road. we're talking about just west of harbor street to just shy of l street also from the new york slew south to about highway 4. it's very early. there was an incident that could impact people with respiratory sensitivities. most people will not be affected, but you may feel an eye, skin, nose or throat irritation. you're told to go inside and rinse that part of your body with water so, far, they have not responded to any medical calls related to this plant incident. back here live, you can see this is the plant here right now. we know they process agriculture products. equipment herein includes reactors, storage tanks, combustion devices. i have been in touch with people who work here at dow.

the new day. almost 60 degrees right now in san jose. temperatures will be much cooler today. we have on shore flow. for us, that means it's going to be very comfortable. >> i did this morning, christina. warmer than i was used to. look over here toward the bridge. coming toward us, those headlights are eastbound. until about 30 seconds ago, a crew waiting to appear on camera and then took off. the construction crew clearing from eastbound. a little slowing westbound. so far, no big issues off of 92 itself. your bay looks really good. highway 4 where we're talking about the issues, there's no affect to your traffic on the freeway. back to you guys. we move now to new developments on the plane crash in the french alps.

german police made a significant discovery in the co-pilot's home. they're not saying what they found, a german tabloid is saying andreas lubitz was once treated for depression. they took what appeared to be a large computer along with several other items from that house. they're now testing something that they say might be a significant clue. the german tabloid reports he spent a year and a half in psychiatric treatment for what's described as a serious depressive episode. some of that time was during his training six years ago. he received certification as a co-pilot in september of 2013. helu accumulated a little ove0 hours total of flying time. no criminal record or known terrorist connections. >> the search for bodies and evidence is meticulous.

nbc news learned there are 30 forensic experts at a command post near the crash site. helicopters are dropping teams of two in the area to help recover anything that might identify victims. 150 people died in that crash. it is forcing airlines around the world to rethink cockpit procedures. here, a flight attendant comes in until the pilot returns. however, some leading european budget airlines are now implementing a two-person minimum when any plane is airborne. that including norwegian air, easyjet and air canada. we'll follow the story all morning long for you. we'll have a live update at the top of the hour. also, the "today show" will have live reports from the area.

san jose will come together today to honor an officer killed in the line of duty. members of the community can come together to grieve and also to reflect. that e ent will start at noon. tonight, there will be a candle light vigil for officer michael johnson. police say the suspect who killed johnson died moments after the shooting. johnson's partner managed to return fire and kill the suspect. the officer is a 16-year veteran of the force. lawyers for a man and woman involved in that alleged kidnap for ransom case insist their clients are telling the truth. denise huskins left the police department yesterday shielded by detectives after six hours of questioning. her boyfriend called police monday saying huskins had been kidnapped for ransom by force. now police are questioning that

claim. they insist their clients are the victims of a terrible climb. >> very quickly threw under the bus. they threw it on here. in fact, there's no egg here whatsoever. this was a legitimate crime. >> he was not only bound up, he was drugged. one of the things he did voluntarily was give a blood test so that the police could confirm that the kidnappers drugged him. >> on wednesday, police called the kidnapping claim an orchestrated event. san jose police have arrested a man accused of viciously beating a teen at valley fair mall. detectives say he beat up a teen earlier this month. they say the attack might have been part of a gang initiation it left the 16-year-old unconscious and seriously hurt. he is still in the hospital. a violent confrontation

caught on camera is leading to questions about the downtown berkeley ambassador program. we have to warn you that the video may be disturbing to some viewers. it shows an ambassador repeatedly punching a pan during a heated exchange. they're supposed to ask them to just move along. they say this kind of violence is out of line. >> clearly unacceptable and egregious behavior that cannot be tolerated. >> the downtown association fired the man and suspended his female partner. they plan to increase training for those ambassadors. one of two men accused of sexually assaulting a drunk taxi cab passenger is going to court today. investigators say the woman woke up, sekhon was allegedly on top of her. now the cab's driver is also accused of sexually assaulting

the woman. he appeared in court earlier this week, but did not enter a plea. people who live in one north bay community may learn today if a convicted sex offender will be allowed to move into their neighborhood. it was heated as you might imagine. that's where the sex offender frazier smith is petitioning to be released into a home in their neighborhood. he's been out of prison for four decades. the family of the late robin williams is now locked up in a court battle. the dispute is between williams' three children and his wife susan. their arguing over who should get williams' home and the belongings inside of it. that case is set for monday. you mentioned that we maybe even had to use the air conditioner on the way to work. that's what mike was saying. >> definitely. i don't know.

i am an electric crew foreman out of the cupertino service center. i was born and raised in the cupertino area. it's a fantastic area to work. the new technology that we are installing out in the field is important for the customers because system reliability i believe is number one. pg&e is always trying to plan for the future and we are always trying to build something stronger and bigger and more reliable. i love living here and i love the community i serve. nobody wants to be without power. i don't want my family to be without power. it's much more personal to me for that reason. i don't think there's any place i really would rather be.

building explosion and fire in new york city's east village. our nbc station in new york is reporting that one person is missing. but the fire and police departments are not confirming that. 19 people are confirmed injured. four of them are critically injured. people in the building called it terrifying. it happened about 3:00 yesterday afternoon. and the smoke poured out from the initial blast, people ran for their lives. flames jumped to two more wi buildings. >> preliminary evidence suggests a gas-related explosion. that investigation is ongoing. >> work crews were installing a new gas meter moments before that explosion. the secret service is tightening its rules for employees and alcohol use. it comes as this video released showing two agents hitting a

barricade outside the white house. the agents allegedly had been drinking at a nearby bar. this week, they announced staff members are not allowed to drive government cars within ten hours of consuming alcohol. this is the first plan ever by the federal government to tackle super bugs. tens of thousands of people die every year because they contract bacteria that is resistant to antibiotics. the government wants to reduce the number of super bug infections through diagnostic tools and improving the way we use antibiotics. some new comments by massachusetts senator elizabeth warren have some political donors upset this morning. we're live from cnbc world headquarters with all the details. >> hey, sam, that's right. wall street banks are so upset with the calls to break them up

that they're considering withholding campaign donations to democrats in protest. they have discussed the matter, but the banks aren't coordinating the action. any move here would be symbolic as they can only donate a maximum of $16,000 each. the markets will look to break a four-day losing streak today. oil prices are lower today, around $50 a barrel after notching their biggest one-day gain in a month on worry saudi air strikes in yemen could disrupt supplies in the middle east. the country sits on a crucial waterway that handles about 4 million barrels of crude per day. the nasdaq down 13 to 4863. sam, over to you. >> all over the world this morning. thank you very much. have a great weekend. >> i was wondering --

father. inmates claim four deputies forced them to fight and even placed bets on the outcome. one inmate says he was offered a cheese burger if he won the fight. the sheriff believes the allegations are true. >> actually, i do believe that. i think that the thin blue line sometimes extends into prisons and jails. >> a law firm claiming to represent the deputies calls the fights just playful wrestling and says there were never bets placed. another california county is banning plastic bags. as of this morning you'll need to bring your own bag to businesses in unincorporated monterrey county. restaurants are exempt from the ban. a chinese restaurant is going the extra mile to prove a bad yelp review is wrong. they did some investigating after a customer gave them a
