6:46 am
me right there. this of course is only something the players are going to see but this morning they were kind enough to let us inside so you can get an idea of what it looks like. they haven't really done anything as far as increasing the square footage. it's the same location of the old clubhouse but it's much spiffier, new carpet, new lockers. more personal space is what you can say is the future for the players. and you've got to believe they've earned it after winning the world series three times over just the past five years. and soon the fans will notice a difference. this is something you will notice as you're coming into the park. it's going to start to feel like airport security. major league baseball new requires that every person entering into venues including at&t to be screened with a wand, magnetic wand. it's designed to improve supreme court by. you've got everyone being screened like that the lines can get really long if thousands of people try to get through the gate. to help alleviate that backup the giants are testing clear that would allow prescreened
6:47 am
fans to zip through. you might recognize the clear name. the same company and technology the tsa uses for prescreening of passengers at ten airports. >> there will be a setup for clear. and the people that are designated can walk up andfinge will come up that they've been prescreened and they will be able to walk through. >> reporter: the giants have already won a lottery to select 300 season ticket holders to use the clear lane. to be eligible that person had to submit their driver's license and fingerprints in advance. the clear lanes will go into affect may 1st at the willie mays gate. here we are at a lovely opening day where the temperatures are starting to warm up. you've a beautiful view of what they've got here. opening week here, at&t park, where the giants are going to try to make it six world series in six years, i guess --

6:49 am
hes to s ttosses it around. >> the giants have a few new options. the seem going to be offering an oreo churro. texture of a churro but taste of oreo and kettle corn cheddar. >> just outside the park, the yard at mission rock is a pop-up village made out of recycled shipping containers. it's the home of food, shopping, community events. inside one of the giants parking lots. larry baer says this is just the beginning of something great. >> the yard is going to morph into a permanent retail. over the next few years you will see a tremendous development that's going to be exciting for the community, for our neighbors. it's going to be really a whole new neighborhood. >> over time baer wants the yard to become a brand neighborhood with residential
6:50 am
and work spaces to go along with the retail. just a week into the season and the giants are dealing with a string of injuries that it looks like most of the players are on road to recovery. >> good news. cas casey. >> travis is also getting closer to a return. he's currently rehabbing in the minors covering from some back issue. >> meantime, pitching matt cain on the dl right now with an arm strain to start the season. no word on his return. as far as we know, he's yet to pick up a baseball. >> and the giants are hoping to get hunter pence back in may. that will depend on how his full arm is healing. you may recall he broke it during spring training. we wish him well. >> heart and soul of the team right there. we are out here on the field obviously. it's a little chilly. a little windy to start your day. >> i would say just a little bit. we'll see where that takes the ball later this afternoon. hoping pitch, 1:35. right now christina has a look at the forecast for us. >> i sure do.
