we see this unusual glow to the lights. we have little lows like low clouds and fog right here at 101/680 but not all over the south bay. the maps it's not enough to rentalster on the index to where the arrow points to where the camera was located. little watches going on here and there. looking toward 580, getting onto the freeway at el charo with reports of a crash. clear view also looking by the el charo on-ramp, i don't see any problems with lanes of the freeway. that might be affecting the approach to the on-ramp but the freeway moves smooth into the tri valley. new this morning a group advocating the legalization of safe street racing visited the memorial with the jogger killed during an alleged street race in san jose. >> the group lit candles for kyran pan la onnier ba buena road. on monday she was hit by two

cars believed to have been street racing. the two men charged in that crash didn't even know each other. to a developing story on the medical front, test results for a patient in sacramento who may have ebola could come in as early as this morning. the person showed up to mercy hospital with symptoms of ebola yesterday. that emergency room was sealed shut as a precaution. the patient was then moved to uc davis medical center, also in sacramento. that hospital is better equipped to handle a possible ebola patient. doctors say the patient is considered low risk and is in isolation as they await test results. with he could learn the names of the three american contractors killed by an afghan soldier in ackabul. officials say the shooter opened up fire without warning killing three american contractors and an afghan national. fourth american also injured in that incident. the shooter was then shot and killed. investigators are not releasing the victim's names or the company they worked for, until the victim's families have been

notified. new this morning, music mogul sug knight booked on murder charges in connection with a deadly hit-and-run in southern california. this is new video sug knight outside the los angeles county sheriff's office, bail set at $2 million. the death row records founder is accused of plowing his car into a group of people in compton, this happened yesterday afternoon near a movie shoot. his attorney says knight ran over a friend and killed him while fleeing attackers. knight calls it an accident. second man was also hurt, his condition is not known. today police may release pictures of the man who they think dumped a suitcase filled with human body parts. police found the suitcase wednesday in san francisco near 11th and market streets just a block away from twitter headquarters. other body parts were found scattered nearby. police don't know if the remains are of one victim or several victims. the plan was caught on

surveillance video, but they haven't said whether they know who he actually is. a follow-up to the deadly fire in san francisco, a bar near the building that burned is planning a fund-raiser for the dozens of people who lost everything. on saturday, between 4:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m., half of the proceeds made at doc's clock will go to the victims of the fire. this morning investigators are trying to figure out what caused the fire. 54 people were displaced and many don't know where they're going to live next. >> these people, probably going to be paid out a little but not going to be able to move back. >> i think it's very unfortunate. who is going to reach out an arm to give them a home? >> now today authorities will continue to examine whether safety equipment, including the sprinkler system, has been working properly after reports that access to fire escapes were blocked. happening today, a new round of e-mails are expected to be released, connected to the state's public utilities commission and that relationship

i'm going with seattle. that is my close-up by the way. i'm surprised to see san francisco at number six. i wonder if that will change to santa clara down the road. 65 is a warm temperature this time of year. i want to talk about where we're headed for game day. santa clara is at 70 degrees. 66 in san francisco, and comparable to mission in glendale, airs arizona, they ha partial roof on the stadium. temperatures will be really nice. for us, morning fog making way to a gorgeous afternoon, warmer weekend coming your way but temperatures in the mid-70s if you can get down to big sir, just lovely conditions, and hey that, rain is going to return next week, looks more and more likely every single time i check. i'll show you the latest coming up in my next report. first we have to find out who the man who really knows what's going on, what he thinks. what is your prediction, mike? >> i don't have a dog in this

hunt for the super bowl. so we'll just go for whoever has the best snack food at their party. looking over my shoulder we're trying to find anybody who is winning on the commute right now. there's a light volume so the speeds are okay but just above the roadway there's enough fog where we can't see palo alto on our camera. it doesn't register on the road weather index so it's not likely a problem on the roadway but between the roadway and our cameras, a story or two up, low clouds hovering around. over on the east bay, san leandro we'll call out this issue, earlier crash resulted in repair work that has to go on north 880 at marina boulevard in the fast lane. the center divide and fast lane have work going on, expected until about 7:00 a.m. to fix and clear. that could be a big issue coming off the castro valley y even on a friday. 580 on the right, tiny build out of the altamont, typical pattern

welcome back. live look outside right now on this super bowl weekend, as we get ready to kickstart your friday. real estate agents have become the new door-to-door salesmen of silicon valley going around neighborhoods urging people to sell high. it's the halo effect of apple's new campus in cupertino. realtors are canvassing neighborhoods near the campus asking people if they would like to sell. many have wealthy clients who work for apple willing to fay a couple hundred thousand dollars over asking price. realtors say inventory is extremely low for homes in walking distance to that campus. >> i've got a couple of clients

unemployment. we get reports on employment costs, manufacturing and consumer sentiment and the first look at fourth quarter gdp which should show the economy grew thanks to lower gas prices which spurs consumers to spend. the dow raising 225 poents to 17,416, the nasdaq up 45 to 4683. new study finds nearly half of u.s. households are exhausting their income and savings to meet their annual expenses. average expenses including housing and health care are up 6% in the past 30 years to $58,000, if a typical household went through a period without a job or income they'd exhaust their savings in about three weeks. some americans are literally sleeping on their cash, a report by american express finds 29% are keeping some savings and cash, bills and coins, of those half are hiding it in a secret location, probably under the mattress and the freezer or a sock drawer. about one in four consumers anticipate a financial emergency

>> i'm going to take this one right over here and leave you two. temperatures 54 degrees in san francisco, 44 degrees in the tri valley and 48 degrees on the peninsula. something we can all get excited about, the prospect of rain on the horizon, looking really good. i'm going to show you my two most reliable futurecast models say and give you my best assessment. for now we have gorgeous weather continuing into your weekend and things start to change as of next week, finally winter comes back. it's been feeling like spring. 65 degrees in san francisco today. look at the north bay temps, 72 degrees today, and you'll climb into the mid-70s in the north bay as we head into your weekend, and then temperature also gradually ease sunday into monday, back to the upper 60s, not bad and then by tuesday, clouds increase, bull here's what we're talking about, first i'm going to go through the timing what have we're expecting thursday night into friday we start to get a good looking storm system and i love seeing the yellows, the oranges, even the reds out there, on your futurecast model, stop that

clock for you at 11:00 p.m. on friday, starting to get pretty active. the rain will continue throughout the weekend and basically until early monday morning, but let me kind of show you what the models are hinting at, at this point. now this is what we call the european model and this is the model that blew it over there on the east coast which is why they shut down the city and didn't get the snowfall they were expecting. the european model is usually pretty reliable. this says we'll get over three-quarters of an inch in san jose and over an inch and a quarter in napa, almost two inches in santa rosa. let me show you the one that i truly believe in, the american model. this is the gfs and look at what this thing brings in, as we head into next week, friday, just friday alone, three-quarters of an inch in ukiah. i let that run, holy toledo! five inches of rain in the forecast for ukiah monday morning, two for napa and two inches for us here in san jose. i really got to be very careful

because we're still days off from the system but i think we're likely going to get at least a half an inch right here in san jose, could get an inch and a half if everything times out just right and the storm system tracks, well we think it's going to right now but these are the kind of numbers we need. we need a system like this and the good news is, we head into the first couple weeks of february, the storm track stays to the south. more coming up and a close look at what else is going on this weekend. we'll take you to wine country and show you what's happening at the beaches. back to you, sam and kris. in the wake of the measles outbreak linked to disneyland, some pediatricians are taking a stand refusing to see kids whose parents will not get them vaccinated. one doctor in l.a. says he doesn't want to put other kids in his office at risk. the american academy of pediatrics has discouraged the practice of foregoing vaccines but the academy says]cx causes an unworkable relationship, doctors can encourage vaccine gh

to another physician. rescuers in mexico are gas explosion that destroyed a children's hospital in mexico city. this explosion yesterday killed a nurse and two babies inside of the hospital. it's less than the seven originally reported dead. more than 70 folks were still injured, several unaccounted for. mexico's president visited injured mothers able to grab their kids and escape from a hospital. gas tank truck was making a routine delivery. here's what happened to the hospital kitchen when the gas started to leak. people began evacuating the hospital when the truck suddenly ignited. one of the men who beat giants fan brian stowe will spend more time in prison. luis sanchez pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition. sanchez and marvin norwood admitted last year to beating brian stowe in the parking lot of dodgers stadium in 2011. authorities discovered the

weapons while serving a search warrant on norwoods ahome during the investigation. norwood pleaded guilty to the same weapons charge. sanchez serving eight years in prison for the stowe beating case. he is expected now to get ten more years for this latest charge. criminals not always known for their intellect. coming up next it could be another case of dumb criminals, how two men ended up under arrest after calling for an uber. the san mateo bridge, traffic took a stutter there but moving smoothly. there are low clouds here and fog throughout other parts of the bay you might not expect, we'll show you that coming up.

welcome back. 4:55 right now. traffic stop for an uber driver in southern california ended with his passengers under arrest. >> who were those passengers you might wonder? sheriffs deputies in thousand oaks say the two passengers in the car were carrying a lot of weed and on their way to a drug deal. deputies first pulled over the uber driver for a vehicle code violation. they then discovered a quarter pound of marijuana in the back seat. two passengers were arrested on controlled substance charges. deputies say the driver was not involved in the drug offense but this does give a new meaning to the term drug trafficking. now moving along. >> 4:55 right now. speaking of a different kind of traffics, mike inouye, good morning. >> good morning.

that was clever. looking over my shoulder here, glowing lights and what we typically use as one of our main sources of light at this time of the morning, the large advertising sign right by ikea is dimly lit in the middle, that's how much low cloud cover is going on here at university. we don't usually see this issue for drivers. speeds close to the limit and there's a light volume of tro k traffic you're okay around most of the bay. we're zooming in toward san francisco and looking at north 101 approaching the 280 interchange. fender bender over to the shoulder and fog in the north bay. keeping an eye on that for anyone whose super bowl partying gets the worst of them, aaa wants to make sure they do not get behind the wheel of a car. as it does on other festive nights, aaa is offering its tipsy tow program. it provides a free tow home after the game for up to ten miles, the offer is good for drivers and their vehicles along with any passengers who fit safely in the tow truck no
