your phone because if your cell phone goes dead you can't reach out. so this is always a very good classic standby to keep yourself safe. >> all right, dylan, thank you so much. we'll talk to you in a bit. so, let's take a look. as far as snowfall here in new york city, record events, well, the number one storm was february 11-12, 2006. almost 27 inches of snow. the blizzard of 1888, matt and i remember that, 21 inches of snow. what actually constitutes a blizzard? here's what it takes. this is boston also. look at some of these top five amounts. we're looking at that. 27.6 inches. a blizzard defined. we see a blizzard as having more than three hours or more sustained wind and gusts 35 miles per hour, blowing snow, dropping visibility, less than a quarter mile, and we expect that to happen. first of all, we're going to get from 1 to 2, maybe 3 feet of snow from bangor to hartford, boston, new york city.
7:36 am
and we've got coastal flood watches and warnings, why, because as this system winds up, the winds are going to be such a massive problem with this. we have hurricane force wind warnings, just off boston all the way to nantucket. these winds will be really strong, there's going to be a lot of blowing and drifting snow, drifts up to 4 to 5 feet of snow. so coastal flooding, hurricane force wind and heavy snow. it's a bad combination. stay off the roads starting in 7:36. good monday morning to you. i'm meteorologist christina loren. live look at the san francisco bay, beautiful painted sky overhead. look at how pretty you're waking up in point reyes this morning, just spectacular conditions. another beach day if you can get out there. temps will climb into the upper 70s at some of your beaches especially down in santa cruz. we'll hit 67 in san francisco, and 70 degrees in the north bay. as we get into it tomorrow you might need to bring your umbrella south of the golden
