new chaos in paris. a police officer is dead, another person fighting for their life this morning after a gunman opened fire on the southern edge of the city. authorities say the shooting happened when the officer stopped to investigate an accident. the other victim was a street sweeper standing nearby. the suspect is on the run this morning. >> and the shooting comes as authorities right now swarming the streets of paris searching for two suss spents wand for killing 12 people yesterday at the office of the satirical magazine "charlie hebdo." >> seven people under arrest this morning have ties to the two suspects, the brothers who are on the run this morning. in just the last few minutes weeks got news from nbc networks that witnesses have old nbc news

that police have descended on a town not far from where the suspects have been sighted. the manhunt continues. there are reports two men matching the description of the brothers fired shots and stole food from a gas station this morning. after police released photos of the brothers, citizens of france, started reporting that they were sighted in the northern eastern region. also in northeastern france, 18-year-old french national hamyd mourad turned himself in after seeing his name in social

media. within of the brothers, the one on the left, cherif did time in jail. >> we're going to find out how they were radicalized. >> meanwhile, several victims are still fighting for their lives. parisians and supporters around the world hope the number will not claim for those killed in the attack. the brothers may be traveling by road. because they are french nationals, they may have french passports and may be able to travel more easily than someone from area. >> people came together across

them for hours last night. one man was arrested right on scene. the other person ran away and into the neighborhood near south fremont street near 101. authorities told people to keep their doors and windows locked. he was found hiding in bushes and taken into custody. >> let's take a peek outside this morning, help you wake up. this is overlooking san bruno. pretty clear and a nice start to our now thursday morning, don't you think? >> yes, nice and mild, which is great with the weekend so close upon us. chris to andia how are you tracking things this morning? >> good morning. tracking some mild temperatures and overall what will shape up to be a nice warm day, above average, jumping into the jumer 60s, getting close to 70s just about everywhere with the exclusion of san francisco. that's because we have a return of some of that fog this morning. 50 degrees there, 43 in oakland,

a couple things to point out here, really happy to see this, a return of that onshore flow. we've had a cloudless sky for the past few days. a lot of that onshore flow will kick in later on today. but if you're headed through the delta, that fog is thick. if you're headed that way, maybe you're taking an early weekend, you want to travel cautiously. improvement by tonight. we'll see a return of the low clouds. the fog will be back and that looks good for us to continue to see that air quality improve as we head into the weekend. the 60s for today, 66 on the peninsula and 64 degrees, a comfortable day in oak town.

unfortunately you'll notice the haze thickening up as the day goes on add more cars hate the highway. remember, it's illegal to burn on a spare the air day. the next rain chance we're looking at as the 17th and 18th. we'll tell you who might get that rain first and how much they might get. here's mike on your drive. >> folks, you'll take a long time getting out of dublin on 580. those flares will turn to cones over the next 45 minutes. they're going to do a hard closure, cone off those right two lanes of westbound 580. there's an overturned big rig. they're loading cans of beers on

to the back of it, they can't right that rig until they completely offload that truck. the shot from our photographer shows you where you're going down from five lanes to three lanes or two lanes. we're looking at the map on the approach through the dublin interchange, coming out of livermore. you're basically down to a crawl all the way to the dublin interchange and that's making things tough there. this is the toughest drive and the only real issue for most of of the bay. not a major concern north of 680. you see this wide view of our bay. we see mostly green all over, including hayward. also upper east shore and even the north bay, we just have a little slowing there, petaluma and a be live look at san raphael showing a very light volume of traffic just now

so the 46 degrees in san jose. temperatures are going to climb to the mid 60s, it should be comfortable out there. if you are someone who suffers from asthma or respiratory issues, we on our seventh consecutive spare the air day. you'll want to monitor your activity out there. although i did temperatures steld steadily dropping off. we do have a storm on the way as we head throughout the 17th into the 18th of the month. and for us that's looking really good. your futurecast bringing it in this morning. this is the latest model reason from the gsf.

some last-minute tweaks to the bid could mean a change for the bay area. >> reporter: that's right. maybe ed lee and new oakland mayor libby schaaf were on the phone with a new idea to host the opening and closing ceremonies at a new stadium in oakland that would also host track and field events and that stadium would be the permanent home for the raiders. the olympic could provide some funding. mayor lee is quoted as saying the committee liked the idea adding it enhances the overall bid. mayor lee says the olympic athletes village set to be built at the hunters point ship yard would be converted into affordable housing after the games. overall the cost of hosting the olympics is estimated at $4.5

to see when the sun comes up. it's keeping temperatures nice and mild. look at where it not so mild. neg if i have 2 in detroit, negative 6 in chicago. scott knows all about the code there. minneapolis at 5 degrees. even austin waking up at 23. again, bay area temps the envy of the nation. we've got this jet stream the reason for the warm here and the cold over on the northeast side of our nation. for us we have nice, warm temperatures. until this big ridge of high temperatures starts to move over to the east, they're not going to get out of the withhold l cold. once it does, though, it's going to enable us to have cooler temperatures and a return to that storp tram track as of nex week. comfortable conditions on the north bay. you will see that thin veil of haze out there. not as thick as it was yesterday. we'll continue to see our air quality improve as we get into

another spare the air sequence here. >> you can feel it with the air a little gritty. >> i had to take my contacts out at 3:00. >> i did, too. i didn't realize until you brought it up. >> part of the reason is the return of that onshore flow. we need those clouds. the more cloud cover we get is an indication of loosh that is much needed to get our air quality out of the spare the air mode. it's going to take one, maybe two more days before we start sparing the air. the good news is there is relief in site. we're at 44 in livermore, 50 at half moon bay and not as cloudy in oakland as as a result, temperatures are quite a bit

chillier out there this morning. this is kind of a cool setup for you. this morning what we're really noticing is a return of those clouds and this area as it continues to get closer and closer. this is going to provide some wind and something else we're seeing this morning, all those clouds, even rushing here in san jose, just painting a spectacular seine rise for you. 46 degrees to kick off the day in san francisco, we're at 46 on the peninsula. regionally temperatures are really mild everywhere except for the north bay. as we get into this afternoon, we'll see another taste of unseasonably warm conditions, running about 10 degrees warmer than average in san jose. getting into your weekend, temperatures continue to drop off. that's good news. if you want to get outdoors, it sill going to be mild enough for

you sunday into monday, temperatures get even cooler. as we head to nks week, temperatures will be right about at average every day. i love showing you this calendar because it has not changed. starting on the 17th it looks like the storm track will return. every day 50% chance or better of getting the much-needed rin reinfall. just as we get into next weekend, storm track comes back with several systems behind it. we need that dip in the jet stream for the moise you're to come into the bay area. the end of the month looking good for more rain. weep keep you updated. hopefully this will maintain. i believe january will be the deciding month on whether we can dig out of a drop this year.
