answer some questions. we have reports of shots fired. police were told someone was shot and they say someone was found shot a short distance from where we are. we're on sandwood. it is heavy police presence. some roads are closed. probably not affected part of your commute because it is in a residential area. sorry to dash away, we don't have a lot of dae taetails for right now but we're going to get them. now to a developing story this morning, the santa clara sheriff's department forming a multiagency task fort to track down an escaped inmate. he escaped during a doctor's visit on friday. investigators believe he broke into a nearby apartment complex, changed clothing, and left

before officers arrived. he is accused of child molestation. a woman who says she was raped by an on duty san jose police officer. jeffrey graves faces up to 12 years in prison if he is convicted. he could also be hit with more serious charges, too. he is accused of rapeing a woman in 2013. >> at 49ers player in trouble with the law. bruce miller was arrested for domestic violence. the bay bridge. they're blowing their whistle saying watch out. now there is the east shore freeway hovering right below the cloud deck. onramps there say there is a disabled vehicle that is a roadway hazard. no lanes are reported blocked, but the lower visibility is causing a concern. the orange highlighted for both sides of the bridge. that's where our weather data on the index themselves. we saw it just from time to time. we're looking over toward the tri-valley and no major concern there. that is closer to the water that we have been talking about. now behind me you see that slow down coming off of the 205.

in an hour. secretary of state hillary clinton may address her e-mail controversy as easy -- early as today. yes, they worry if she goes too long without speaking she could look guilty. she had a private e-mail and only a private e-mail to conduct business while secretary of state. but, the bigger questions are these three, one, why did she do that if she was assigned a standard state department e-mail to use. two, the server than ran it was apparently in her house, although that is not for sure, how secure was it? and three, clinton says she

melissa meyers. there is lots of stories about the time when they missed buying google or missed buying linked in or facebook. they were this close to buying facebook and they didn't. meyers is looking for big scores to put yahoo back on the map. they want her to run it like a business. like i said, perfectly reasonable. >> facebook, that would have been a pretty good investment, i guess. >> it was a debate over a couple million dollars. they missed the price by a couple million dollars. it is 5:17 right now. hundreds of people rallied on the peninsula in hopes of saving municipal housing. they want the city to ratify $8 million in affordable funds to go towards preserving the mobile home park.

the owners of the park want to sell it. they are one of the last rent controlled properties and preserving it would help low income families. >> are you planning a trip down to disneyland? they will be closing the exhibit hall at the end of the month. they have not announced what might replace that exhibit, but several newspapers say that more star wars attractions are coming to the park. >> and star wars is so big with a whole new generation of fans. >> yes, we're all living a bit of a fantasy sometimes, christina, are you a star wars fan? >> i am. temperatures out there are nice and comfortable. a lot of families thinking about summer vacation plans down to disneyland. we're looking pretty good.

crash as it happened. a train plowed into a big rig. the truck driver got stop after trying to make a difficult turn. only one person had serious injuries. a different kind of warning about e cigarettes. a southern california man had to be treated for burns to his fate after an electronic cigarette he was smoking in bed blew up. officials say it was modified, but they did not say how. we have new details now and video made public for the first time. in court yesterday, prosecutors showed the jury surveillance video from a whole foods. he casually is shopping for milk

in the dairy section about 25 minutes after the explosion at the finish line. later that night he hung out and partied with his friends. >> two young children credited with saving their younger brother from a kidnapper. it was all caught on camera. a map started talking to an 8-year-old girl at a park. he suddenly snatched the girl's 2-year-old brother from the stroller and took off running. the man is shown running down the street with a baby in his arms. moments later you see the little girl chasing after her and the little brother following her. >> police caught up with the man a short time later. the toddler was not hurt. the three kids were staying with a baby sitter and were left

east as well. a live look outside this morning. no issues on the san jose time line. you're watching "today in the bay." >> this is "today in the bay." >> thank you for joining us. i'm laura garcia-cannon. police on the lookout for two gunmen. >> kris sanchez is live, what did you learn? >> considering the shooting happened about an hour ago and the investigation is still lively, we can tell you that a 22-year-old man is in the hospital in surgery right now, and they're hoping that he will pull through. he has a gunshot wound to his heart, face, and his abdomen as well.

it happened as he and two friends were sitting outside of their apartment in san jose. the two friends of the victim tell police that a small silver sedan pulled up and they got out. the unusual part is they were wearing black bandannas, perhaps met to conceal their identities. there is -- our officers responsed to the scene and found one 22-year-old adult on the ground with injuries to his face and abdomen area. he has suffered three gunshot wounds. one to the heart, one to the abdomen, and one to the face. >> while we were out here, we

saw officers canvassing the neighborhood. looking to see if there might be home surveillance video that shows what might have happened during that confrontation. police also looking for bullet casings around. they don't know how the two parties knew each other, and they say when they had have a more specific decision they will pass it on. they say this is a high density area. it is not one of their high profile areas, they don't get a lot of calls out here. and the three young men were sitting on a bench drinking with one another, but they could have just gotten off work. we don't know yet. when we have more details we will bring them to you. kris sanchez, today in the bay. in the meantime, police are investigating a separate shooting. this happened around 9:30 last

night. just a few blocks south of downtown. one man is in serious condition at a local hospital right now. it's the same intersection where a man was shot and killed saturday morning as well. another man injured in that shooting. police have not made any arrests in either case. it is 5:33, bryce miller is in trouble with the law. he was arrested for domestic violence. >> bob rendell joins us now. he joins a handful of other teammates that also face off of the field legal troubles. good morning. >> good morning, bruce miller becomes the 11th 49er to be arrested since 2012. he was arrested on suspicion of spousal abuse. he has since been released from

the woman at the center of the silicone valley actual harassment lawsuit will be on the stand again today. she says they debating porn stars and talked about the hotness of yahoo ceo marisa meyer. the santa clara water district will look at a rate hike today. they want to raise rates as much as 30% because of the drought. with people con serving more during the drought they're selling less and losing millions. they're talking about similar rate hikes. >> kind of tough, you want to save water, but it is costing you more money. the rain is undoubtedly going to be free. let's get more on that.

west. not a problem of visibility through the tri-valley. we'll have a little slowing showing up out of our sensors. a little fog registering. that would show up as orange highlighting. we'll show you where that is. in the bay area, a little build northbound on the 101 in san jose, a typical pattern here. the orange up here, north of the bay bridge, and the east bay and the north bay especially patchy and fog there. the clouds are not a major concern, but there are patches of fog, you need to be safe. still ahead, republican senators sending a letter to iran warning the country about making a deal with president obama. plus warning labels for cigarettes and alcohol ads, what about soda.

is calling it a like lly hoax. mark lipert saying he will not change his open style after being attacked by a man last week. he needed 80 stitches. the man who attacked him faces attempted murder charges. last friday, a police officer in madison shot and killed an unarmed 19-year-old. last night, some of the city's websites were targeted in the hack including law enforcement sites. similar attacks involve other law enforcement officers in other shootings. >> a new fallout now in ferguson, missouri this is after last week's scathing reports. they will take over operations in ferguson's municipal court.

they assigned a state judge to restore the integrity of the system. they launched their probe of ferguson after the shooting of michael brown. >> and then there were two, two competing plans for a football stage, not three. a.e.g. is dropping their plans after issues a report of security risks. two other plans are still moving forward. one is the raiders and chargers joint stadium, and the other is a stadium in englewood. a cry for help from the american red cross. they say the freeding temperatures and mounting snow in other parts of the u.s. is causing blood supplies to run low. they have canceled hundreds of blood drives across 27 different states. >> it is 5:46 right now.

it is kind of foggy in a lot of spots. >> yes, we have danger of fog developing out there. thank you for waking up with us each and every day. one of those mornings you don't want to waste any time. get off of the internet if you're doing that and get out that front door. the fog will likely slow you down this morning. we have dangerous conditions developing out there. so dangerous that they issue add dense fog advisory. the fog is drifting around, so right now the visibility is not that bad. we're down to a quarter mile in concord. in napa half a mile. and the fog will only get worse before it gets better. you can see in half moon bay, three quarters of a mile is all you have available to you. and in gilroy that is dropping off as well. you have a nice looking second

half of the day coming your way and showers move in by tomorrow. 52 in san jose. you will notice the low clouds will clear out and high clouds will start to stream in. overcast sky, trading those out for high, thin clouds later on today. temps in the mid 60s today. 70s for most of us. with the exclusion of the east shore and san francisco, you will only get to the upper 60s for today. temperatures look good in the next couple days. a big drop off from today to tomorrow and the numbers will be back up by the end of the week. let's talk showers. taking you to the 11:00 a.m. tomorrow. you can see showers widespread at that point. free car wash and watering of your lawn as well. then things start to lighten up a little bit.

all of that moisture going off to tahoe where we really need it. it is a cold front if will drop to about 7,000 feet, 6500 in the morning hours on thursday morning. everything clears out and we're setting up for more high pressure to warm us up into the first part of your weekend. 75 in the south bay today, down to 65 tomorrow, thursday into friday, temperatures starting to climb yet again. look at saturday, we're into the 80s here in the south bay, and those numbers crash again on sunday. overall, a quick up of a quarter of an inch in the south bay, we'll talk more about that sunday system coming up. you have to work for it though, here is mike to help you get there safely. >> we're getting through this back up, here are the low clouds. there is the back up, and

very much. san francisco verse the soda industry round two. the legislatures looking to include warnings for ads in fran. cautions consumers about obesity and diabetes. >> stephanie, this would be the first any where in the country. >> that's right. it would be the first if it can succeed, much the way you see warnings for alcohol and tobacco products. you would see the labels on surgery drinks for diabetes, obesity, and tooth decay. they are introducing the legislation today that would fine retailers $1,000 if after 30 days notice they don't take down advertising that has the warning labels. there is another movement to ban

the advertising on a state property. the state industry groups say say this demonizing the soda industry. you might remember last innovate a soda tax initiative failed. it got 55% of the vote, falling short of the two thirties necessary. that would leverage a tax, it passed in berkeley. the bay area making waves here. again, the supervisors will introduce legislation today. live in san francisco this morning, stephanie chuang. >> thanks, steph. 5:52 right now, the senate will take the issue of medical marijuana on this morning.

they aim to reclassify marijuana under federal law. right now they consider it a drug with no medical value. if it is reclassified it will be recognized for medicinal benefits. they will announce that bill this morning. what value is the apple watch? that is the question. an apple analyst was asked about whether the watch will be a hit. >> many bet that it will be. there is a few who say they just cannot see the appeal. tim cook updated the world on monday. this was very unusual for apple. the watch was unveiled last september and this is the second time we have seen it. it will be available for preorder on april 10th. what we didn't hear was an example of what gives the watch something that the phone doesn't already have. okay, it is a fitness band, but

is it just a small screen of a phone that you have already paid for. it lets you open your hotel room door, but you can already do that with your phone. we did not see an app where we said oh, that is why you need an apple watch. happenle shares sank a little bit. markets were covered a little bit on monday. 15 years ago today, the nasdaq hit their highest point of all time, and i don't know if you remember what happened, down 70%. 70. but the glass half full kind of feeling, we're back. 5:54 right now. there seems to be an app for everything including a way to
