"early today" starts right now. good morning, everybody. i'm betty nguyen. we start with breaking news out of nepal. nbc news has confirmed the wreckage of a u.s. marine helicopter that went missing

tuesday may have been spotted in the nepalese mountains. >> good morning. what more do we snow. >> good morning. it was found on a mondaines side of 11,000 feet. a search team found it and a combat rescue officer were sent in to investigate. the pentagon has not said if there were any sur vie source. nepal said that it was in pieces and three bodies found. that's unconfirmed by u.s. officials. they were all delichvering aid in the area. they mention aid possible fuel

drinking or on drugs and his cell phone was in the bag. >> reporter: the speed limit on the tracks leading up to the curve at frankford junction is posted at 80 miles per hour slowing the 50 in the curve. train 188 was traveling at 106 miles per hour when the engineer slammed on the brakes. it was too late. the train went off the tracks around the bend and careened all the way down the right-of-way and in the process took out four of these cat poles, the high voltage electrical structures. the challenge now is to get all this rebuilt. at the crash scene, amtrak ceo joe boardman. >> reporter: what do you say to the americans who ride this northeast corridor every single day and may be worried? >> this is a damn safe railroad. tom, you know this is the first time in 28 years we've had this kind of derailment with the loss we've had. >> reporter: while most of the train cars have been relocated to a rail yard in delaware, a

single car and locomotive from train 188 remain at the scene as investigators continue to dig for answers. >> with the latest on the investigation we turn now to msnbc's adam reiss. good morning, adam. what have the investigators learned so far? >> reporter: good morning, betty. we've learned the train went from 70 to 100 miles per hour in just a matter of seconds prior to the crash. we've also learned 32-year-old engineer brandon bostian has finally agreed to talk to the ntsb, but what he'll be able to tell him, that is the question. he doesn't remember anything from the accident. his attorney says he's distraught, he's injured and has a concussion an doesn't remember a thing from the accident. he remembers getting his bag, getting his phone and calling 911. some doctors suggested he could regain some of his memory over time. he gave his phone and a blood sample to the philadelphia police department but refused to talk to them. here is mayor nutter.

former florida governor jeb bush is facing a political firestorm over his own remarks about the iraq war. on thursday he took a third stab at answering this question. given what he knows now, would he have authorized the war as his brother did. nbc's kelly o'donnell has more on bush's evolving answers. >> reporter: in arizona jeb bush tried to clean up a political mess of his own making. >> knowing what we know now, what would you have done? i would not have engaged, i would not have gone into iraq. >> reporter: but that's a huge flip from what he said on monday. >> knowing what we know now, would you have authorized the invasion? >> i would have. so would have hillary clinton just to remind everybody. >> reporter: saying he misinterpreted the question, he tried again tuesday with radio host sean hannity. >> in other words, with 20/20 hindsight, you would have made a different decision? >> i don't know what the decision would have been. that's a hypothetical. the simple fact is mistakes were made. >> reporter: republican rivals seized on bush's wavering. >> knowing what we know now, would you have authorized the invasion of iraq? >> of course not.

supply for our dailey lives, from drinking to irrigation, even fighting fires. the water is pumped to cities like san francisco and los angeles. the shoreline at oroville spans 167 miles. that's where you see it most. the dramatic water loss is exposing a vast terrain of brown hills and valleys that used to be submerged. california's drought is changing our landscape. during the good years you can see the waterline just below this bridge, but after a crippling dry spell now four years long, the water is dropping every day, plunging some 150 feet, and it's not just oroville in trouble. every major reservoir in california, and there are 12 scattered across this state, plays a major role in water supply and distribution, but water levels are at historic lows and they're dropping every day, many like this reservoir are operating at just a fraction of capacity. that was miguel almaguer
