in the area in red from nebraska to southern texas over across the gulf coast, this is where we could see an isolated tornado. we still have the threat of heavy downpours and some large hail and damaging wind gusts. tomorrow an area in orange in little rock and jackson, mississippi and northern louisiana. that is where we will see winds up near 65 miles per hour hail 2 inches in diameter and the possibility of a tornado. with the heavy pockets of rain, we could see an additional 3 to 4 inches of rain in the heavy downpours. we have an additional 3 to 6 inches of snow in the ski resorts where we picked up 3 to 4 feet of snow. the ski season continues out in the denver area out in the rockies and rain continues all week across the gulf coast. >> can't catch a break. thank you, dylan. here is other news now to the race for the white house. a big weekend for new hampshire. presidential hopefuls are there

for the high profile summit. they are touting credentials and taking aim a hillary clinton. we have nbc's kristen welker at the white house. >> reporter: good morning, peter. the candidates are in new hampshire this weekend with the primary close to 300 days away the goal is to stand out without doing harm. that can be a tricky task in a state known for moderate and tea party republicans with the motto of live free or die. they are off and running in new hampshire. >> slow news day. >> everybody is good? >> reporter: many gop hopefuls have not officially announced yet, they started to court the famous voters. >> the best days of the couple try country are ahead of us. >> reporter: florida freshman

triggering the blasts. eyewitnesss say flames shot well over 10 0 feet in the air. most of the injured were county inmates doing work nearby. the bad weather is being blamed for a plane delay that left passengers stuck on the tarmac for six hours. a flight from denver to kansas city was diverted. passengers were told they could leave the plane but there were no connecting flights. the passengers were eventually bussed to denver. the airline was forced to park the plane due to lightning. police in ohio got an unusual call for help on friday. the drama began when drivers spotted a speeding van with a cage full of puppies scrapped to the roof. >> there's a black mini van with a cage on the roof with several puppies in it. >> the family in the van

surrendered the four puppies saying they were transporting the animals so they didn't have to put them down. they say the puppies were shaken up and. >> and drug charges. police say 32-year-old stall was arrested friday at the mgm hotel pool on suspicion of possession of cocaine. he helped the kings win stanley cups titles in 2012 and 2014. things got ugly at the nhl playoffs. a brawl in the closing minutes of the game between vancouver and the other team. all skaters squared off until officials got it under control. the fight lasted 10 minutes. they face off for game three tomorrow. >> they were saying tastes

>> a college dropout. >> reporter: again. and again. >> reporter: lose some weight baby girl. >> reporter: espn has suspended mchenry for a week. not long enough many tweeted. even after the reporter apologized. #firebritt trending. a change.org petition has thousands of signatures. among those who forgive the reporter is the towing company that released the edited video saying in a statement, neither the clerk or company have an interest in seeing mchenry terminated. the company itself doesn't have the best reputation and an "f" rating with the better business bureau bu. according to our station in washington they get more complaints about advanced towing about all other towing companies in the city combined.

runners. two sisters that battled cancer at the same time. we will share why they are looking forward to tomorrow's race. >> we wish you luck. >> thanks. we will talk to a mother and grandmother who lost two boys in the oklahoma city bombing. believe it or not, that was 20 years ago. how they made strength to get over it and how one has an issue with terry nichols. and now the simple question is sparking a movement across the country. she will tell us what she has learned. let's start this half hour with the unique campaign trying to get people to stop catcalling. the message is posted on what looks like regular street signs but they come with a different meaning. nbc's stephanie gosk has more. >> reporter: good morning, peter. the no catcall signs were put up in new york city this week.

they triggered conversation and raised questions. what is appropriate interaction on the street and is a compliment the same as a catcall. spring is here and the temperatures rise and people are hitting the streets wearing their warm weather bests, but strutting your stuff shouldn't be an invitation to be harassed. >> i'm thinking maybe i shouldn't wear this. >> reporter: this week, the group feminist apparel put up no catcall zone signs. >> i think this is going to end street harassment? but it is bringing awareness. >> reporter: a new study finds 85% of women reported street harassment before the age of 17. >> if someone is asking us to smile with expectation that we owe them something. respond if you want to, do whatever you need to do to stay safe. >> reporter: the non-profit group released this video last

year that raised eyebrows. a woman walking the streets of new york. clips have been viewed more than 40 million times. here is another video. this time a guy. but are all comments on the street unwanted? >> if someone catcalls me i would marry them instantly. >> reporter: what do the construction workers say about this. >> you cannot chase a person. you cannot harass a person you can compliment a person. >> reporter: do you think it is difficult to find that line between a compliment and a catcall? >> yes. >> reporter: so some believe there is a line that shouldn't be crossed. >> do you ever have guys say something and you think to yourself that was not it? >> yeah. >> do you say anything about it. >> in this type of work you keep to yourself. >> reporter: maybe the city could use a few more signs. beyond the catcalls there is another problem.

of the most iconic images of the oklahoma city bombing 20 years ago. it is hard to believe that was two decades ago tomorrow. a ceremony will be held to honor the victims. among those are the mother and group of two children killed in the blast. we have nbc's kelly o'donnell with the latest. >> reporter: good morning, erica. the heartache here is beyond measure back in 1995. i was covering the events for "today." it was domestic terrorism that took 168 lives, including those of 19 children. one family affected by this has been on a long journey through their grief which took an unusual turn. once a favorite toy of two small boys. this carousel has been a group's treasure for 20 years. >> they were just the light of our lives. everything we did in our house evolved around those boys.

>> reporter: chase and colton died in the federal building in oklahoma city bombing. >> i know i woke up in hell. >> reporter: kathy sanders and her daughter watched in anguish. over time the grieving group became a self made detective. >> mcveigh drew this. it made her mad. it propell her to find the truth. >> she has a lot of fire. >> reporter: army buddies, timothy mcveigh and terry nichols killed 168 with the truck bomb. >> i was willing to dance with the devil to get to the truth. >> reporter: she pursued witnesses and retraced mcveigh's steps. even befriended the bomber's families.

>> i remember the call. jennifer mcveigh is at my house. >> reporter: it is documented in the book. through prison letters and visits with terry nichols kathy's rage transformed. listen to the phone call made public for the first time. >> i love you, too. you call again in a few days. >> will do. >> i feel for giving was the best gift i could give myself. >> reporter: with forgiveness, edie says her life is joyful. raising her son and daughter. >> i have not erased it but i moved on. i'm happy and it's okay. >> reporter: kathy's long search did find comfort. >> i have a peace in my heart. i'll have a mile on my face. it changed my life. >> reporter: and over the years, their process of grief has changed. they told me that looking back 10 or 15 years ago, they were not in a place of forgiveness.

they are happy to be there now. edie has two children born after the bombing. they will be with her tomorrow as they are every year to mark the anniversary. preparations are happening behind me now. president clinton will be back to commemorate the day as families come together 20 years later. >> what a powerful story. kelly, thanks. >> as you see the two boys as a new dad, my wife said something to me. the thing about having a child is your heart is outside your body. you feel so vulnerable and just to see that experience of the family. it is crushing. >> heart breaking. you cannot tell someone how to heal. 20 years later. >> somber anniversary. up next two women with a bond only sisters could share using that helped them get through some of life's biggest struggles, including tomorrow's half marathon here in new york

new york's central park to celebrate girl power. >> peter alexander knows all about girl power. >> today for sure. >> we have been talking about running, but walking can be equally effective for mental health. we met two sisters walking in the half marathon celebrating health and life. for eileen walking is an essential part of each day. >> when i walk i feel i'm in control. i am committed. it is about starting my day with a clear head. >> what started out as a commitment for better health became a passion. ilene in 2011 completed her first half marathon. sunday's will be her seventh. for the first time ilene's big sister will be there. >> it will be a first. she is my best friend.

>> having that memory with her for both of us that is cool. >> reporter: a celebration of sisterhood and strengths and of life. jill and ilene lost their mother to cancer at the age of 51. this year they turn 55 and 52. >> i felt we didn't get past there. it doesn't make a lot of sense. somehow, you just don't think you will get beyond where your mom goes. >> reporter: not only have they passed that mark they have done it as cancer survivors. >> i think it was the scariest thing i heard. >> reporter: ilene was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2013. a month later, a call from jill. >> i could not believe i had the same diagnosis as her. we could not believe it happened to her and then it happened to me. it is unusual. >> the same cancer? >> the same type. >> reporter: doctors could not

explain the rare coincidence, but for jill and ilene was not why they had cancer but how they handled it. like everything in their lives, they tackled it together. >> if you are scared and someone holds your hand you are a little less scared. we were there. >> it means everything. i don't think i had a moment of worry or a moment of concern just knowing she was there. it really -- i knew everything would be okay. >> reporter: sunday's race is jill's first half marathon. his sister cannot imagine anyone else by her side. >> what are you looking forward to on race day? >> jill getting that medal. she is convinced i'm going to have firemen carry her. we will both cross that finish line. >> reporter: a finish line that is a powerful reminder of the other journey and of the many still to come. >> the fact we are still here and we have this crazy thing happen to both of us and came through it it is an amazing

thing. >> ilene and jill are here on the plaza with us. hello hello. your story rings out. one thing we checked out is you are walking this. what a great message to women out there. this is a powerful thing to walk the marathons. >> absolutely. >> what is it like? >> once the runners run past you meet great people. it's a lot of fun. people that have the same passion. >> there was a great shot with your grand kids there. your family must be proud of this experience you are on and in some way, it is a family affair. everybody's involved? >> everybody. my husband is usually there with me at the finish line. >> jill you nervous? >> yeah. >> i think you got it. i think you're good. >> i hope so. >> you guys will be great. congratulations in advance. we are thrilled for you.

>> yes good morning. more than 20 white house prospects are on the program for the weekend summit in new hampshire. the first for the nation's first primary state. on friday florida governor jeb bush touched on a contentious issue in his party, immigration, calling for a pathway to get legal status. speakers on tap include mike huckabee who said last night he'll announce his intentions on may 5th. hillary clinton will be in new hampshire on monday. a flash flood warning posted for parts of texas. a severe storm swept through southeast texas on friday with rain falling 2 to 3 inches per hour overnight stranding some drivers. there were reports of lightning and hail as well as downed trees and power outages. now to ohio and the dramatic rescue of a toddler all caught on a police officer's body cam. the officer was on patrol when he spotted the 18-month-old boy standing on the edge of his roof. his body cam captured him yelling to the toddler as he

raced towards the house. stay right there, okay? oh, my god. okay. i've got the fire department coming. as the officer sprang into action, the child's mother realized what was happening and raced on to the roof grabbing her child. she reportedly told the officer she was cleaning when the child went outside. no charges are expected to be filed. the faa is investigating what was a very close call involving a small plane in southern california. take a look at this. the single engine airplane made an emergency landing and flipped over friday on a golf course. no one was hurt. authorities say the plane may have been towing a banner at some point but it wasn't at the landing site. and it was a baseball game for the record books last night in los angeles. angels outfielder mike trout became the youngest player in history with 100 home runs and 100 stolen bases. he's just 23 years old and 253 days old. there you go. the previous record holder who's counting -- here's why.
