i'm kira klapper. anthony slaughter has a look at your micro climate weather. i've been a busy man this week. >> you can see it's so calm it almost looks like a post card. that is a live camera you are looking at. i want to bring your attention to the fog out there. in san francisco we have that typical fog. in the tri-valley, that fog is dense this morning. it will burn out of here and we'll see a dry and sunny weekend. temperatures will be chilly this weekend. has that deceptive sunshine. it will look nice but feel chilly. as we head towards this upcoming week, we have a rainy pattern headed our way. we are not only talking about one day of rain but possibly three to four days of rain coming our way monday through friday this upcoming week. you can see doppler radar is fired up. we don't have any rain to show you right now. that's good news. we'll continue to dry out. look at those numbers. in the 40s this morning. mid 40s for the south bay.
7:01 am
this afternoon will stay chilly and temperatures only top out in the 50s. another storm system headed our way. not only one but possibly three. >> enjoy this break while it lasts is what you're saying. it will be a very quick relief. >> this upcoming week we'll have more rain. it will come over the course of several days unlike what we had all that rain in just one day. >> all that rain. >> a little good news. i'll detail that coming up. that storm has passed, but the damage is lingering. some people have been forced out of their homes because of flooding that's causing health concerns. late last night, redwood city officials red tagged homes at the lamar trailer park and rc mobile home park on bayshore road. we have a live look at one of those mobile home parks. look at that standing water. crews should be starting right around now to pump some of that
7:02 am
water out. firefighters have been helping residents evacuate since flood waters rose high enough to reach the living spaces of those homes on thursday when the deluge came. residents had been wading through potentially contaminated flood waters to go back to their homes to get some of their belongings. residents tell us both mobile home parks have a history of drainage problems. the creek behind their neighborhood almost always floods spilling to nearby homes and businesses. officials say the flood water left behind by thursday's fierce storm could be polluted. >> possible sewer and anything else on the ground that is still lying on there for health reasons, we'll evacuate both parks. >> we need help from the city, but we don't need them to throw us out of our homes. >> they are going to figure it out. that's been ten years. they still haven't done anything. you get tired of it. >> those residents tell us they will demand a permanent fix to
7:03 am
this drainage problem. many of the displaced are staying at a shelter at the college of san mateo and the city is working with the red cross and county office of emergency services to help those people. >> the powerful storm made its way to southern california and wasted no time creating chaos. look at that. an actual tornado roaring through the streets. it ripped through a ten-block span a few miles from the usc campus. at least five homes were damaged. we have video of the aftermath. parts of a roof wrecked and stacked like a pile of tooth picks. those who experienced it can't believe what they saw and heard. >> my door slammed open. dang, who left the door open? then you could hear bam really loud. >> it came through. i watched my roof of this house slip and go to the next street.
7:04 am
>> surely you know like here in the bay area, tornados in l.a. are extremely rare. wow. from a tornado in los angeles to a water spout off the point rays lighthouse. a water spout is a tornado over water. the storm saturated the ground and could cause more of this, fallen trees. crews finished removing a 90 foot tree that crashed through a senior living home in union city. two people were hospitalized after the tree came toppling down early yesterday morning. crews are inspecting nearby trees to see if there is the same damage. pg&e crews are working to get power back to all its customers hopefully by the end of the day today. last night crews were working to get 1,000 people back online. this huge monterey pine had to be removed from a driveway.
7:05 am
the tree toppled over during the height of the storm on thursday. >> people came out and settled this area in the '40s and '50s. these trees were planted for fast shade. unfortunately, they now have a lot of problems. >> power to majority of cust mores have been restored. crews won't stop until the last customer has their lights on. >> crews are preparing for the next storm which anthony said will return late tomorrow night. in the south bay, a safeway store suffered extensive damage from the storm. look at that. not one but two approximately 50-foot holes in the roof caused by the storm. this is the safeway on east capital expressway near silver creek high school. it's still too dangerous for anyone to enter the store. the partial roof collapse could turn into something bigger. it's unclear when the store will reopen. >> now to the north bay where

tuesday. the city will pay the family nearly $3 million. we noticed first hand in the bay area allowing people to protest is expensive. protesters cost the city of oakland $1.3 million in the last few weeks alone. city officials say that cost only covers police and staff overtime. it doesn't include the cost to repair damage to local businesses. now to a picture that's drawing harsh criticism. an undercover chp officer pulling a gun on a crowd during a protest last week. jodi hernandez has more on the controversy and how city leaders are dealing with complaints. >> reporter: it's an image causing a stir. a plain clothed officer pointing his gun at protesters and a news photographer after being outed by demonstrators during wednesday's march. >> it's recklessly endangering their own officers and the other

but two weeks ago. we got about 2-4 inches of rain at the valley floor. i think as we head towards this upcoming week, look at rainfall totals. the first system will come through monday. that will bring about one inch, maybe even 2-3 across the coastal mountains. thursday and friday, that's when we are going to get another push of heavy rain. we could be talking about another additional inch, maybe 2-3. overall, you can see your rainfall totals through this week are going to be very similar to what we saw in just one day. again, we are going to get lots of heavy rain. it will be spread out this week. we are not talking about potential huge flash flooding, but we could look at more trouble across the bay area. especially considering our ground is saturated. any little bit of rain could be detrimental to the bay area. >> thanks. we have much more ahead on "today in the bay." coming up -- the food and drinks will bring to you one bay area
