their efforts. 162 people died when that plane went down on sunday. >> not just the usual new year's eve activity in some bay area cities last night protests took on in oakland and san francisco. this is video from last night's protest. a chopper was over the protest when things were peaceful. oakland police said things did get out hand. at least 29 people were arrested. san jose police not reporting any incidents against its officers after what's being called unprecedented threats against police nationwide. there were online posts calling on people to target officers for revenge. some even called for a, quote, new year's eve massacre of

officers. those threats thankfully never materialized. chp officers being extra vigilant, keeping an eye out for impaired drivers on one of the busiest nights of the year. officer amanda meyers spent her 12-hour shift looking for distracted drivers and people behind the wheel after drinking too much. officer meyers thinking people are getting the message. >> people know we go out in full force, try to support someone another. don't want to leave anyone out there alone in an unsafe situation. >> reporter: unlike the san jose police department, the chp did not require officers to ride with a partner. instead officers reminded to be on high alert and they're still out there this morning. across the bay area people braved the cold to ring in the new year. >> happy new year! >> if you weren't in san

33 in campbell, my hometown, 34 santa teresa and 31 down in morgan hill. up might be trying to catch a flight. good news is no delays out of any of our major airports, including new york city, san francisco is right on time. we could see some delays out of los angeles but i don't think we're going to see much here. that's because it's going to be crystal clear, just like we're seeing. and finally that wind is starting to really back off. these are your current temperatures as we head throughout the day for you. not a big climb, on 56 for today in cold but beautiful wine country. getting into the mid section, annd of the week 56 degrees, today 58 tomorrow. so you'll notice that difference even when you adjust your thermostat a degree or what. it makes a big difference in your home. take a look at where our lows are headed.
