>> i'm laura garcia-cannon. lots to get to but first, let's check the forecast. >> looking similar to yesterday morning at the same time. got the low clouds and drizzle. overcast skies. 57 degrees. with the all day sea breeze temperatures will be running fairly cool. close to 70 in san jose and out towards the north bay, 61 in san francisco. the end of the week we're finally going to see 80s showing up in the forecast. look at that in a few minutes. >> rob, here's what you're taking about. the breeze is shaking the camera just a tad. making a little glow. traffic across the bay bridge is just fine. let's look as we look at the sparkly lights. as you look at your map, mostly green. a little slowing out of the altamont. we'll talk about debris over there. the bigger issue is a crash southbound 680 right around monument boulevard in pleasant hill. a car went into the bushes. a tow truck will likely arrive.

very light traffic right now. we do have some breaking news this morning. brand new house in vallejo, nothing but a burned out shell this morning. this home on many drive caught fire just before 3:30 this morning. the people who shot the video say they could feel the heat from inside their car. witnesses tell us they don't think anyone was home at the time. so far no reports of any injuries. warriors have given off plenty of heat so far this postseason but when you're up like the dubs are it's not a huge setback when you lose the team fell back to ate last night. some might say with a thud that ended up being no harm, no foul. fans watching game four of the western conference finals in oakland's tribune tavern felt a whiplash of emotions. the warriors fought back from a big early deficit against the rockets but could not actually seal the deal last night and sweep the series. instead game five will be played

at oracle tomorrow night with the dubs still one win away from moving on. >> no big deal. they deserve to win one. >> i think we can still win it. we're going to the next level. >> the warrior s do have the upper hand still and you can be sure they will be ready to play tomorrow. that includes mvp steph curry. >> warriors fans held their collective breath when mvp steph curry momentarily became a falling star in spectacular fashion. the warrior landed on his head, eventually having to leave the scene. >> stephanie chuang is live at oracle arena. what did steph have to say about his big scare? >> reporter: it's good news. he was able to return to the game, first of all. he was down on the ground for a few minutes by felt like much longer. the warriors were already in bad shape against the rockets in game four when the league mvp went down and he went down hard. this is in houston in the second quarter. steph curry going down, jumping over trevor. landing hard on his neck and even hitting his head.

he is facedown lying on the ground for a while. he did get up after a few minutes heading to the x-ray room at medical professionals ran tests on him. they diagnosed curry not with a concussion but with a head contusion. >> like i was in the air for a long time and trying to brace yourself. and, you know, once i hit the ground kind of hear voices from trainers and people just kind of telling me to take my time and not rush it, not rush yourself getting up. >> now, here's curry returning to the court after about an hour and he's now being -- his parents, family and wife were in the stand holding their breath. a huge moment walking back appearing to be okay. not a good night for the warriors who fell 115-127 in game four. back here at oracle tomorrow night for game five but good just to see curry walking around and seemingly okay.

live at oracle arena, stephanie chuang, "today in the bay." >> thank you, steph. no sweep but they're still on the verge of the nba finals. the warriors can win the series tomorrow night. of course, we'll have extensive coverage on our nbc bay area app. after the game ended severe flooding forced fans to stay inside the arena in houston. this what it looked like inside the toyota center well after the game ended. even some of the players waited out the severe weather. >> they were wise to heed that weather warning in the toyota center in houston. the weather was deadly in houston and east toward san antonio. >> southbound's kris sanchez is here with what the storms are doing. they're pounding texas. >> you saw the fans after the basketball game but also reports of folks stranded in an upscale mall in houston. we have video from inside the mall where workers and customers were hunkered down. look at the flood waters outside the glass doors. the rain, relentless.

you can see the lightning in the distance as well. houston has gotten four inches and counting. and to austin now where in the daylight you can see the flooding on city streets not far from the capital, not far from the university of texas campus. probably not a surprise then that dozens of people had to be rescued from those rising waters as cars just washed away. part of the problem there is that a creek burst its banks. but the most heartbreaking stories of those of the missing including this mother and her two young children along with her husband. they were swept away in a cabin they had gone on vacation. this is what she told her center. >> we are in a house that is now floating down the river. call mom and dad. i love you. and pray. >> that family of four was able to cling together until the home just broke apart. the father was found 12 miles away. he is alive. he is at the hospital. the mother and the children,

they have not been found. and her sister is now expecting the worst. they are among the 12 people who are missing. there are some people who are confirmed dead but we suspect that is going to rise and that is from oklahoma over to texas. you name a texas city, it's probably under water. >> wow, just devastating, especially for that family. >> so much pain and anguish. thank you, kris. >> all right. 4:37. happening now. iraqi troops are standing by near ramadi to confront isis militant who took over the city earlier this month. the military announced the operation this morning. isis seized large parts of the province last year but the fall of ramadi marked a major defeat for iraqi forces. a new report on homelessness in the south bay has staggering figures. the report will be presented this morning in san jose. according to the mercury news, data shows the homeless population is in santa clara county comes with a cost of more than half billion dollars every year. that cost is for county services

like trips to the emergency room, jail stays, and mental health care. homeless advocates say the report highlights how damaging homelessness can be for an entire community. coming up at 5:00, bob redell will explain why a relatively small group of people is costing taxpayers the most money. time to get a check of our forecast for this tuesday morning. rob is in. how are we looking? >> right now looking like mostly cloudy for the bay area right now with misty skies which will commute on the coast and san francisco and parts of the's bay. numbers in the mid 50s. the winds aren't sure. it seems like it's been that way keeping our temperatures below average for most of us and through the afternoon we will see the wind speeds accelerate 10 to 20 miles per hour around 3:00 this afternoon. so you can see the low cloud coverage in the tri-valley and delta as we head through the afternoon. clearing skies. still the threat of sierra thunder showers. temperatures will run several degrees below average.

this story of the cool may continue. san jose, 71 degrees. san francisco, closer to 60 degrees. north bay, highs in the upper 60s around petaluma and for the tri-valley you will see highs in the low 70s for today. the trend ahead going to turn a little bit warmer. maybe not so much for san francisco. highs in the mid 60s towards the end of the week. places like san jose, passing thursday and friday. 70s to near 80 as we start the weekend. you can see livermore breaking out of the low 70s into the low 80s as we head into friday and saturday. meantime, misty skies and drizzle, mike, get those windshield wipers. >> keep aware of that, rob. fluid in the washer wipers, wiper washers, the spray thing, because you've got to clear off the windshield as with el. look over here. clear voot of the san mateo bridge from the hayward side. other view from the foster city side. no activity as far as the overnight crews. completely open. yesterday we got open just nicely after that weekend work as well. looking a t the map. we see a smooth drive across 92.

welcome back. 4:33 right now on your tuesday morning. a live look from houston as many of the residents there still dealing with the aftermath of that flooding. cars are abandoned, under and throughout over passes following severe flooding overnight. the storm has hit texas and oklahoma extremely hard. as of right now seven people are confirmed dead.

"today in the bay's" kris sanchez will have a live report coming up at 5:00. it is 4:43. big crack down this morning on southern california's porn industry. cal osha submitted a 21-page proposal for new porn safety standards to prevent sexually transmitted diseases. it includes wearing protective eye gear. the industry calls the regulations unworkable. many productions already left l.a. county after a 2012 law tightening the rules. change the names of some of those flicks. 4:44 right now. not in our backyard. people in toronto protesting a new low-cost townhouse development for fears it's going to bring down property values. the cost for each condo, half million dollars. to be fair, most of homes in the neighborhood cost at least $1.1 million. the star newspaper in toronto reports a four-story 80-unit build willing replace eight properties in the neighborhood. the group started a, quote, save our streets campaign putting up

signs around the neighborhood. the founder of that group told the star that they aren't against the development, they're just for development that, quote, enriches their neighborhood. 4:44. the deal is done. charter communications buys time warner cable for $55 billion. that news was just confirmed about 90 minutes ago. >> cable behemoth now. for that and news before the bell we turn to meg live at cnbc's world headquarters. good morning, meg. >> good morning. we'll start with the markets. stocks could start on a down note. futures point to a lower open. markets ended mixed last week. we get data day on home prices, new home sales and consumer confidence. the nasdaq slipping two points to 5089. charter communications struck a deal to buy time warner cable for more than $55 billion. it comes amonth after comcast, parent of nbc universal, dropped the merger after regulators raised antitrust concerns.

charter will also buy smaller rival bright house networks giving the combined company more than 23 million cable customers. it would control a quarter of the high speed internet market. comcast time larner cable would have served more than half. amazon may be setting sights on etsy. the "wall street journal" reports the online retailer plans to open a marketplace for hand-made goods and invited etsy sellers to sign up. no details on when the site will are be rolled out or the fees amazon will charge. back to you guys. >> all right, meg, thank you very much. 4:46 right now. activists plan to protest against chevron. they say they plan to confront company executives at the annual shareholder meeting in san ramon tomorrow. the nearly three years since the massive richmond refinery fire in 2012 that sent hundreds of people to the hospital with breathing problems. protesters say chevron has shown disregard for human rights and

environment. since the fire the company says it has inspected and surveyed 12,000 sections of pipe and taken other safety measures. work crews are expected to remove part of the broken oil pipeline near santa barbara later today. they operate that pipeline. company officials say the pipe will be tested to see if deterioration led to last week's oil spill that fouled the santa barbara coastline. workers with still trying to clean up that mess and are now training volunteers on how to safely help out with the efforts. >> we would not put the public out in area where's we felt they could not do that safely. either for themselves or for the environment. >> plains all american are looking at four potentially weak spots in the pipeline to see if they need to be re-enforced or replaced all together. 4:47. spent the weekend in tahoe, thunder, lightning, the rain. it was refreshing. >> hoe is that snowpack looking? >> you could see snow. >> a little bit snow. >> yes. nice to see. the storm that moved through too warm to produce any snow up

there. >> courtesy, rob, of recent storms in the last couple of weeks? >> yeah. we've been seeing weather systems, although we haven't seen the rain in the bay area, it's firing off scattered showers and thunder showers in the sierra and probably a few more of those a little bit later on this afternoon. back to the bay area seeing some low clouds and some misty skies once again. around san jose and san francisco this morning you can see the low clouds hanging over downtown. 55 degrees. into oakland, or rackal arena. big game coming up wednesday evening. you've got 56 right now with some low clouds and some misty skies. and in san jose, 57 degrees with some matchy low clouds across the south bay. so as we head through the afternoon, winds strongly onshore once again. that is the ocean air conditioning. it's going to keep the temperatures down. we're going to see a midday break up of the low clouds inland. towards the evening onshore winds will see the low clouds around 5:00 and 6:00 return back into parts of the bay area with some cool temperatures in store again today. 50s likely through 10:00 this morning with some areas of mist

and drizzle. by lunchtime, just like we saw yesterday, inland spots on the bottom of the screen here. livermore, san jose mid 60s by noon. as we finish the day, highs in the low 70s. you can see tum numbers, 74 degrees in los galos. you notice san jose, 71 degrees for the month of may only two days have been above average in terms of temperatures in san jose. 84 degrees on may 1st. we have not been anywhere close to that ever since. average high has been about 68 degrees so far this month. today obviously another one of those cool days. upper 50s to low 60s around san francisco into the north bay. highs in the upper 60s to near 70 in napa. oakland, 63 degrees. got an evening start to the as game coming up tonight. temperaturesing are go to head out to the coliseum chilly there. numbers in the upper 50s as the sea breeze takes hold. pleasanton today, highs in the 70s. long range forecast will bring in high pressure. it's not going to impact san francisco's pressure too much. notice san jose temperatures

starting to rise up. upper 70s to near 80 as we approach the start of the weekend. tri-valley trend now starting to look warmer. low 80s by friday and saturday as a ridge of high pressure strength thens as we head into the weekend. 80 sbooz the forecast or the valleys. looks like for saturday notice the weekend forecast for sunday trending cooler into sunday. if you've been waiting for the warmer weather it should arrive for most spots. 70s and 80s and valley forecasts just in time for the weekend. back to you. >> as if on cue, rob. thank you. as the weather does warm up, drivers may be more inclined to roll down the car windows. but be aware it could hurt your fuel efficiency. the epa reminding everyone that riding with the windows up and the ac on at least on the highway weighs less on fuel consumption than the drag on your car with the windows open. the car simply doesn't have to work as hard. although it is harder to get that feeling of warm summer air freezing through your air. >> those little dogs love to hang their heads out the window. >> they do.

welcome back on your tuesday morning. 4:54. live look outside san jose this morning. still dark. we will track your commute and weather through the sunlight. amazing and scary moments caught on camera. two out of three kids hurt when a bounce house goes airborne in ft. lauderdale. airborne. they're out of the hospital this morning but that bounce house went as high as 50 feet in the air. it happened yesterday while they were celebrating memorial day at the beach. winds from a water spout actually lifting up the inflatable bouncy house with, as we said, the three kids inside. they are all under the age of 8 and were taken to the hospital. two have been released. the third child is still being treated this morning.

breaking news just in to our newsroom. police in north dakota are on the scene of a deadly shooting inside a walmart store happening just around 1:00 this morning local time. that city's police chief says officers found victims inside the store and several of them were taken to the hospital with various injuries. no word on the age of the victims or what started the shooting in the first place. police say they don't believe the general public at this point is at risk. it is 4:55. we all know work can get stressful but a new study finds people who work full time may feel it less. u.s. substance and abuse and mental health services administration studied anxiety disorders in working adults. researchers found less than 4% of americans with full-time jobs had an anxiety disorder during the past year. with that percentage increased among adults who worked part time or not at all. >> i tell you what a lot of anxiety in the bay area this morning after watching what happened last night with steph curry. but i think we're all breathing a little bit easier right now.
