earthquake for the second time in a couple weeks. already 19 people are dead. >> "today in the bay's" kris sanchez is joining us. another round of terror. rescue efforts for this struggling country. >> and this as monsoon season approaches. magnitude .3. the destruction. the big buildings toppling over. this one a bit weaker. we want to put the two on the map to see how close they happened to each other. touchdown's w touchdown's was closer to the border of tibet. the mountain is now closed. the climbing season is over. the one on april 25th was closer to the city of kathmandu. a shell shocked people poured into the streets. you can see bricks laying on the ground. one person said the jolt felt as strong as the one in april but not quite as long. that one killed more than 8,000 people and left quarter million people homeless. you can see people frantically trying to make phone calls with their cellphones, trying to make

contact with loved ones. >> i'm wait for my family. >> hotel employees and their guests evacuated into the streets. in the last earthquake we saw people too afraid to go back into the building for weeks for fear of aftershocks. that's a valid concern. we just pulled up the u.s. geological survey site showing the number of strong quakes that followed that 7.8 this morning. usgs says there have been seven earthquakes magnitude five or higher in nepal today including the first one. as we mentioned, we already have confirmed that there are 19 people dead. nearly 1,000 people injured. but nepal's home ministry say they expect that count to rise very quickly. as we mentioned, monsoon season is coming so it's going to be very difficult. >> the timing. >> goodness, so sad to hear for these folks. no relief at all. thank you. >> i should mention, death toll now at 36. it just happened like that. >> i know you're following this story all morning long for us.

million. 4:34. south san francisco police need your help finding two gunmen who robbed a man on a popular trail. the attack happened friday night on the centennial way trail near kaiser medical center. two men approached a man from behind on the trail and jammed two handguns into his sides. the robbers took his wallet, watch, and jacket. in november two women were attacked in separate incidents on the same stretch of trail. new push now to put san jose police officers body cameras sooner than expected. sam ricardo made that announcement monday. the city already has a plan in place to outfit some officers with body cameras in september with a one-year pilot program. if all goes as planned all officers will get cameras. mayor's announcement comes after san jose police are

riders. 141 of them competing in this tour that, of course, is three of eight stages. coming off of stage two which ended yesterday in the sacramento area with mark of great britain now in first. peter sayingen of slovakia in second and the american robin carpenter in third. this is the tebt year in a row that san jose has hosted the stage in this race. the only city to do so since the inception of this race. and it makes sense considering the challenge it presents rid riders. stage three is a grueling 105-mile stage that will take riders on serious climbs including a 4200 foot haul up the back of mount happen mimilt livermore, and it will end at motorcycle county park in the east foothills. this is the only stage that starts and ends in the same city. something that's of note. expected to take around five hours. tomorrow, i imagine stay eight wraps up sunday in los angeles.

in fresno. two other inmates and a count worker who were hurt remain in the hospital. that explosion happened at the gun range on april 17th. a prison work crew was picking up shell casings at the range at the time. the exact cause of the explosion still under investigation. 4:44. from devastation to dreams of a bloo brighter future. city of san bruno is deciding how to spend a $70 million restitution payout for pg&e. the utility was ordered to pay the money in response to the deadly pipeline explosion in 2010. the money is earmarked for the community. last night neighbors chimed in with their ideas. many parents suggested transforming athletic fields. >> we can have an area where kids who made new on probation, have to do community hours, can go and do their service hours and they can learn a skill. >> others including a performing

arts center and more programs. the foundation in charge of the funds will take its time to make the final decision. police near uc santa barbara lacking for one suspect in connection to a shooting. last night deputies in uc santa bar a police arrived at home to find three young men with gunshot wounds in the yard. one of them is believed to be one of the attackers but another suspect got away. nearby ucsb dorms were put on lock down but they've since been reopened. it came during an emotion ol time for the community. next week will mark one year since the deadly shooting rampage in isle la vista. a student went on a shooting and stabbing spree there targeting students. three of the victims were from the bay area. schools in fresno cannot teach abstinence only as part of the sex education curriculum. that's a ruling from a judge who determined the school district must follow state law and teach birth control as part of its sex

education. parents sued the district in 2012 for using material that encouraged abstinence until marriage. the district then changed its policies. the judge sided with parents who will now have their legal fees reimbursed by the district. the convenience of an suv but the practicality of a car. no doubt you're seeing more and more mid-size suvs on the road. but they received mixed safety results in the latest round of crash tests. the insurance institute for highway safety tested seven mid-size suvs from the 2015 model year. most at vehicles did fine. the dodge durango, jeep cherokee all earned marginal ratings. the best performer overall was the redesigned nissan murano. it's designated as top safety pick. ford flex earned acceptable and the worst performer of the group was the dodge journey. given an over all rating of poor. mcdonald's changing the menu

capitalize on the menu item, the bread sticks. the chain which is fighting falling sales will start offering bread stick sandwiches next month. chicken parmesan and meatball. they're only available on the lunch menu. last year an activist investor criticized olive garden for not being disciplined in distributing the bread sticks. translation, it was giving out too many which is never a bad thing if you have the bread sticks. >> they are delightful but if you already had bread sticks why do you want the bread stick sandwich? >> narrow sandwich, too, right? >> yeah. not a lot of surface area. 4:48. bay area crews will get hands-on training today as they gear up for very busy fire season. crews will hold drills throughout the city of brisbane today. this is the second in the series of training events in san mateo county this month. the training is timely. already we've had several small fires around the bay area. this one broke out in san martin yesterday and came close to

homes there. it scorched ten acres just south of morgan hill. firefighters were able to knock it down before any homes burnt. crews also dealt with a brush fire at pacheco pass. they had a tough time getting a handle on this particular blaze because of strong winds. it purnd 300 acre ace long highway 1152. >> you can see how dry it is in many parts. a little quenching of rain would be nice this week. >> just what the doctor ordered. how about a lot? like maybe a month's worth? >> good morning. yeah, we are expecting quite a bit of rainfall. not until we get to the end of the week and piggybacking on the fire stories bep still have fierce wind as we speak right now. you're at 30 miles per hour sustained in san francisco this morning. take you live over to oakland, emeryville. you can see our camera is shaking quite a bit. that wind is going to play a big factor in your forecast for today. were upseted pattern for today and into tomorrow. that's when we are expecting our
