see the same area on the map. no slowing shows up on our sensors. i'll continue to follow this. the rest of your bay cleared of any major incidents. we will track the build going on in the tri-valley. we do begin with breaking news. medical examiner is on the scene of a possible body found in san francisco. this is video just in to our newsroom. this is happening across from the ritz carlton in the city's nobody hill neighborhood. our photographer on scene says police are not saying much about what happened. a live look at the scene now. we do know the medical examiner is there. you see the van. part of stockton is actually blocked off right now. we do have calls in to the police department. we'll bring you the very latest information as soon as it becomes available to us. shock and disbelief this morning in the east bay. this after a 9-year-old boy is stabbed to death. the question on even's mind, of course, is why. >> he was really kind.

he was really nice. >> a memorial right now growing at this home in discovery bay where 9-year-old jordan died yesterday morning. hours later, deputies arrested 18-year-old william shultz in connection with the killing. deputies say shultz was a friend of the victim's older brother and spent the night at the family's home. after the stabbing shultz took off. police later arrested him at kaiser hospital. >> one of the kaiser nurse saw it on the media post and recognized him being treated in the emergency room. >> deputies say they are in the process right now of investigating shultz' mental health background. now to a developing story. new video shows the moments a massive earthquake in nepal triggered a deadly avalanche on mt. everest. you can see just a wall of snow. it's just rolling across the skri. almost like clouds. this morning sure vovivors are

taking stock of what's left. buildings crumbled and roads buckled. perhaps the most staggering statistic is the number of dead. so far 3700 people have been confirmed dead. 18 of them died on mt. everest in that avalanche i showed you. this morning rescuers are trying to reach remote mountain villages and what they could find there could raise the casualty account. more than 7,000 people are hurt and that number could go up as well. new video also this morning shows people inside a kathmandu restaurant struggling to get out of the dining room when the earthquake hits, they jumped and ran to get to the doors just to try to get outside. but some of them couldn't even walk because the shaking was just considered so intense. they're having a really tough go of it there. >> as you said, the aftershocks continuing right now. meep tiantime, at uc berkel

students are springing into action to help provide a crucial service to the victims. students of the nepally student association are trying to get water to the need. freshwater and sanitation are top priorities for the thousands of victims fleeing the capital as well as those stranded in small rural towns. >> we believe this is the most critical situation right now which is water. we're going to buy water filters or purifiers for people in nepal who are currently working to get organizations to help us get the water purifiers to nepal. >> students set up a go fund me page and are planning a vigil wednesday night from 7:00 to 9:00. 4:35. elite search and rescue team from the southern california is on its way to help earthquake victims in nepal. the 67-member team and 6 dogs left yesterday. the team is trying to use a variety of equipment to locate and rescue people trapped in

collapsed structures and confined spaces. they expected to arrive in kathmandu later today. emotional impact of nepal's earthquake is hitting close to home in the bay area. friends and family are mourning the loss of google executive dan fredinburg. he was passionate about climate change. he wanted to climb mt. everest to promote his organization, savetheice.org. friends say he had so much more than h we wanted to accomplish. >> he was in his early 30s. so if you want to talk about lives effected, if you've been able to live a full, complete life and you could be talking a billion lives have been effected by this man. >> fredinburg was on mt. ef rest when the earthquake struck and he died from a head injury sustained in that avalanche. also killed in the avalanche

frequently. happening today, a vigil ahead of what same-sex supporters believe is an important hearing on its future. u.s. supreme court justices tomorrow will hear arguments about the right of same-sex couples to marry in kour states. kentucky, michigan, ohio, and tennessee. ohio federal judges have previously upheld gay marriage bans in each of those states. 16,000, that is how many students corinthian colleges will have to turn away this morning. over the weekend the for profit institution announced it's shutting down 30 campuses. that include hill college in milpitas. they forced that closure after investigation into fraudulent practices. the move blind sided many of the college students. >> this morning to see if there was anything that mentions anything whatsoever about it. i was still able to log into all of my classes. nothing was mentioned about the

school closing, about not being able to continue my classes, nothing. >> the company says it's working to help students continue their education with other schools. some students say the only advice they received so far is to pick up their transcripts. as the days get longer and warmer bay area air quality leaders are launching the season. no alert has been issued but starting today the air district wants everyone to focus on reducing pollution levels by considering commute alternative, especially if you normally drive alone. get a friend. no so far no sign of a let-up in the recent soaring gas prices. maybe you can split the price with a friend. it could surge another ten cents per gallon over the coming days after jumping 20 cents a gallon in many places over the past week. recent refinery problems in the east bay are partially to blame. average regular unleaded is $3.25 a gallon. >> still a little bit lower than what we had seen in the last

year. >> that's the optimist. >> the glass is half full, christina. maybe with some rainwater which we received over the weekend, good morning. >> good morning to you. we actually have had a very good april when it comes to our averages. every single city across the bay area is between 70 to 100% of average and we did receive over half an inch of rain in the north bay on saturday. so we're actually looking good. that's great news. so far this year it's been great but as you know we're still digging out of three plus drought years bep needed that snowpack. we actually picked up a foot and a half of fresh powder over the weekend. what a difference a day will make. yesterday was spectacular. low 70s. today we're going trade the numbers in for the low 80s. 9 on the peninsula for today. 88 degrees in the tri-valley. then that natural ac kicks back on as we head throughout tomorrow. so this is going to be just a little mini heat wave for today. by tomorrow, temperatures

a very good monday morning to you. live look at the golden gate bridge this morning. bridge officials want to make it a no drone zone. lately more of the unmanned helicopters and planes are flying close to the san francisco landmark. officials say the drones pose a security risk to the bridge. a bridge district spokesperson said a drone crashed into the traffic lanes recently. officials are asking senator dianne feinstein and faa for more regular i guess tions. one idea is ticketing drone operators for trespassing. as silicon valley talking about strengthen cyber security new depails about a cyber attack that may have penetrated the most secure place in the world. we're talking about the white house. according to the "new york times," russian hackers who breached the white house's computer systems last october were also able to access some of president obama's e-mails.

the "times" says hackers only got unclassified e-mails but even those files can contain sensitive information like the president's schedule. >> i'm going to find out who is the president talking to. what kind of diplomatic sanctions they may be coming up with through allies other countries that it cares about. >> that hack happened last fall just as the u.s. was in a bitter standoff with russian president vladimir putin over ukraine. 4:46. tesla elon is dealing with hacker, also. promised free teslas for people who called the phone number or follow certain twitter accounts. the tweets went out to more than 2 1/2 million vol lowers. elon musk regularly tweets news about tesla or another of his companies, spacex. a new ford recall to tell you about involving car doors that can suddenly open while you're driving. >> a change is in store for

chipotle recipes. let's check the news before the bell. we turn to kate rogers. good morning, kate. >> good morning to you both. stocks look to continue their winning ways today. futures point to a higher open this morning. the markets are coming off a positive week with a nasdaq and s&p 500 at all time highs while there's no economic data today, investors will be focusing on reports later this week on housing, manufacturing, the consumer, and first quarter gdp. also another busy week for earnings. apple reports this afternoon, all eyes will be on that with iphone sales in focus. on friday the dow rising 21 points to 18,080. the nasdaq up 36 points to 50.92. ford is recalling about 390,000 focus, fiesta, and lincoln mkz models because the door could open. two incidents where the door swung open and hit the driver. the recall's x model from 2012

theater three years ago. the jury will decide if he was sane when he opened fire the midnight premier of "the batman movie the dark knight rises." holmes killed 12 people and injured 70 others before his rifle jammed. he could face life in prison, confinement in a psychiatric institution, or even death. today the boston marathon bomber's defense team is going to argue for its client's life. defense is set to begin presenting witnesses in the penalty phase now of dzhokhar tsarnaev's trial. he was found guilty on all 30 counts for his role in the attacks. prosecutors made their case for the death penalty last week. tsarnaev's defense is expected to take up to two weeks to present its side. a traffic night marmare. the double tankinger truck was hauling 9,000 gallons of gas on the 710 freeway when it jackknife and exploded.

just one hour actually hold on to that thought for one second as we take a live look outside at the city scape from our san bruno mountain. just one hour of tv per day turns out could significantly increase the risk of obesity in kindergartens. researchers found the average 5-year-old watches over three hours of tv a day. but kids who watched just one hour a day were 50% to 60% more likely to be overweight. 60% to 70% more likely to be obese. that compared to those who spent less than han hour in front of a tv. however, computer use was not associated with any weight gain. >> very interesting. >> that is. 4:54 right now. i want to check the morning commute with mike. monday, a lot of folks starting their workweek. >> yeah, yeah. at this hour is early but still have a good amount of traffic. checking the live shot 101. don't see any problems. the map doesn't yield any slowing as we show you san jose and the rest of silicon valley.
