesses were hit. you can see the protesters smash a window and then just walk away. >> so a lot of activity there. let's check in with meteorologist christina loren who is checking the possibility -- or the guarantee, i think, of more rain this week. >> the guarantee i can give you 100%. how much, that's the big question mark. this morning, we're tracking a little fog through the tri-valley. north bay rain to south bay sun. that's the sorry throughout today. everybody seeing a fair amount of sunshine today, tomorrow, things start to turn cloudy and then we bring in the rain, heavy at times, by wednesday night.

middle of the rote. -- around 9:00 last night, you know, there was probably about 500, 600 protesters out here, a smaller group of them, around 200, went up on highway 24, shutting down several lanes of traffic in the oakland area. that's where they met up and that supports what we have seen as well. 13 people arrested last night, two arrested for what they allegedly did the night before and there were two officers who were hurt, minor injuries. it should be noted that according to at least one report, some of the protesters,

many of the protesters, were chanting peaceful "peaceful protest" in hopes of avoiding scenes like this. one protesters told folks who were going to damage the radio shack store. >> thank you very much, bob. the los angeles loss fire crews are putting out. >> we're going to take a live look outside now to see how things appear at 5:05. that is the fire. it closed down parts of the 110 and 101 freeways for a brief time. more than 200 firefighters were called in to fight that fire.

going on back home. >> christina loren, you say we have quite a forecast, the heaviest rain in a decade on thursday. >> we're expecting that over a 24-hour period. it's going to get very active here. we're already at 200% or above. here in san jose we're in 175% of average for the season so far thanks to all the rain we've been getting so far this season. here's the deal. you know me, i'm always looking at about 15 days out. it's not just this week. those storms are lining up and that storm window looks to stay open throughout the entire month of december. now that could change but basically for us that means we'll get one to two good storm systems throughout the month. just look around the bay area and you see that story, beautiful, green luscious hills. you don't need your umbrella

unless you're waking up west and north of the golden gate bridge. we have two and a half miles visibility in concord and we been down to around a mile and a half drifting around livermore. gilroy also seeing the fog develop down there. watch out if you're trying to get over to central valley. about 70 degrees right here in beautiful san jose. heavy rain moves in by wednesday night into thursday. you're going to get a couple days to prepare your home. because of the wind event we had last week, a lot of leaves were knocked off of those branches out there and that could create some big problems if people don't get those out. heads up, i warned you if you see those flooded areas. the heavy stuff comes through, also expecting some thunderstorms, some very gusty wind and some high waves.

right now we want to talk to mike about your drive. >> being drier conditions, that's better for your commute. let's look at your pattern on your maps and what you expect to see, slower drive developing north of the 180 interchange. that will calm down and come back to another 35 minutes from now. so far a typical pattern here for 85 and 87. no big drama here. we did have an earlier crash reported southbound at 101. 81 looked like it cleared without any real slowing. you already see a little slowing up. a smoother drive but a little bit of a build for west 84 across that dumbarton bridge. a big are concern is here for the tri-valley. the orange around here, fog, low clouds definitely for the altamont pass, also out of

brentwood and a smooth drive approaching the bay bridge. west 580 slows a bit and so does west 24. we'll show you the dublin area. we talked about the low clouds covering, the low cloud hovering around, can be an issue from time to time. an at the emeryville cameras, we see the starch inchions. >> a different perspective there. thank you very much, mike. we could find out today if the man accused of killing a tsa agent at l.a.x. will face the death penalty. prosecutors are supposed to announce whether they'll seek the death penalty for paul ciancia. they say he opened up fire last year killing a tsa agent and hurting through other people as well.

he has pleaded not guilty. the judge wants the case to go to trial next year. >> a disturbing discovery at the seen the shooting happened at about the:30 at the corner of golden gate and leavenworth. it is unclear right now who the victim is and. >> the driver has not been identified, but we are told she is in grave condition. the passenger in the car and a police officer also taken to the hospital, but they have since been released. >> the raiders and the niners squared off this weekend in the battle of the bay.

there were questions coming into the weekend about what kind of violence we might see. now from the south bay, a security guard from a popular sports bar is in the hospital. it happened at the britainia club. several people were detained and questioned. it's unclear if the actual shooter was arrested. >> things stayed mostly calm at o.co for yesterday's battle of the bay. raiders fans still feeling good about the underdog raiders shock of the 49ers. fans on both sides ating to, tailgated together and seemed to keep the action.

the north bay. as we head throughout the morning hours, the chance of rain will lessen. it will be really comfortable. then the rain moves in and a lot of it over a very short duration of time. we are expecting localized flooding later on this week. and rain measured in inches. yet again with more on the way for the next couple of weeks. our situation has turned around. we're going to talk about that, if i have you a little. traffic is flowing here from the toll plaza, underneath the stanchion with the all-green lights. it looks like the metering lights are on but they are not. the map shows you no drama outside of the approach off of the maze and a pretty typical pattern for most of the bay.
