bay strip mall. >> we are near the intersection of king and tully. is the fire there out? >> reporter: good morning to you both, we can tell you that they have made very quick work of this fire here at a strip mall on south king road. we can show you that fire crews are still on here on the scene, but the flames are out, and the fire appears to have been contained to just one room in one of those businesses there at the strip mall. battalion chief tells me it appears it was a massage parlor of some sort and though it was contained, they think there's going to be some pretty heavy water damage for that business. the other businesses though, there's a travel agency next door and there's a dental business as well as other businesses. those are going to be okay. and those should be able to open today, no problem. the roadway just about ready to reopen up. fire crews and engines were blocking the way for just a bit, but like i said, made quick work, the ladder still up on the

roof making sure there are no hot spots. for now it appears the danger is over. reporting live in san jose, kris sanchez, "today in the bay." 4:42 -- >> just flying. >> sounds beautiful. >> moving right along as it is. >> let's look at the weather right now and the microclimate forecast. >> good morning to you guys. the good news is we have rain on the way, another storm system making it's way to the bay area, just after we saw one move through on saturday. this is good news. we definitely need the rain. you'll notice, it's not a whole lot. a lot of the activity fell towards north california and eureka. as the day progresses, this day will move through. 4:00, 5:00, that's when most will pop up and it'll die down quickly. you'll notice the highs going to be cool today. just like it has been over the past couple of days, low 60s, and pop up thunderstorms this afternoon. best chance for thunderstorms

south bay and east bay, everybody else will see just plain old rain. we'll talk about how much, how long this stuff is expected to last and if there's anymore rain in the future. let's talk about that morning drive now and toss things over to mike inn know way. we're looking over here towards the golden gate bridge. traffic flows nicely across the span. there is a crash into san francisco. not from the north side. you're driving in from san rafael and marin county, it is from the peninsula northbound 101. we've seen a little more slowing, moving better now, there's a crash involving three vehicles northbound along the third street off-ramp. and one of them was in lanes. no major injuries on the initial report. couple of traffic reports were run over the last few minutes. i'll track that, the rest of your freeways are moving nicely, back tow you. we have developing news this morning. isis is threatening twitter. twitter says it's working with law enforcement to investigate an isis-related threat to the company. it was posted to an anonymous

website based in poland. it called on jihadist around the world to kill twitter's co-founder and employees because of the company's frequent blocking of their social media accounts. the post was accompanied by additionally altered image of twitter. the co-founder in the cross sights of the gun. police in livermore think they may have their man. officers made an arrest after a deadly double shooting in a normally peaceful neighborhood. bob redell live from the liverpool police department. this is the first homicide since 2012. >> reporter: you are correct. police are hopefully give us more information as far as what led up to the shooting. good morning, news conference scheduled later this morning at 9:00 here at lir more police headquarters where the department will update us on yesterday's double homicide in what took place in a usually safe part of the town. police telling us this happened around 4:30 yesterday afternoon in the street. this is on winding screen.

this is right next to the elementary school and right there by a park where kids were playing. according to police, there was a verbal argument. then several gunshots. when officers responded, they found two men lying in the street. one man died on the scene. the other at the hospital. both again from gunshot wounds. the shooter had taken off in a car. it was around 9:00 last night, few hours after the shooting that police arrested the suspect. a man who was also in his 20s. >> at this the point we believe it's one suspect. and that it was related to -- that they knew each other. what the relationship is, we don't know for sure. >> it's kind of nerve racking. really, really close to home. >> reporter: police did find a gun near the scene. they tell us that the men involved both the victim and the shooter were not associated with that neighborhood in altamont creek, but did not elaborate. we hope for clarification later

this morning during the news conference on 9:00 on what is this city's first homicide in three years. reporting live in livermore, bob redell, too"today in the bay." thank you. chp says severe driving may have triggered a head-on crash that killed four people. happened on freedom boulevard near valencia road. the sedan carrying seven people slammed into a pickup truck going in the other direction. three passengers in the sedan and the driver died. the chp says alcohol or drugs may have played a role in the crash. oakland police are offering a $20,000 reward for help catching the person who shot and killed a 14-year-old boy. that victim walked with friends on brookdale avenue in the fruitvale neighborhood when someone shot at him. the department is doing everything possible to track double the shooter. police released a sketch of a man wanted for flashing an 11-year-old girl.

it happened last week as a girl walked her dog near bryant avenue. the man exposed himself while sitting in a newer black hatchback with tinted rear windows. he's described as a white man in his mid-30s to 40s with a medium build and short, dark hair with a goatee. investigators are working to link this incident to four others that happened in the area last october. in three of the cases, the victims were girls between 10 to 14 years old. one of two men charged in a deadly street racing crash in san jose expected in court today. investigators say the two cars lost control hitting and killing this 24-year-old. that was in january. one of the drivers, an 18-year-old, pleaded not guilty to manslaughter charges. the other driver, a 24-year-old man is expected to enter a plea today. 4:37, san jose officer accused of rape and assault heads to court today. officer jeffrey grey will attend a preliminary hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to try him for rape. investigators say grey's raped

undocumented woman for called for police help in september of 2013. he faces up to 12 years in prison if he's convicted of the rape at two separate incidents of domestic violence. pinal woman being treated for being attacked by a pit bull. biting her in the legs, arms, and face. her injuries so severe, she was flown to the trauma center in walnut creek for advanced treatment. another person also examined for injuries, but would not elaborate. >> there was a lot of fire trucks, cop cars, ambulance, and then animal control. truck showed up. >> one neighbor told us they have a large gray pit bull that's kept mostly in the backyard. the services has taken the dog, which is currently in quarantine. just what they needed, ski

resorts got fresh powder over the weekend and a lot of it. a lot fell this weekend. resort officials say yesterday was the busiest day they've had since december. with more snow on the way later this week, they're hoping they can say the same thing next weekend. good news. >> yes, it is. now no snow in san jose -- >> hail. >> yeah. >> anthony joining us now, you're tracking rain here, good morning. >> rocking down out of the north, it's going to move over the bay area like the one on saturday. the potential for more thunderstorms is in the forecast for today. i don't think we're going to see as much hail, the core will not move over the bay, just over the coast. we may see stormy coastal waters later on this morning, but overall, it's not going to happen here in the bay area until this afternoon. really about 11:00 this morning until about 3:00, 4:00 this afternoon. then we'll be done with the showery activity. slight delays this morning, otherwise the showers and

thunderstorms, those will roll through as we head through this afternoon. and then return of 70s as we head towards the latter part of the week into the weekend. beach planning, there you go. if you want to look at the future cast. we to want show you the rain drops that are going to form. here's what i was talking about, moving through about 11:00 this morning. you can see a lot of the activity off the coast. not taking the brunt of the storm like saturday, down in san jose, about 11:00, we will see a few thunderstorms popping up, even over towards livermore as well. these are going to be very fast dumping storms that are going to produce a lot of heavy rain, but they're going to be gone just like that. by 4:00, pretty much out of here. really, about the middle part of the day, that's the time to watch for the shower showers and thunderstorms that will develop. not a complete washout. sunshine and cloud cover, and then the rain will fall and we'll get more sun. you'll notice the temperatures will be cool today. back into the low 60s. as i was mentioning, things are on the way. thursday, we're talking about 70s back in san jose. the tri-valley, you'll be back

up to 72 on friday. and 70s do last until the weekend. we'll talk about how much they'll dump. in the meantime, let's go to mike. >> we'll see what's going on there. over here at the golden gate bridge, getting ready ready to divide. bigger issue on the map, look at the city itself, moving smoothly, but getting there a bigger issue. north 101, crash i told you about, there's a diesel spill on the connecter blocking it north 101 connecting to north 280. heading over towards the ball park area. that'll be an issue. chp does not know when they'll reopen. this could be a long-standing issue for the morning commute. this is a big problem in that area. we'll track that. meanwhile, everywhere, accept for getting into san francisco is moving smoothly. widen out, show you the tri-valley and south bay with the typical build. we'll show you the tri-valley itself, dublin, no problem, just the westbound commute, back to you.

. you're watching "today in the bay." it is 4:44, monday morning, a robbery call turned into a deadly officer-involved shooting in los angeles's skid row. yesterday officers got into a struggle with a homeless man believed to be the suspect. they first used a stun gun, but it didn't work. officers then say the man tried to grab one of their guns. that's when police opened fire killing the man. an investigation is under way. 85 amtrak passengers walked away unscathed after the train slammed into an empty car stopped in the middle of the tracks. this happened last night on a stretch of track in venture ra county. investigators say two people abandoned their vehicle before the train ran into it. nobody was hurt. now this train crash happened miles away from last week's metro link crash. 4:45 in dallas, a nurse who survived ebola is now suing her

katie couric. tweeted out a photo of herself along with a hashtag. >> bumming it like everybody else. >> what do you do? >> we've all been through that. >> buy a magazine, cup of co. fee, and sit through it. we saw snows ourselves in tahoe over the weekend. joining us now in for kristina this morning. >> shower activity across the bay area this weekend is actually a .10 inch of rain, not a whole lot, but we got some snow. we have a storm system moving in as we speak. it's not here right now, and really it's not going to be here in this morning. the main brunt will arrive this afternoon. so, the first half of the day we'll start off dry, but we have lots of low clouds out there as the storm is moving through. now the core of the storm system will pass just to the west of san francisco bay. and which you'll find, as it does, thunderstorm activity pop up just like on saturday. but, 8:00 still most of us first

band of shower activity will start then. bringing the thunderstorms to life by then. san jose, and over in livermore, now the thing about it again, the core will be off the coast, that's where we'll see more of the con vektive weather, every now and then, thunderstorm that'll pop up across the valley and that could produce heavy rain, but in a short amount of time, no flash flooding, but like on saturday, moves in and out, then the sun comes back out. temperatures today are going to be cool, without a doubt with the cold area of low pressure. 65 for the north bay. 62 for san francisco today, and 63 for the south bay. and again, those showers and thunderstorms are expected by about 11:00, and then they'll die down by about 4:00, 5:00 this evening. not a lot of rain expected. just about a tenth of an inch at most. whatever it does form will be very fast-moving. it does have the potential to bringing down heavy rain and the potential of some lightning and thunder, especially about 11:00 this morning into 4:00 this afternoon. we'll talk about that long range

you're watching "today in the bay." the freezing temperatures on the east coast have frozen over one of the biggest rivers in the country. check this out. this is what the hudson river looks like in pennsylvania kip si, new york, right now. only a narrow channel can be seen. just enough for tug boats and ice breakers to try to make it through. don't try any larger vessels though. speaking of frozen, or at least near frozen, number of celebrities took a polar plunge

over the weekend. >> lady gaga and her fiance joined thousands in the icy waters of lake michigan for the 15th annual chicago polar plunge. kinney is on nbc's "chicago fire." other celebrities include vince vaughn, you see him there. the event raises money for special olympics. fire and ice on that morning. and to another good cause now, hundreds of new yorkers shaved it all off to raise money for st. bald ring's foundation. 560 people showed up yesterday to shave off all their hair. the pub raised more than $3 million for pediatric cancer research since it started hosting that event some 11 years ago. >> even little ones there too. >> irish flavor there too. green hair in the mix. i don't think we're going to see any experimentation from our standpoint. mike, green hair? >> yellow, blond, orangish-blue hair, but not green. >> really? >> yes, those were my younger days when i wasn't worried about
